| | 6. Logans Run | | | Starring: Michael York Jenny Agutter Director: Michael Anderson | | Format: DVD Release Date: 1/29/2008 | | Logan's Run - DVD Review By: Chris Cabin - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 10/30/2009 11:42 PM | |
Michael Anderson's Logan's Run is the sort of silly, lo-fi science-fiction epic that only had two choices upon its release: Become a cult hit or fade from memory by the time the audience chucked their empty popcorn bags. For some time in 1976, it landed in the former category and was considered by a certain sect to be a classic; sci-fi conventions urged guests to participate in "Runs," reenacting the film's central set-piece. A year later, Star Wars: A New Hope would be released and would usher in a whole new wave of sci-fi with its sprawling, interplanetary alternate reality, and Logan's Run became destined to register as only a minor blip on the scene. read the full review

| | 14. Third Watch-Complete 2nd Season | | | Starring: Michael Beach Molly Price | | Format: DVD Release Date: 7/7/2009 | | Third Watch - The Complete Second Season - DVD Review By: Jordan Richardson - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/21/2009 4:42 AM | | As a gritty procedural, Third Watch was always one of my favourites. Created by ER executive producer John Wells and ex-Chicago police officer Edward Allen Bernero, the show began in 1999 and showcased the exploits of New York police officers, paramedics and firefighters as they work the “third watch” shift from 3 pm to 11 pm. Third Watch was successful in presenting the ensemble of characters as real people and not just chiselled stereotypes. The characters had real problems, struggled to make ends meet and dealt with complicated situations both on and off the job. read the full review | |

| | 16. Paper Heart coming soon! | | | Starring: Charlyne Yi Michael Cera Director: Nicholas Jasenovec | | Format: DVD Release Date: 12/1/2009 | | Paper Heart - DVD Review By: Jesse Hassenger - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 11/20/2009 6:42 PM | |
You may remember Charlyne Yi from the movie Knocked Up, or you may not. She played the girlfriend of one of Seth Rogen's stoner friends for a couple of minutes; her big line is asking Kathryn Heigl if she wants to switch boyfriends. "Just kidding," she says, then adding, "kind of." A quick moment, but funny in its casual awkwardness, and conspicuous in that it comes from a girl allowed to look just as casually awkward as one of the stoner guys. Yi graduates from half-cameos and guest spots to her own movie with Paper Heart, a kind-of documentary vehicle in which she searches for the meaning of love and starts dating actor Michael Cera along the way. read the full review

| | 18. Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist | | | Starring: Kat Dennings Michael Cera Director: Peter Sollett | | Format: DVD Release Date: 7/28/2009 | | Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist - DVD Review By: Eric Meyerson - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 1/23/2009 7:46 PM | |
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist is a high school fantasy for indie rock nerds. Imagine if back when you were 17, instead of playing CDs in your bedroom and dreaming about getting up the nerve to talk to a girl or guy, you played bass in a punk band that performed gigs in New York City. After your show, you hopped around the Lower East Side with a cute girl who knew all your favorite I-liked-'em-first bands, and who could get you into any club in town. You and she and your buddies partied until dawn with nary a care for the consequences, the law, or your parents. That's Nick and Norah. Sadly, it's not as much fun as it looks. read the full review

Trust me, the roaring sound of that beast in HD will haunt you in your sleep.
