Based on the Laura Zigman novel, Animal Husbandry, Someone Like You is a romantic comedy about a late night TV talent coordinator named Jane (Ashley Judd), whose luck in love is predictably bad. So predictable is her misfortune, in fact, that she has devised a pervasive theory on the subject, revolving around the notion that men are like cattle. read the full review

Like a left turn when you have your right signal blinking, the movie then veers away from the expected and becomes a comic road movie, with some of the best dialogue and acting of the year. All six leads deserve recognition in the upcoming awards season, but Kinnear really stands out as a man who divides the world into two camps, winners and losers, and does what he can to make sure his family is in the right camp. read the full review

But deep down, we know that a few terrible things had to happen before the burger hit our plate. So if everybody is in agreement that these food conglomerates are soulless, greedy, and deeply ingratiated in Faustian deals, then what is the point in telling us again' The answer is, this movie really doesn't. read the full review

Sure, elements of the film aren’t all that stunning and there’s nothing particularly earth-shaking about this David Koepp project, but it does mark Gervais’ first opportunity to lead a picture and it is uplifting and amusing. read the full review

This is good old-fashioned film storytelling at its finest. More than a story about a man trying to become a professional football player, it's one of an entire city looking for a reason to make it through a difficult time in its history. read the full review

Flash of Genius | | | Starring: Greg Kinnear Lauren Graham Director: Marc Abraham | | Format: DVD Release Date: 8/11/2009 | | Flash of Genius - DVD Review By: Emily McDonald - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 2/24/2009 6:36 PM | | Flash of Genius is the film based on the article in the New Yorker of the same name, which is based on the life of Bob Kearns. The film begins with Bob being apprehended by the police; they tell him "Your family is worried about you," and then take him with them. He babbles nonsensically and the audience can assume that he is being taken to the mental hospital. We then flash back three years to when Bob invented the "Kearns Blinking Eye Motor," which was to be used to create the intermittent wiper. After trying to sell his invention to Ford, they copy his model and lie about it. Approx. 12 years pass and Bob ends up having to represent himself in a court case against Ford after his lawyer quits, his wife leaves him, and his children lose hope in him. read the full review
