In Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Matthew McConaughey finally plays a character who takes full advantage of the fact that he looks like Matthew McConaughey. True, the handsomely sculpted slacker has played immature Lotharios in the past. But those dudes usually applied their casual charm on one woman (Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker) as they sought a fortune in pirate treasure or superficial fluff of that nature. Not Connor Mead. McConaughey's latest egocentric womanizer has bedded thousands of girls in the name of casual play, and they all come back to haunt him on the eve of his kid brother's (Breckin Meyer) wedding in Mark Waters' Ghosts. read the full review

Sure, elements of the film aren’t all that stunning and there’s nothing particularly earth-shaking about this David Koepp project, but it does mark Gervais’ first opportunity to lead a picture and it is uplifting and amusing. read the full review

| | Volver | | Videos/DVDs: See more matches | | | Volver - DVD By: Franck Tabouring - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 4/11/2007 9:12 PM | | Throughout it all, director Pedro Almodóvar does a phenomenal job at dodging formulaic dialogue and corny situations, while combining tragedy with dark comedy to create an unconventional melodrama. Volver is as subtle as a movie of this genre can get, and presents its spectators with an array of memorable truths about the challenges of everyday life. read the full review | |

Turns out this is the spirit of her unborn and dead twin brother, strangled to death by her umbilical cord while still in the womb. Or so says Casey's father played by '80s heavy James Remar ( 48 Hours) which is enough to make you suspect he's lying and behind some elaborate plot to drive his daughter insane for her inheritance. But he turns out to be a good guy, oddly, leaving no reason for casting Remar in the first place. read the full review

Briefly, the plot of Field of Dreams: A thirty-something man hears voices from a Higher Power, abandons his ties to his family, wanders the earth gathering a passel of believers, suffers the mocking laughter of his townspeople but soon redeems himself, and, finally, is reconciled with his father. Say what you want about Kevin Costner, but you can’t say he never played Jesus Christ. In the ‘90s, Costner’s messianic ambitions – his belief that his aw-shucks Everyman demanded an epic canvas to match his bank account – produced some of the worst films ever made. read the full review
