Religulous | | | Director: Larry Charles | | Format: DVD Release Date: 2/17/2009 | | Video Reviews Available: 1 | | Religulous - DVD Review By: Rich Knight - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 2/24/2009 6:46 PM | | Bill Maher is a genius. No matter what you might have thought of Politically Incorrect or what you currently think of Real Time With Bill Maher, he's a genius, and this is not something I ever thought before watching this movie. The brilliant thing about this documentary, which, as noted in the commentary (more on that later), was NOT included in the Academy's list of best docs of last year, is that it manages to give a clear, defining point against religion and still be completely entertaining. I attribute that to Maher's capability to not be malicious about his beliefs, and to talk to intelligent, passionate, and undoubtably kind people who are willing to put their faith on the line and talk to (And I'm serious about this) a modern day Socrates; one who doesn't pull any punches and most importantly, asks the key question of, "Just how do really you know'" It's the responses that he gets from that question that make this movie stand head over shoulders over any other answer-seeking doc in the past five years or so. read the full review

| | 39. Ali G Indahouse-Movie (Widescreen) | | | Starring: Michael Gambon Charles Dance Director: Mark Mylod | | Format: DVD Release Date: 8/23/2005 | | Ali G Indahouse - The Movie - DVD By: Blake Matthews - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 12/13/2006 6:55 PM | | When I heard that Ali G Indahouse: The Movie was being promoted as the film where Ali G Meets Borat for the very first time, I thought is was worth checking out. Now I must admit, I never saw Da Ali G Show when it played on HBO, nor did I rush to the theatre to see Borats recent movie debut. With all of the hype surrounding the two, I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about. So I popped this DVD in my player with no expectations, and in return got a cheesy '80s movie/TV show, and not in a good way.

Once new! | | | Starring: Glen Hansard Marketa Irglova Director: John Carney | | Format: DVD Release Date: 6/16/2009 | | Once - DVD Review By: Katey Rich - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 12/15/2007 1:22 PM | | The tiny-budget Irish musical Once became a surprise hit over the summer, grossing $9 million and making stars out of its main actors, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. A romance that clocks in at 83 minutes, it's a story so simple that its main characters don't even have names; they are referred to in the credits as "The Guy" and "The Girl." Still, Once features charm and talent to spare, and with nine wonderful original songs, a killer soundtrack to boot. read the full review
