Star Wars-Clone Wars (Single Disc) new! | | | Director: Dave Filoni | | Format: DVD Release Date: 11/10/2009 | | Star Wars: The Clone Wars - DVD Review By: Rich Knight - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 11/17/2008 11:52 PM | | While watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars, I pitied today's youth. It's not that this film is entirely terrible. But if this is what today's youth is growing up with-one lightsaber battle too many-then how could they ever possibly find interest in the far superior original trilogy of Episodes 4, 5, and 6 read the full review

Just like religion and the U.S. Constitution, science fiction has remained popular while losing much of its meaning. Sci fi has never been bigger than it is today, but unlike the fifties -- when even the lamest creature features carried "messages" about nuclear anxiety or the nobility of space exploration -- today's sci-fi movies and TV series don't have much to say. At best, they are action/drama series with intergalactic settings. The hugely successful Star Trek franchise has been part of that transition. read the full review

Somehow, in the wake of Lucas’ CGI evisceration of his own work and overblown space operas like The Chronicles of Riddick, somebody still knows how to put together an outer-space romp that trades just as heavily on quips and character as it does on conflict and explosions. All the better, there’s barely a movie star in sight. The film in question is Serenity, the by-product of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Joss Whedon’s sci-fi series Firefly. Somehow, Whedon convinced Universal to pony up about $45 million to make and show Serenity to multiplex audiences, 95 percent of whom will have never seen the original series, which lasted on Fox for only 11 episodes back in 2002. read the full review

Battlestar Galactica 2004-Season 4.5 | | | Starring: Edward James Olmos Mary McDonnell | | Format: DVD Release Date: 7/28/2009 | | Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.5 - DVD Review By: Blake Matthews - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/29/2009 12:25 PM | | The story behind Battlestar Galactica is fairly simple. The story takes place in a distant part of the universe, where a civilization of humans live on planets that are known as the Twelve Colonies. For 40 years, the colonies have had an armistice with the Cylons, a cybernetic race that, at the beginning of the series, launches a sneak attack on the colonies, wiping out most of the populations of each planet. The Galactica is the only military ship to survive the attacks because it was considered past its prime and was in the process of being decommissioned when the Cylons launched their strikes. Under the leadership of Commander Adama the Galactica takes up the task of leading a fugitive fleet of survivors to a legendary refuge known as Earth. read the full review

Give Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge enough rope, and he may just hang himself. In his first live-action outing, Judge does a fair job at making sick jokes about corporate America, he just doesn’t seem to make enough of them, ultimately leaving Office Space a bit flat. Straight from Swingers, Ron Livingston makes a surprisingly good Everyman as Peter, so sick of his job (“In a week, I’d say I do 15 minutes of real work.”) that he goes to a hypnotherapist for relaxation treatment. Of course (and the trailer doesn’t tell you this), the therapist dies while Peter is under, leaving him in an ultra-relaxed state without a care in the world. read the full review
