Briefly, the plot of Field of Dreams: A thirty-something man hears voices from a Higher Power, abandons his ties to his family, wanders the earth gathering a passel of believers, suffers the mocking laughter of his townspeople but soon redeems himself, and, finally, is reconciled with his father. Say what you want about Kevin Costner, but you can’t say he never played Jesus Christ. In the ‘90s, Costner’s messianic ambitions – his belief that his aw-shucks Everyman demanded an epic canvas to match his bank account – produced some of the worst films ever made. read the full review

After political (Raise the Red Lantern), sexy (Ju Dou) and reflective (The Road Home) films, writer-director Zhang Yimou embraces the aerodynamic action of digitally enhanced kung fu swordplay made famous in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The object here is to outdazzle that genre landmark and, perhaps, to outdo it at the box office. It's probably too late and too familiar a technique to do either, but there's plenty to admire despite those limitations, for which it has already received critical and award level acclaim. At the time of this writing, it is one of the 2002 Oscar nominees for Best Foreign Language Film. read the full review

Presented and assembled by Johnny Legend, Biker Mania presents trailers and highlights from 40 different motion pictures, ranging from famous (e.g. The Wild One and The Wild Angels) to the infamous (including several Al Adamson flicks such as Hell’s Bloody Devils and Angels’ Wild Women) and right down to the completely obscure (a preview entitled Racers From Hell, featuring what appears to be a collection of real-life racetrack follies, comes instantly to mind). read the full review
