| | 41. Oceans Eleven | | | Starring: George Clooney Brad Pitt Director: Steven Soderbergh | | Format: DVD Release Date: 5/15/2007 | | Ocean's Eleven (2001) - DVD Review By: Annette Cardwell - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 9/15/2007 4:23 AM | |
In the words of George Peppard from his immortal role on TVs The A-Team, I love it when a plan comes together, and, man, does it ever come together in nearly every possible way in Steven Soderberghs very clever, stylish, slick, and engrossing remake of the Rat Pack ensemble heist film Oceans Eleven.
Since his feature debut with sex, lies and videotape, Soderbergh has walked the tenuous line between art and entertainment. He very rarely insults his audiences intelligence or sense of humor or style -- even when he busted into the Hollywood big time. Now, a year after picking up his Oscar for the epic Traffic, he shows his range by dipping back into his old cheeky, seductive comedic bag of tricks last seen in Out of Sight. read the full review

| | 44. Lucky Ones | | | Starring: Michael Pena Rachel McAdams Director: Neil Burger | | Format: DVD Release Date: 1/27/2009 | | Lucky Ones - DVD Review By: Sean O'Connell - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 1/16/2009 7:45 PM | |
Soldiers returning home from Iraq deserve a proper narrative feature that addresses the physical discomfort, mental anguish, and emotional hardship they encounter while assimilating into the day-to-day routines of normal life. The Lucky Ones is not that film. It is, instead, a sloppily executed (though decently acted) road trip picture that manages to do one thing consistently, and that's veer off the path of good intentions and crash. When a blackout grounds every plane traveling in and out of New York City, three Army reservists played by Tim Robbins, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Pea are forced to share a rental car -- and an array of improbable, life-altering experiences. read the full review
