But at its core, Virgin is really about friendship. The friendship between Andy and the other guys at SmartTech is the heart of this film, but when it starts out Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a loner. He's not a loser really, he's simply living a quiet, lonely life. He fills his time with hobbies like videogames and action figure collection and why not, he has nothing better to do. He's alone, but he's not miserable. Not exactly. But in a way it's only because he doesn't know what he's missing. read the full review

Yes, that is the perfect word to describe Because I Said So. It is a light film that has a couple of poignant "real" moments adrift in the sea of a formulaic "chick flick." This is a movie that exists in that Hollywood-created fantasy of the romantic comedy. It is a land where people who should not, and would not, have these problems in the real world have the problems that probably exist in one form or another in the lives of many of their real world counterparts.

Wilk - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 11/5/2007 6:50 AM | | Reverend Frank's course is much like the entire movie - it's nothing you'd ever want to sit through. It is literally like watching 91 minutes of Williams doing stand-up routines that were never good enough for his act while dressed as a priest, and doing a toned down imitation of Bill Murray in What About Bob' . And just like Murray's character always carries around a fish, Williams carries around a freaky 10-year-old little helper read the full review

Here's a little something to think about, should you find your unfortunate, misguided, sorry butt dragged to see this utter waste of a movie. Who's more masculine-looking: Matthew McConaughey, with his Goldilocks looks and enormous pecs, or Kate Hudson, with her creepy, angular features and ironed-straight Guns N' Roses hairdo? This spurious conjecture is sadly far more interesting than How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, a film which effectively loses its audience inside of 10 minutes. read the full review
