Burn Notice-Season 2 new! | | | Starring: Bruce Campbell Gabrielle Anwar | | Format: DVD Release Date: 6/16/2009 | | Burn Notice, Season Two - DVD Review By: Fitz - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 6/22/2009 9:04 AM | | Imagine if you will a television series with the dry wit of House, the improvised gadgetry of MacGyver, and the spy games of the Bourne Identity. Then you might have an idea of what Burn Notice is like before you watch it. I have to admit when season one started airing on the USA Network, I avoided it, thinking it would be formulaic and boring. But I caught myself watching when season two began airing last summer. And then it was too late for me. I'd been ensnared by the witty dialog, clever contraptions, and a great pairing of writers and actors. At that point I went to Hulu and began watching all the episodes I'd missed from season one. And then I made sure I caught all of season two when it aired. I was hooked. read the full review

This is the point where the comic book movie has truly come into its own, surpassing the usual boundaries to become something more. It’s impossible to give full credit to anyone here, although names can certainly be tossed out as to who made this more special than it would have been without them. It’s not a perfect film by any stretch, but it’s a great thrill ride. read the full review

Well, someone had to wrest the monopoly on gangster movies from the hands of Scorsese and Coppola. So why not Mike Newell, of Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, to direct it? And why not put Johnny Depp in a starring role? And Anne Heche -- you know, Ellen's girlfriend -- as his wife!? It sounds bizarre, but put this group together with Monster of Acting Pacino and Quiz Show scribe Paul Attanasio and you've got a pleasant surprise on your hands, not to mention one of the longest-running films at the box office this year. read the full review

Pink Panther 2 (w/Bonus Disc) new! | | | Starring: Jean Reno Steve Martin Director: Harald Zwart | | Format: DVD Release Date: 6/23/2009 | | The Pink Panther 2 - DVD Review By: Luigi Bastardo - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/1/2009 4:40 PM | | Let’s pretend for a moment that the original Inspector Clouseau/Pink Panther films never existed. Sure, it’s a bit hard to imagine – it’s almost as painful to think about for me as is envisioning a world without Maruchan chicken-flavored ramen. But, remember, we’re only pretending, kids. Now, if you can picture a motion picture industry completely devoid of Peter Sellers and his subtle performance of the world’s clumsiest detective (and that is a very big “if,” I know), than Steve Martin does a pretty damn good job interpreting Inspector Jacques Clouseau. read the full review

McNamara - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 10/1/2008 8:12 PM | | Iron Man is a film that comic book junkies will no doubt love, but it also appeals to those who generally shy away from the superhero genre because it retains a relevance to the world we live in today. War, weapons and terrorism are all hot-button issues surging through the daily news, and Iron Man definitely has a contribution to make to that discussion. read the full review

The Departed (Blu-ray) | | | Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio Matt Damon Director: Martin Scorsese | | Format: Blu-Ray DVD Release Date: 2/13/2007 | User Rating: 5 | | The Departed (Two-Disc Special Edition) - DVD By: Edward Perkis - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 2/17/2007 6:55 PM | | The cat and mouse game played by the two leads under the eye of Nicholson and using cell phones as a key plot point is masterful and in Scorsese's assured hands, scenes pop off the screen with tension. He also uses classic rock songs in his trademark manner, impressively setting time, place, or mood. However, his use of "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" a ferocious song by the celtic punk band The Dropkick Murphys during the title card sequence (following an 18 minute prologue) really kicks the movie into high gear and is a brilliant choice. read the full review
