For the first five minutes of Transformers -- a sound-and-fury tornado of effects that could only entertain during summer's dumb-dumb dog days -- you will believe that bombastic blockbuster director Michael Bay was the right choice to helm the project. Peter Cullen, who has voiced heroic robot Optimus Prime since the original Transformers cartoon of 1984, explains the series' legacy as his velvet voice establishes this new movie's driving quest: The search for a hidden cube that is the centerpiece of an age-old war. Geeks will go crazy. read the full review

It's a title that promises much more than it could ever truly deliver. It plays on B-movie fans' wildest dreams but offers them something much less successful. It comes from Dreamworks, which means it will either be completely faithful to its unusual source material (a la Kung Fu Panda's homage to the films of Asian martial arts experts the Shaw brothers) or rely on the tired, post-Shrek formula of animation artistry meshed with tired pop culture quips. So what, exactly, does the latest CG spectacle Monsters vs. Aliens truly have to offer? Sadly, it's a little bit of moviemaking magic surrounded by loads and loads of scripted stupidity. read the full review

Having reached the all-important fifth season where the show can reach its full syndication potential, it can now be spun off into films released on DVD as to take advantage of a fanbase now forced to pay for something that they once received for free. The Sci-Fi Channel, which originally aired the series, has always been known for cutting shows too soon, but after watching the final season, they may have done it just at the right time. read the full review

It took a few episodes, along with the Trix Rabbit pulling some Bruce Lee moves to get some cereal, to get to really see the genius behind the drawings. I’m not yet a regular viewer so getting a chance to review this three-disc set was an offer I couldn’t pass up. I have to admit there are still times when I find myself wondering about the joke that just passed over my head, but there are those rare moments that send me into a roar with tears pouring out of my eyes while my stomach hurts from laughing so hard I can’t breath. read the full review

There are three essential elements for a polished Disney animated film: rich and detailed animation, inspirational music that is catchy and clever, and a clear message that is easy to understand. Alas, Disney’s latest, Lilo and Stitch, fails to live up to any of these. Lilo and Stitch tells the story of two outcasts searching for a place to fit in. Lilo is a young Hawaiian girl who is shunned by her friends because she picks fights and plays unfairly. Her older sister, Nani, is raising her because their parents died in a car crash. The social worker assigned to their case has threatened to remove Lilo from Nani’s care because she cannot control Lilo’s poor behavior. read the full review

Dark City | | | Starring: Kiefer Sutherland Rufus Sewell Director: Alex Proyas | | Format: DVD Release Date: 4/28/2009 | | Dark City (Director's Cut) - DVD Review By: Dan Schneider - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 5/21/2009 5:02 PM | | Australian filmmaker Alex Proyas’s 1998 film Dark City has been compared to many prior science fiction films, from Metropolis to Blade Runner, but, simply put, it’s better than those films. The comparison to Blade Runner, especially, is inapt, because that film is all style and little substance -- a claim made of Dark City, but, in truth, the film is mostly substance, with style about the edges. Yet, the style is so memorable that viewers and critics have had a hard time realizing it is a film that is original fiction, and not based upon a comic strip, as the urban legend goes. read the full review
