The idea seemed to be that no matter who we are, there is somewhere in the world we don't fit in because of language. It's an interesting theme and ties in nicely with the film's title. That obsession, mixed with loneliness and a genuine dislike for most people, make her dangerous to anyone who makes the mistake of letting her get to close.
