I'll never forget the first time I saw James Camerons The Terminator. I must have watched that movie at least 100 times during my youth. But during the 101st viewing, the VHS copy I stole from my uncle Daves video collection was eaten by my crappy old-school, top-loading VHS player. Damn, that sucked. The Terminator stands as a personal favorite. Schwarzenegger was in his prime in the 1980s -- in guilty pleasures like Commando, Raw Deal, Predator, Conan The Barbarian, and The Running Man. But he gave many kids my age something to hang on to during the Reagan years. Schwarzenegger was our generation's John Wayne, a muscle-bound bodyguard extracting his own kind of vengeance from a cold and dangerous world. read the full review

| | 8. Shortbus | | | Starring: Raphael Barker Director: John Cameron Mitchell | | Format: DVD Release Date: 3/13/2007 | | Shortbus - DVD By: Don Willmott - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 3/2/2007 6:07 PM | |
John Cameron Mitchell 's thesis in Shortbus harkens back to E.M. Forster's classic exhortation: "Only connect." In Mitchell's world, however, a big part of connection is sexual connection, and a big part of sexual connection is the ability to give and enjoy earth-shattering orgasms. Mitchell's characters are in search of sexual connection, and it's a shocking, hardcore search that brings intensely graphic (and real) sex to mainstream cinema for the first time. To put it another way: Oh. My. God. read the full review

| | 26. Fatal Attraction (Special Collector's Edition) | | | Starring: Glenn Close Michael Douglas Director: Adrian Lyne | | Format: DVD Release Date: 1/4/2005 | | Fatal Attraction - DVD Review By: Christopher Null - filmcritic.com DVD Reviews Published on: 5/29/2009 2:39 PM | |
Finally released on DVD, Fatal Attraction proves itself just as deliciously thrilling as when it was first released in 1987. Glenn Close's career got its first big boost in 1985's Jagged Edge, but her role as Fatal's Alex Forrest pushed her into stardom. She seems like a nice enough gal at the start -- though her hair could use some work, she's a witty and sexy book editor... just the right kind of gal to lure Michael Douglas's Dan Gallagher (a lawyer... married) into her bed. read the full review
