But it is a new version that’s been re-cut, re-mastered, and has new special effects. Since I hadn’t seen the pilot episode for quite some time, I had to pull out my original copy from the Season 1 box set and compare it to the new version. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a drastic difference or if it was just going to be a marketing gimmick with just a few minor changes to the original. I noticed the differences immediately in the credits. They began as they would in a feature-length film, and gone was the traditional opening credit scene against the backdrop of the Stargate. read the full review

Speaking in semi-awe of two snorting, greasy teenage vulgarians, Lance (Clark Duke) diagnoses their problem thusly: "They don't know how to close." His appreciation comes from their relentless, unfazed ability to open -- they will speak to, and hit on, any girl they come into contact with. I feel similarly about Sex Drive. It has a certain comic dexterity, a willingness to set up sight gags, cutaways, and funny lines, many of the latter coming from Duke as an unlikely nerd-lothario encouraging his virginal buddy Ian (Josh Zuckerman) to get laid by any means necessary. But while the movie produces a fair amount of chuckles, it also cobbles together a whole lot of scenes with no discernible endgame apart from a gross-out punch line. read the full review

Not everyone can make a movie. The motion picture art form, while not incredibly complicated, contains enough nuances and pitfalls to circumvent even the most seasoned show business veteran. Perfect proof of celluloid's selective process arrives in the form of Mamma Mia!, the big screen adaptation of the hit jukebox musical. While it ends up being a whimsical and quite wonderful experience on a superficial level, the vision behind the lens is radioactive in its undeniable cluelessness. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) lives on a remote Greek island with her ex-rock star mother Donna (Meryl Streep). She is about to marry the British bo-hunk Sky (Dominic Hooper), and she really wants her dad to give her away. read the full review

| | 20. Stargate Sg1-Season 10 | | | Starring: Amanda Tapping Ben Browder | | Format: DVD Release Date: 3/24/2009 | User Rating: 4.7 | | Stargate SG-1 Season 10 - DVD Review By: Mack Rawden - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 8/21/2007 8:16 PM | | In all honesty, the twenty-one hours that I spent watching 'Stargate: SG-1 Season 10' was the biggest waste of time I have ever encountered. Here are a short list of things I would recommend that you do rather than buy this DVD: read a book, wash your car, wash someone else's car, check out 'Battlestar Galactica', clean out your gutters, or even let your wife teach you how to scrapbook. Yes, I've sunk to the level of endorsing scrapbooking. It's just that bad. read the full review | |
