Some film ads make promises they can’t keep, totally misrepresenting the final product. But the ads for Old School give you a good idea of what you’re in for: an old man wrestling with topless coeds in KY Jelly, Will Ferrell in a cougar mascot outfit jumping directly into a hoop of fire, and Vince Vaughn doing an iron cross on rings with a lit cigarette clenched in his lips. | | 7. Idiocracy | | | Starring: Luke Wilson Dax Shepard Director: Mike Judge | | Format: DVD Release Date: 7/14/2009 | User Rating: 5 | | Idiocracy - DVD By: Margaret Williams - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 1/22/2007 10:55 PM | | Idiocracy has a lot to offer as far as social commentary goes and Mike Judge keeps up his opinion without pausing to worry about what others will think. That's what makes him so good. But, unlike his other film and the lasting effect of Office Space and its cast of characters, Idiocracy won't be so loved and memorable. It's a good film for the time that it is running, but after the movie is over, it is not so endearing. Idiocracy is definitely a film to watch, but not necessarily a DVD to buy. read the full review

| | 9. Vacancy | | | Starring: Kate Beckinsale Luke Wilson Director: Nimrod Antal | | Format: DVD Release Date: 10/28/2008 | | Vacancy - DVD Review By: Ed Perkis - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 8/18/2007 9:49 PM | | Although Vacancy incorporates a lot of what a thriller fan has seen in other movies dating back to Psycho and beyond, it does corner the market on serial killers as marriage therapy. David and Amy begin the movie tossing bitter comments back and forth due to a tragedy in their recent past, but that is all forgotten once the butcher knives come out. When not running, ducking, or crawling for their very lives, they renew their love for each other. Since there isn't much else going on plot-wise, it's better than nothing. read the full review | |

Two weeks after we were spoiled by the sludgy monument of Grindhouse, a whole other low-budget thrill ride from the annals of our sticky-floor, damp-seat, scratched-print celluloid history is deployed with full-force. Following his promising debut, Kontroll, director Nimrod Antal goes four-to-the-floor for a miniature exercise in suspense and terror with his first English-language film, Vacancy. read the full review
