The whole album is a highlight and a music lovers delight in not just the vocals but the chimes, sax, bass drums, piano and harmonies. The talented singer also had a hand in writing her songs and the style of her writing is fresh and refreshingly honest.

Blige - Reflections (A Retrospective) By: Matthew Milam - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 12/14/2006 5:21 AM | | Mary J. Blige sings from the gut. Sometimes what's in there isn't pretty or safe for all ears. The voice she speaks from might not have either of those ingredients, but neither was that true for Billie Holiday (one of her inspirations) or Otis Redding (who sang the same way). For Reflections, you see her evolution from a woman in search of external validation to a woman who discovered peace within herself. read the full review

Evolution (w/ Bonus DVD) | | Enhanced Cd Artist: Ciara Release Date: 12/5/2006 Format: CD | | Ciara - The Evolution - CD By: Sterfish - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 2/7/2007 12:38 PM | | Two years is not a whole lot of time but in the music business, it can be. In the two-plus years since Ciara's debut single "Goodies," she's sold many albums, won a Grammy, and suffered through a public relationship (and breakup) with rapper Bow Wow. Now, she has used that whirlwind two-year period as the inspiration for her sophomore album The Evolution. Filled with many radio-ready songs produced by top hitmakers, The Evolution is a very enjoyable album even if it's not exactly as profound as it wants to be.

Planet Earth | | Artist: Prince Release Date: 7/24/2007 Format: CD | | Prince - Planet Earth - CD Review By: Donald Gibson - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 7/24/2007 9:52 AM | | Prince needs to tap back into his dirty mind. His previous album, 3121, offered some hope that the man could still deliver the erogenous goods, with songs like “Black Sweat” and “Lolita”. However, his latest release, Planet Earth, regresses into safe and average R & B territory. If this album were released by anyone other than Prince, few people would even take notice. read the full review
