There will likely be people out there who will like The Bucket List. They will like its easy-to-follow premise, the hollow and overplayed jokes that occasionally come rumbling along, and the AARP-approved folksiness. And they'll really like Jack Nicholson, mugging for the camera as though terrified people will forget that he's still that same devilish old scamp he's been for longer than most moviegoers have been alive. This is not to say that the reason The Bucket List is a terrible film is because there are so many people out there predisposed to liking it. read the full review

| | 3. 40 Year Old Virgin (Unrated) (HD) | | | Starring: Catherine Keener Steven Carell Director: Judd Apatow | | Format: High Definition DVD Release Date: 5/22/2007 | | The 40 Year-Old Virgin - DVD Review By: Josh Tyler - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 5/31/2007 12:31 PM | | From the title you'd think The 40 Year-Old Virgin is a movie about sex, and yes that's certainly a part of it. But at its core, Virgin is really about friendship. The friendship between Andy and the other guys at SmartTech is the heart of this film, but when it starts out Andy Stitzer (Steve Carell) is a loner. He's not a loser really, he's simply living a quiet, lonely life. He fills his time with hobbies like videogames and action figure collection and why not, he has nothing better to do. He's alone, but he's not miserable. Not exactly. But in a way it's only because he doesn't know what he's missing. read the full review | |

I can only presume that the British calendar is so uniquely screwy that it allows for a Christmas movie to open a week after Halloween. Or maybe Love Actually is just in a universe of its own… one in which the prime minister is inaugurated in November and where an adverb can be used to modify a noun. But a little oddness is forgivable: Directing a movie is a strange place for Richard Curtis, who's written umpteen Brit-friendly movies and TV shows over the years but hasn't directed one, until now. Little surprise then that Love Actually plays like a Richard Curtis Greatest Hits compilation. The film comprises nine major and barely-connected stories (as near as I can count) revolving around love and the weeks before Christmas. read the full review

| | 29. Blazing Saddles-30th Anniversary (Special Edition) new! | | | Starring: Cleavon Little Gene Wilder Director: Mel Brooks | | Format: DVD Release Date: 11/10/2009 | | Blazing Saddles - DVD By: Matt Paprocki - Blogcritics.org Reviews Published on: 1/22/2007 3:17 AM | | The greatest film comedy ever made gets a gorgeous video makeover. Mel Brooks is a comic genius. This undisputable fact is proven by Blazing Saddles, the sixth all-time greatest comedy according to the AFI and ninth when Bravo handed out their awards. Granted it wasn't Mel Brooks alone, but his ability to get past the hand of the censors was the key to this film's success then and it still is today. read the full review | |

Heartbreak Kid (HD) | | | Starring: Ben Stiller Director: Bobby Farrelly Peter Farrelly | | Format: High Definition DVD Release Date: 1/8/2008 | | The Heartbreak Kid - DVD Review By: Jarad I. Wilk - Cinema Blend DVD Reviews Published on: 1/6/2008 9:49 PM | | The Heartbreak Kid reunites Stiller with the whacky minds of the Farrelly Brothers, the creators of the 1998 smash-hit There's Something About Mary. The gross-out, unpredictable and off-the-wall humor of the Farrelly's is still present, but the heart that always seems to find its way into their movies is nowhere to be found. read the full review

With stand-up turned movie star Adam Sandler, there's no middle ground. You either love his ludicrous frat boy antics, or bristle at his continued comic juvenilia. He's either a god, or a clod, depending on your own particular sense of humor. So it's no surprise that his films have failed to earn an equally consistent level of acceptance. For every Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison, there's a Little Nicky or I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. About the closest he's ever come to creating something that everyone can agree on is 1998's The Waterboy. By melding his crazed character development with the standard sports film formula, Sandler found a way to make most of the mainstream happy. read the full review

Surprisingly, such is not the case, and the concept of two men pairing up to skate has quite a different intention than, let's say, Kevin James and Adam Sandler's fake marriage in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. read the full review

It's no stretch to call Adam McKay's Step Brothers the year's stupidest film. Part of me feels bad labeling it as such, but then I remember that no movie boasting scenes of a grown man licking dog feces really wants to be taken seriously on any level. And yet, I'd be lying if I told you Brothers didn't make me laugh. read the full review
