I purchased this dvd box set as a Christmas present for someone living outside my home. So, I can't review & rate this dvd and just left the rating numbers as is cause there was no "N/A" for situations like this. However, I will say that I like the service & price I got from buy.com, so they get the "5" rating. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Family Guy Idiotic Genious Thursday, January 26, 2006 rhoadsdee from Miami
What can I say. This show is beyond funny and belongs in any DVD collection and its one of the rare shows that you'll come back to over and over. You might be offended by some of its material since its so "out there" but the next second you wont be able to keep from laughing. The interaction between Stewie and Brian is killer and Peters stupidity brings home the laughs. I can't recomend this enough. I even tried to get my mother to watch this! Thats how much I recomend this to people! Lay down the cash and do youself a favor, and get Family Guy. You'll want to pick up the other three DVDs. Was this review helpful?

Well I do not really know where to start off. Family Guy is a great show and I so wanted to own the DVD box set. I bought it and to my amazement some of the episodes are not how they originally aired on television. In an episode, Road to Rhoad Island I believe, Stewie has this bit where he is going through airport security. He sings show tunes to the guards in order to get his little backpack full of explosives, and all the other items Stewie usually carries around, through. After he picks up his bag, he says, "I sure hope Osama bin Laden doesn't know show tunes." You then see Osama singing to the guard. That entire bit is cut out of the episode. It could not have been more than 15 seconds, but I for one do not think it should have been cut out. The twin towers are also digitally edited out of a few episodes. However I do know some people crack over even the mention of 9/11 so I do see some relavance to why they cut it. The worst part about all of this is they did not even bother to put in a deleted scenes section. There is no saying on the box that contained within the DVDs are not how the shows were aired originally. If I had been informed that the episodes were altered, and there is no deleted scenes section on the DVDs, I may not have been so upset when I found that out. I hope you find this helpful in your purchase. Was this review helpful?

Family Guy is absolutely the funniest cartoon I have ever seen! Quite possibly, it's the funniest show ever made! The plot revolves around a man named Peter, his wife, his children, and a talking dog. The dog and baby are absolute geniuses, which adds to the amaizing level of humor. In one episode, Stewey, the baby, refuses to eat his broccoli, so he makes a device to alter the weather, so the broccoli can't grow. In the previous episode, he tries to hypnotise his mother so he can kill her. Was this review helpful?

What a relief, I can finally not worry about wearing out my taped episodes of Family Guy! This show has me almost falling out of my seat every episode. I liked it so much I devoted a number of tapes to it and created a chart of which episodes were on which tapes. The show has a Monty Pythonesque surrealism in its humor, but also has plenty of potty humor that is at least as appealing to adults as South Park. Pratfalls and maiming abound, mostly involving the father Peter Griffin, whose stupidity is on such a scale that his injuries spark a seed of glee, but he remains more likable and sympathetic than Homer Simpson, for example.

I cannot recommend this series highly enough, and the series actually was even more riotous in the beginnning, although the later episodes I have on tape still get watched every few months without losing their appeal. Was this review helpful?

I can't believe it is finally here. Quite possibly the funniest cartoon ever, this coming from a diehard Simpsons and South Park fan. I have never seen such a consistantly funny, witty, risque and shortlived series. I guess America just wasn't ready for this show. Aside from Seinfeld this was my most anticipated DVD TV series and I am ording it today. I suggest you do too. Was this review helpful?

Its one of the funniest, most original tv shows I have ever seen! I always laugh at each episode, and the humor goes beyond that of the Simpsons and can be compared to that of South Park! I can't wait to get my hands on this collection! Was this review helpful?

If you even remotely like the simpsons, have any love for dumb and dumber, ever found yourself laughing at the TV show Scrubs, or think that Conan O'Brien is the least bit funny, you'll absolutely love this show. From Stewie's mischevious plots to ruin his mother, to Brian the dog's suave, sophisticated demeanor despite his drinking problems and the fact that he IS a dog, the Griffens come together in every episode as possibly the most hilarious family ever on TV.
I recommend this show to anyone who likes to laugh, but have to warn that this is NO children's cartoon. Almost every episode has mature material in it that is definitely not appropriate for any child.
If you are an adult who likes to laugh, then this is for you. Was this review helpful?

What the deuce?? FOX finally took out Stewie's efforts to conquer the estrogen-filled being that spawned him, but he and the rest of his family have returned on this gloriously funny DVD set!! You will truly see some of your own family in the Griffins, even if you deny it later as I often do!
I have every Family Guy recorded onto the dinosaur of VHS. To own it on DVD - well...there are tears in my eyes at the mere thought of it...
You have known me for two paragraphs now - you can trust me: BUY THIS DVD - even if it means that you must sell your others. Go ahead: They would gladly sacrifice themselves for this cause. Was this review helpful?
