| | | Features: DVD Disney's 20th full-length animated masterpiece, The Aristocats is an unforgettable mix of wild adventures, colorful characters, and jazzy music your family will find absolutely irresistible. A timeless treasure, it was the last animated feature to get the nod from Walt Disney himself. This enchanting tale begins in Paris, when a kind and eccentric millionaire wills her entire estate to her family--a family of adorable high-society cats. Overhearing her plan, Edgar, the greedy, bumbling butler, catnaps Duchess, the elegant, soft-spoken mother, and her three mischievous kittens and abandons them in the French countryside. The charming Thomas O'Malley, a rough-and-tumble alley cat, saunters by and offers to escort them home. Along the way they stop at Thomas' "pad," where Scat Cat and his band of swingin' jazz cats perform the memorable "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat". Enriched by "high-style Disney animation" (The New Yorker) and engaging music by Academy Award-winning songwriters the Sherman brothers (Mary Poppins), The Aristocats can now take its well-deserved place in your family's collection of Disney masterpieces--on DVD for the very first time. Editor's Note
Set in 1910, this Disney animated classic offers plenty of adventure, humor and music (especially performances by Maurice Chevalier). After high-society cat Duchess (Eva Gabor) and her three kittens inherit a fortune from their mistress, a greedy butler plots to get rid of them--and collect the cash himself. The villainous servant kidnaps the entire feline family and takes them far away from their comfortable Paris home. A bunch of animal pals come to the rescue however, and help restore the cats to their proper place. The heroic rescuers include the friendly alley cat Thomas O'Malley, the gallant mouse Roquefort, and the hilarious hounds Lafayette and Napoleon. THE ARISTOCATS was the last film personally supervised by Walt Disney himself.
