#PROS#
-> Ability to see HD TV signals on your monitor at 1080, unlike usual digital convertors that can only display at 480p
-> mp3 player; plays music on your usb hard drive
-> Digital picture frame; again utlizing images on your usb hard drive
-> Picture quality is great; I got 24 channels using the antenna provided, which I think is pretty good, given how small the antenna is.
-> TV functions (channel info, picture settings, etc.)work perfectly
#CONS#
-> Does not have the ability of showing non-digial input. For example, if you have a dvd player that you want to connect to this, to watch movies on your monitor; you will need a dvd player with hdmi output and then use a hdmi-to-dvi-d cable to connect it to this device. Component or RCA cables won't work.
-> The blue power status light can probably be seen from the moon! Very distracting and hurts the eye. Probably a minor issue, but an irritant for me; there should have been a way to turn it off. and if you cover it, the IR window gets covered, so your remote does not work.
#OVERALL#
Great product. Does what it says. Great design, classy finish. Was this review helpful?

I was surprised at the excellent sensitivity. I received stations I'd not seen before. Part of the good reception was due to reflections by storm clouds. Alas, when the storm left so did the stations. I expect more local stations if the switch over is ever complete. The setup menu could use an update, it is not as fluid as a new HDTV. Their web site mentions downloadable updates for some of their products. It would be great if the front memory stick port could be used for this. Nothing in the manual about it though. I used it on an older 1080i front projector set that has RGB inputs. Was this review helpful?

I bought this product about two weeks ago. I have used for this entire time for my mom to watch her spanish soap-operas. It has responded very well, no complain with the overall design, quality, performance, etc. I would only said that they could have added a longer wire to put the antenna further away from the device, although it's about 3 feet alrady. I have it installe in my apartment, it gets 26 channels, some of them still in analog frequency. Also, I have to find out whether this device it's going to allow me to watch more channels in the future, since some devices let you receive only from channel 14-69, or 1-69. Was this review helpful?

This tuner easily picked up most of the channels I wanted. The digital broadcast images are extremely crisp and clear, much better than previous reception, and the little antenna provided did a surprisingly good job picking up local stations. However when the signal is poor, digital reception breaks up into pixellation and the sound drops out, so I added a rabbit ear antenna which slightly improved reception of marginal channels.
The main problem with this unit is that it only has two output resolutions: 1920x1080i and 1280x720p, which wasn't mentioned in the specifications or on the box. There is no letterboxing option for a 4:3 monitor, so I end up with a distorted image on my 1280x1024 Dell monitor. If you have a widescreen monitor or TV that can accomodate one of these resolutions or AV/YPbPr connections, you'll probably be quite pleased with this product.
The manual provides very limited information, and the button labels on the remote are quite cryptic. The automatic scan works fine, but if you want to remove some of the channels, you'll have to reset and manually enter all channels you do want. This is a tedious trial-and-error process, since the scanning channel identifiers are not referenced anywhere else.
Once it is set up, it works quite well. It doesn't take long to switch between channels, though a channel information overlay covers much of the screen for about five seconds after switching. This can be cancelled with another button on the remote, but there is no way to prevent it happening each time.
If it works with your equipment, this seems to be quite good value for the price. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works well Saturday, January 17, 2009 LK from Waterloo, Illinois
I get a quality picture from my standard TV antenna.
The one complaint I have is not having a SD signal pass-through
connection for other RF signal sources. It is necessary to use
a splitter before the box on a TV that uses a remote source
cable as my secondary TV does. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Loves it! Saturday, January 17, 2009 Patrick from Colorado Springs,CO
I have had the product for over a month now and enjoy it very much. Just a few small things that I would change. 1. When it gives the TV guide its not very comprehinsive. 2. The ease of set up is a little difficult but, not impossible be patient. Over all I like the product gives me 1080i on my 55 inch TV. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Shows the local chanels in hi def Tuesday, January 06, 2009 A Customer from Spencer, NE
I bought this box for my son who has a 24 inch computer monitor for a TV. He tells me the picture is sharp and has great inputs but won't work with his cable provider. Cable provider wants to sell him a de-scrambler because it won't work with their system. He also says the remote buttons are too small for big fingers. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works as described Saturday, January 03, 2009 A Customer from Frederick, MD
I had to scan twice to pick up all the unscrambled digital cable channels. Picture quality was very good on 720p LCD using Component Video Cables. There are better tuners but cost a lot more so I would recommend this product. Was this review helpful?
