A universal IR code database refers to a library of infrared codes built-in to a particular remote. This feature allows a remote to control your equipment without needing to learn individual signals. Activities to control multiple devices with one button press
Instead of operating your components one by one, activity based control blends the most commonly used functions into activities such as "Watch a movie" or "Listen to CD". I was fighting the multi remote war with 4 seperate remotes controlling a wide variety of electronics. I picked up this remote at a great price and within minutes I was controlling everything with ONE remote. Many smiles for the whole family now that things are nice and easy again! Easy to setup ... works good with TV , Tivo and Cable .. Home Theatre works well with sound but havent been able to figure out how to switch between DVD,AUX, Radio. Was this review helpful?

"I just want to watch a movie" - it used to take 3 remotes, about 20 clicks on various buttons. Now - you pick "Watch DVD" from a lighted color menu and click ONE button, and everything is set up. Programming each device was a snap - all menu driven, no book required. The activities (Watch DVD, Watch TV, etc) are macros - you record the series of button presses once and save it. You will also have to do a little custom setup (so when it's set to run the DVD, the volume actually runs the receiver volume). You can also program the 4 custom buttons at the top, or "fix" individual buttons using the old remote.
My wife says it's the best $25 we've spent this year. And I'm a hero. How often do you get to be a hero for only $25??? Was this review helpful?

Cheaper than a Harmony, but neither as robust nor as easy to setup and use. Had to use the learning function a lot to get it to work with my WD HD TV box.
One thing to note: When the batteries get low, instead of providing a warning, it will simply reboot (!) in the middle of an operation. Before I figured this out, I had reset my system, hoping it would fix the issue, which, of course, caused all my settings to be lost. Was this review helpful?
