5 of 5 wow Thursday, December 04, 2008
Carey from Augusta, Ga

I'm a bit surprised at the rating these received. Especially since the air hogs rated quite high. I've got both and the Syma gets all my time when I want to fly. It is smoother, quieter, looks better, is not made of styrofoam and paper, and flies better. I don't know what issues people seem to be having with trimming the heli for proper hover and forward flight. I can only assume they did not read, follow, or understand the instructions for adjustment. Charging in hours? Mine takes ~5-10 mins to charge and can fly for 6-8 mins before it starts to drop off. Maybe I just got lucky. I've bought 2 of these (one for myself and one as a gift) and both are excellent. I also have yet to break any blades after multiple hits against walls, furniture, dogs (sorry pups), etc. I guess that may be the difference between adults flying vs. kids flying. Anyways, I would recommend this over the air hogs any day.

5 of 5 Toys Have Come Along Way ! Wednesday, August 13, 2008
John from Augusta, Ga.
I've spent alot of money over the years for toys that could'nt do what is possible with this marvelous designed helicopter. True, It's not going to hold up very long with young children because it's just not made to be bounced off the wall. But with a smooth hand at the controls you can have alot of fun with a truly well designed inexpensive toy.

3 of 5 It works, though not great Monday, July 21, 2008
scotch from Cleveland, OH
For the money, it flies, though it doesn't do much else. One major problem is to get the trim working to keep it from spinning horizontally and only flying up or down. There are 2 replacement fins for the tail included, and switching these can help the problem of spinning and allow it to fly straight. For $15, I can't imagine that anyone would expect much more than the barest basics. If I spent more on this, I would likely be annoyed, however--one might spend the same amount of money on a movie or a meal... I wouldn't recommend this for the impatient, but once you learn how to work the controls it will fly straight. I doubt that it will last another 2 weeks, but the brief amusement provided was worth the money, and allowed us to get some fun pictures with friends. Maybe before it breaks, we'll try to fly it across the valley; at least the crash might be nice?!

3 of 5 Maybe??? Monday, July 21, 2008
A Customer from Boca Raton, FL
It really all depends on whether you have alot of room to operate the helicopter. It is hard to take off straight up... but still will probably entertain a kid for a few days... i recommend that you use rechargable batteries since it drains regular batteries extrememly quickly. and i hope you have some Krazy Glue since for me the metal balancing plate flew off at least 10 times... but all in all it was pretty cheap and if you find spinning objects fun... than this is the item for you

4 of 5 fun but flimsy Monday, July 21, 2008
Chris from VA
It was a neat toy. light, fun to play (at least for a while). The complaints would have to be: 1) after few flight the plastic shell start to crack 2) when it flew up higher (like 12 feet), it suddenly lost control - probably the remote wireless signal is not strong enough. 3) while the up control seems to ok, the other controls seems to be either not responsive or not really working...

2 of 5 (Sorta) fun while it lasted Monday, July 21, 2008
A Customer from Santa Cruz, CA
It was cheap enough to tempt me to buy one, but it flew maybe 3 dozen times before it broke...a clever toy, but definitely not well made!

4 of 5 I love it! Monday, July 21, 2008
A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
I love these things. Bought nearly identical one at Brookstone for twice the price. True, you won't turn it on and touchdown on a dime the first time, but the same is true of a $2,000 r/c helicopter. Helicopters are sensitive, even real ones. Rotation can be mitigated by following the instructions. My four grandkids have a ball with them in my living room and they range in age from 3 to 5. These things are very small and appear to be very delicate, but we haven't managed to put one out of service in a month of flying. Just be careful around things such as long hair, strings on carpeting, etc. If it wraps around the rotor, it is tricky to remove.

1 of 5 this helicopter doesn't work Sunday, July 20, 2008
A Customer from reno, NV
I have bought this helicopter which according to the picture seems to be medium size, when I got it I realized it was very small. When I tried to turn it on I followed the instruction and they say that it would be charged in 20 minutes, after two hours and a half it was not yet ready. Moreover, after turn in on and off many times, because they recommend to turn in off while charging and on while you use it, and because my hopeness to be ready after 20 minutes, after 30 minutes, after half and hour, the very small and sensible switch broke off. So It never worked, not even once. I totally recommend not to buy this product, everything that I have bought before from buy.com worked but I don't know what happened with this crappy helicopter. And the most dissapointed is that I bought it for some little children that were anxiously waiting for the helicopter to work.

5 of 5 Amazing R/C Helicopter at an Amazing Price Sunday, July 20, 2008
Vitit Kantabutra from Pocatello, Idaho
I was skeptical at first because of the single terrible review on buy.com, and because of the unbelievably low price. But given how expensive shipping normally costs these days, I thought a helicopter with free shipping is like a free helicopter with a shipping charge. So I decided to order it. To my surprise, the Fairy helicopter is not only cute, but is actually able to fly well! The trick is to start out in a calm place (like indoors), and to give it just enough throttle so that it actually lifts off instead of just spinning around like what the first reviewer wrote. Once it really lifts off my dining table, it flew almost straight forward and doesn't spin around. Because it can spin before it really lifts off (which may be due to my lack of skill), its initial flight direction may be unpredictable. But that's a small problem if you think ahead of time about how to control it if it tries to fly into you. This tiny helicopter is far less controllable than a larger, $100+ helicopter, but it is also much more resilient. Given my small dining room and my being new to helicopters (my other one is a $160 one), I crashed the little thing every time. Yet it keeps on working after 10 crashes, often into a hard object. (Give it enough throttle to lift off, but not so much that it flies too fast and crashes hard.) I just ordered my second Fairy helicopter before I started to write this review, to make sure this positive review doesn't cause buy.com to sell them out before I can get it! By the way, if you're into R/C helicopters, you might agree with me that 24 hours is a long time for one to last! That's just the nature of R/C helicopter flying. Anyway, the Fairy (at least the one I have) is well-built. It's mind-boggling just to see the tiny tail rotor work, driven by that tiny motor!

1 of 5 A very cheaply made toy Sunday, July 20, 2008
A Customer from Forest Hills, NY
You get what you paid for - is the best short description I could come up with for this item... The remote's charger function didn't work out of the box (luckily I had one from another toy that fit this one). The on/off switch broke on the 2nd day of use, etc... I don't recommend this product to anyone.

4 of 5 Not too bad... Saturday, July 19, 2008
Ashley from Portland, Me
I have one f these and they are so much fun. You need to have a place you can fly them that is large and open so you don't hit anything. They are great, they are hard to fly, but they stand the crashes. Don't buy the updated version from Micro Hughes though. It does not work, I have 2 I bought from Brohauns.com and they are junk - can't get them off the ground. The Syma Fairy is way better. I spent $25 dollars on the updated version and these are cheaper and better.

1 of 5 Not worth Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Prashant from New Berlin,WI
I bought 2 of these, I tried one, it starts revolving around its own body and can not be controlled. It settles down after trimming it, however keeps circling around without moving forward. Selecting left button for forward movement causes self-revolution again. If you just want to have a helicopter flying in air uncontrolled, buy this else find something better. On the better side it is definitely robust and survived at least 50 hits against my wooden wall and ceiling.

1 of 5 Don't do it!!! Tuesday, July 01, 2008
johnyoungbloodsbac from Santa Barbara, CA
I bought four of these thing for gifts and one for myself. Three of them we couldn't even get to fly straight. They would just twist in an out of control circle. the other two ended up breaking in less than 24 hours. Instead of buying this, make a paper airplane out of your $20 bill and you will have tons more fun.
