I researched for several months before making this purchase and i'm very happy with this vacuum. Cleans exceptionally well and the power paw is great for picking up cat hair. The HEPA system actually works because I don't sneeze at all while vacuuming and I have chronic allergies. (It made me realize how poorly my hoover upright worked. And it was only 2 1/2 years old.) Yes, it's a little heavy, but every vacuum that has strong suction is. I guess it's because of the large amp motor. If you have pets, you won't be dissapointed. The only thing I wished it had was an automatic cord rewind. But for the price, I have no problem living without it. My last eureka lasted me 10 years, and when I finally got rid of it, it was because It was so beat-up, but it still worked great. Not the case with my 2 1/2 year old Hoover. We've had the 4870MZ for about a month now, with no complaints. We bought it based on all the positive reviews and to replace an old Bissell from WalMart.
This thing is like night and day compared to that. Powerful suction (sounds like a hurricane instead of a whine), more attachments, a hard-floor setting that turns off the brush rotor, etc.
The MZ comes with the Power Paw attachment, which is a second upholstery attachment with its own small rotating brush inside. Seems pretty useful, but maybe not worth buying on its own.
Overall, the wife and I are extremely pleased. Was this review helpful?

I recently had my carpets cleaned and decided to buy a new Vac. I purchased this Eureka vacuum cleaner from Buy.com. I ordered it on a Friday and it was delivered the following Wed with free shipping. I vacuumed my house and it picked up a full bag of dirt. I have gone through quite a few vacuums trying to find the right one, and this is it. Consumer Reports also rates this for one of the THE best for hardwood floors and it most surely is. The only thing I don't like about it is it's a bit on the heavier size. Other than that, if you're looking for a solid hardwood vacuum, this is the one. Was this review helpful?
