I got this for less than a Jefferson each during Buy's Xmas sale and bought 6 of these with free shipping. Did not disappoint for the price and value then so I rated it a 5.
Mainly used for Skype calls which works fine.
The quality of the picture is not on par with an older Logitech Quickcam 5000 pro (a $65 product though). May have been enhanced with the software bundle that came with it but I didn't bother with the bloatware.
The size and weight fits easily anywhere and people love the different colors available. Was this review helpful?

The image is clear during the day the low light is not bad either image looks way better with "white" or daylight bulbs camera is small and has a pleasant look the microphone is a bit "inside a can" sounding but not bad the top button on the cam is useless because i chose not to install the bloatware that came with the camera instalation was painless.(you can't get a better cam for the "sale" price)
i gave it a 3 in value because the current price almost twice as much that I paid for. as far as performance I gave it a 4 because my logitech quick cam stx witch i got on sale for about the same price as I paid for this one has better image capture has a bit more fluid motion and the microphone is also much better.
knock the price back in half and this is an exceptional value Was this review helpful?

Bought two of these to go on home PCs. Works exactly as advertised, with easy setup. Went with the default MS Messenger IM client and it works very well so far. Need to try to contact from a laptop to see how that is, but PC to PC over the 'net works great. Image quality very good and sound pick-up is really excellent. Only con I've seen so far is that sometimes the little special effects work and sometimes not. Don't know if they do so based on available bandwidth at the time of transmission or what, but not something we'd use all the time anyway. Overall, though, for the price these are an excellent deal, easy to setup, and perform very well. Recommended. Was this review helpful?

I bought this and installed it for my mother. I was amazed at how easy the installation was and how clear the picture was. After seeing this, I went and bought one for me to replace my Creative Lab webcam (which is far inferior). While visiting my mother, she also had me install a webcam for a friend of hers. I went to the local Walmart and they didn't carry this model and were out of the VX-3000 and so I bought an HP Pro webcam. After installing and working with that product, this one is FAR superior. I also like the flexible base on the camera so that it can adapt to whatever form you need. Was this review helpful?

I bought 2 when these were on sale for $25 each. So at that price these cams are a steal. They give great picture quality, in most lighting situation.
Mainly bought the webcam to do video chats with friends and family.
It works great with gmail voice and video chat, AIM chat, and Oovoo. Those are the only software I've tried it with.
Overall very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to others.
Only downside, I wish it worked with my Xbox 360, (considering it is a Microsoft product). Was this review helpful?

I bought this for 19$ so was not expecting a good performance.But u know what it really rocks.I was amazed it works in the low light really well.
Cons:
1.sometimes I faced problem to adjust it with my laptop(not a very big issue).

I haven't opened the new box yet, although I've already purchased 2 other identical items. I bought one for our daughter 2000 miles away, and one for my company laptop so I can see our grandbaby while on the road. The unopened one is for our home computer so my wife can join in the fun. The camera is great. A great deal for a good camera. It works great with AOL and Yahoo Messenger, but Windows Live? Can't get it to work with Windows Live at all.
We use it to communicate with each other, and are very satisfied with the camera and built in microphone. Sound quality is great too.

I was not sure what to expect, but the price was great and the camera does well enough for a video phone call. The only issue I had was that I had to install other software to make the call, like Live Messegner fro MS. If you want a good camera for a great price, this is it. You won't be disappointed. Cons- if you move fast it blurs a little.

The webcam works well. The only grumble would be Microsoft's heavy tie-in to their Windows Live service, but you are not obligated to install it. However pressing the button on top of the webcam immediately attempts to start Windows Live or prompts you to install it. You cannot reassign the button to another purpose.
No problem using the webcam with other applications. The flexible tail it uses for a stand does keep the camera upright after you get it adjusted. Was this review helpful?

I have been thrilled with the performance of this webcam. I can see my girlfriend very well in (except for the faint glow of her laptop screen) pitch darkness. Smoothness, even on my antiquated P4m 1.8Ghz 512mb laptop is pretty nice. On a nicer PC I have seen it indeed performs even better.
The Lifecam software is interesting; I deleted it b/c Movie Maker serves my needs fine, even though it doesn't have the "masks" or other fun things to play with.
I use the VX-5000 with Skype, and have worked with the setting in Skype to put out a smoother, more balanced, and colorful picture. Such things as turning backlight compensation off and exposure down help, to name a few.
Audio quality is excellent! Natural, uncompressed feeling. It feels like I bought a fair quality stand alone mic. It also blocks out almost ALL background noise.
Design is great! I love the little tail, very handy and sturdy. Good build quality. (I like Microsoft hardware MUCH better than their software :P)
This is my first webcam, but I thoroughly researched before buying. Cnet states it has performance on par with the $90 Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000; I was thrilled to get it for half retail of its retail, at which it is a very good value. Was this review helpful?
