Initial setup is great and easy, but response is poor. Most of time first click is not recorded , you have to click several times.

1 of 5 Worst Mouse from Targus 9/18/2008
Nagaraj Rao from VA
This is one of the worst purchases i have made on buy.com.
I would sincerely suggest buy.com to remove such products from their shopping list.
Within one month, the mouse was bought, it stopped working and i called the customer support for Targus and they said they are going to replace it as the model : AMW20USX is now replaced as it had some problems. I had got to send it all the way to california and they sent the same model back to me and it has stopped working again. Not decided on whether i should again speak to them , shell out extra money for shipping to get one more defective model. Please hold back from buying this product.

4.7 of 5 Good Mouse - Bad Batteries 6/22/2008
Arcanelion from Gonzales, LA
This little notebook mouse does an adequate job for which it was designed. It is easy to set up and use. There are no customizing features. Before I ordered mine I read some of the reviews which were mixed to say the least. Now I know why.
The mouse was sluggish in performance for the first few days that I used it...then it died altogether.
New fresh batteries...all better now and the performance zips right along.
I really hate to beat up on an otherwise good deal but maybe the Targus folks should consider a better battery supplier and save a little "face".

1 of 5 Dead after one use 6/19/2008
from Burbank,CA
Died in a day. Maybe it was a defective one.
You have to carry the mouse and USB seperately which also seems like a trouble.
Would not buy it again.

4.3 of 5 Good for its price 6/11/2008
msvkumar from SIOUX FALLS and SD
This is definitely a good mouse for its price. it performs good with no issues.
Pros
1. Ease of installation. Just plug the adapter and then click on the button below the mouse, it'll start working
2. It'll go in power saving mode if the mouse is idle for couple of minutes. It'll wakepup with a click.
3. It operates comfortably in 3 meters distance.(but it consumes battery)
Cons:
1. May need to replace batteries every 20 days to 1 month
2. It wont give full functionality as normal USB mouse. Particularly you feel bit inconvience while drag and drop functions
finally....
You are not doing any mistake by buying this mouse. This is good mouse for its price.

1.7 of 5 Bad mouse 6/11/2008
mv_vaidya from Irvine, CA
Just a few days after starting to use it it just went dead one day-tried reseating the AAA batteries but it would not come to life. If those batteries are drained in 8 days its no good.
Also hangs after 5-7 minutes of non-use and have to press the setup key and the USB receiver button many times to get it to work. Next time will be more sensible and not buy a cheap mouse like this one.

1 of 5 Not a good one 6/10/2008
Shan from Nashua NH
I bought this mouse 10 days back.
My first problem comes when I searched for online help for this product. To find out the driver for my Vista laptop, I searched the Targus website. I cannot even see this product listed in their site.
Then I realized that there is a driver already installed in my laptop for a different Targus mouse which caused the problem. I uninstalled the old SW and then when I plugged in the new one, the driver installed correctly.
Now the mouse works but partially. I cannot click and hold the mouse buttons. Yes we can do but it will not respond for your hold. Clicking and holding is equalent to a single click :(
When you try to scroll a page using scroll bar, this feature is a must.
The battery consumption is also more. A new pair of Duracell betteries doesn't even last for a week.

3.3 of 5 Inexpensive but ...... 6/10/2008
from San Francisco, CA
There are a few shortcomings:
- the range is quite poor. Can't go farther than 3 feet.
- it takes some practices to get used to double clicking with this mouse, because (1) difficult to keep the cursor steady after the first click, (2) difficult to double-click the button itself.

3 of 5 It was cheap 6/10/2008
from NH
PROS: It's compact. It works. It was cheap. Shipping was free.
CONS: The two buttons needed to sync it are a pain. My kid's Logitech never needs to do this. And every time my laptop goes into standby/power saver, or the mouse shuts itself off, I need to resync it before I can use it again (twice, actually). The little LED on the part that plugs into the USB port is positively blinding, and a big distraction while I work.
Overall, it is OK for the price. Just remember you get what you pay for.

3.3 of 5 Too small 6/8/2008
docweird from Thomasville, GA
The price is right but perfomance is lacking. The mouse is physically small and feels so when using it. Fine control of the cursor is lacking and this is frustrating. It takes much more effort to use this mouse than others, including wireless ones. The small size is a bonus for use with portable laptops.

4.7 of 5 Kinda small 6/6/2008
from Philadelphia, PA
The Targus Notebook Optical Mouse worked fine for about a week then stopped working. Apparently the batteries had died. Once they were replaced with rechargeable everything was working fine again. The mouse is really small and that might take some use getting to. The sensitivity and movement are really great -- quick and responsive. That too might take some use getting to. Good value for the buck.

3.7 of 5 Targus USB Wireless mouse 6/4/2008
from Chestnut Ridge, NY
The price was right as is the compact size. However the mouse shuts off intermittently. Need to re-activate both the mouse and the USB stick every so often. Spend a little more and get a mouse that stays on.

4.7 of 5 Almost perfect 6/2/2008
from Harrison, NJ
The manual is good, without it I cannot start the mouse. I loved it. The only thing I complained is the usb does not build in with the mouse like the one I own make by create which build the usb connector under the mouse. I only take it apart when I need it. Therefor I never loss each other. But for the price so cheat, I cannot expected it perfect.

5 of 5 Good Value 6/2/2008
jpham from el dorado hills, ca
Mouse works well for the price. It's not a laser mouse so won't be smooth on all surface. But works well as any optical mouse. Connects to the receiver quickly- no drivers needed to installed.
Never had to even push the button on the receiver to connect.

I don't think you can go wrong with Targus. I keep this little mouse for use when I travel. My only concern is that I wish it had an on/off button.

5 of 5 Goldilocks Sweeeeeeeeeeet! 5/30/2008
from Boulder, CO
This little mouse is like the baby bear's porridge, just right. I have an Acer notebook which has a touch pad. With USB ports on the right side it is good for right handed people, and the unit is plug and play. If your USB ports are not near your hand it would be awkward. With the scroller it is a great improvement over the touchpad, or my wired 2 button USB mouse. I may cover part of the blue light in the adapter, it is too bright.

4.3 of 5 Value buy 5/28/2008
Jim from O Fallon, Missouri
After a bit of an unexplained problem with "plugging it in, pushing setup, and it works", it has been performing just fine. I think the problem may have been a conflict with my old USB mouse that I didn't delete before installing this new wireless mouse. Like most WINDOWS related anomolies, a REBOOT fixed whatever was wrong.

5 of 5 It does the job! 5/28/2008
from Crossville, TN
Compact mouse for notebook computer does what it should, and for $10 it is a great value. No complaints -- well, one minor issue: the "click" on the mouse is very loud compared to a standard desktop mouse.

4 of 5 Disappointed. 5/22/2008
from Ashland, OH
Light on receiver so bright you must cover it to be able to work if USB port is on side of laptop. Left button sticks unless you use it without the cover in place, Extra step when you install to train it which has to be done everytime you change batteries. Make sure follow directions on inserting batteries. One of them goes positive to the spring.
HOWEVER, it does work. I think the Logitech wireless is a better deal.

This is a great mouse for a great price. It was very easy to connect...simply hit two buttons. No sporadic movements like alot of Wireless Mice tend to have. You can't beat the price for such a good quality wireless device.

Mouse was sensitive, had a good feel and my laptop found the unit immediately. There was a slight lag from my had to the mouse movement. Seemed to happen when the mouse sat for a while then was used. Overall, good wireless unit for the price.
