SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Titanium USB Flash Drive

I've had the 4GB version for many years of use. It still works well, its fast, reliable, and still looks new. The password protection feature is why I originally got it. Not only do I use it to transport and back up current project files I'm working on, but it makes a great key ring. So, I was expecting the 8GB to work as well. It's actually better.

SanDisk has always been reliable for me and i think that with this capacity (8GB) for the amount i paid for, it's well worth it. it's all i ever expected and more. Very fast data storing and shipment. I would recommend this item to anyone who wish to buy one in a heartbeat.

I purchased this in Sept '08. I have dropped it too many times and it still looks and works great. I've gone through at least six before this one. Plenty of capacity. Highly recomended.

The difference in durability between the Titanium and the standard plastic model is like night and day. The standard model seems like a child's play toy that would break with the slightest mis-step. The Titanium model is built like a brick. I watched a YouTube demo of a guy running over these 2 flash drives with his car! Check it out and see for yourself if you are thinking of buying this model. If you want the added durability of titanium for a portable flash drive, this is it.

I searched Google Shopping and this exact page came up with a different price. $23.85 versus $26.44. Buy.com was still the cheapest but 2 different prices????? Whasupwitdat? That said, everyone should own one of these.

Strong casing, durable, U3 encryption. That is what separates this USB drive from others. Necessary when one hangs on the key-chain and throws it around. However, it would be nicer if they can make it smaller.

This is my second Sandisk Cruzer and I got it for a very good price too. It is very easy to use. One can either choose to use the software that comes with it or not. I highly recommend this product.

This is the second Cruzer Titanium I own and other USB drives feel like TOYS compared to it!!!!!!! It is Fast & holds plenaty of data. NO cap to loose.

Drive itself is nice, compact and sturdy. It is not really heavy as some of those might expect because of its metal shell. However, I tried using this with my work computer. U3 couldn't launch because i do not have admin rights.

pretty awesome little device. tough and sleek. i deleted most of the software it came with, but see how the software could be useful if you want to use apps on diff computers. can't beat the price when it's on sale.

This is the third Cruzer Titanium drive I've bought through Buy.com. I have them in 2GB, 4GB and now the 8GB models. They work like champs, retractable—integrated cap, fast transfer rates, and nearly indestructible—I've inadvertently crushed a couple from other manufacturers. I'm a Mac head so I've no use for the software, can't speak to that, but because they'll work on either platform, they're great for use with 'public' computers which are usually PCs—being mindful of security issues, of course. Highly recommended.

Lighter then I would have thought, very durable. the retractable USB connection is convient. I removed the U3 software easily and am using it as a portable storage to carry work from home to Work and back, plenty of storage, good price.

The cruzer Titanium by sandisk works great..right out of the carton sync. up and ready to load Data and Media of all types.The U3 platform is a nice way load and search for files.. The password protection is a plus..The 8GB of storage gives one range of storage of all types, the strength and feel if titaniun is great , and Buy.com had great price, should have purchased 2..

does what it says. glows a satisfying orange, and when in use, fades on and off like its breathing. feels solid. just don't hit it with a hammer or drown it and you should be fine.

The Cruzer 8GB Titanium is working great. This is the first time I used U3 and I have no complaints about it. I like the fact that I can password protect what I put on it. One of the main reasons I got this was to run Firefox portable. The U3 downloads for Firefox only supported Firefox 2 but I looked up on the web and found out it is quite easy to use Firefox 3 on it by replacing the Firefox 2 files with those from a computer that has 3 on it. Earlier in the year I had purchased a Kingston 2 GB Data traveler and it was really slow to run Firefox so this is the main reason I bought this one. The Cruzer loads up fast and I like the large LED light on it. It wouldn't have mattered to me if I had the plastic case Cruzer instead of the metal Titanium model but since this was on sale for such a great price I didn't hesitate. I ordered this on a Thursday at noon and it was delivered the next morning. Now that is fast ! So Buy.com really did a good job on the processing.

The first time you plug it a window pops up asking if you want the U3 functionality or not. I chose NO, since I've never used it (never had to) and after that I never had to do anything to it. It works just like it should, if you find a good price for it, BUY IT.

This is the second one that I have ordered through Buy.com and both the product and the free delivery were top notch. The only negative comment is that the thumb drive didn't come with a neck cord. I ended up finding another one in the desk to use, but it should be noted in the product description.

These things are sturdy and you can tell that they're tough when you hold it in your hand. There's no cap that will go missing after a day and they look super cool. It's fast and can hold a lot of info especially if you're using it for school type projects.

This drive almost feels bulletproof. The retractable connector makes this fit nicely on a keychain. I will not have to buy another drive for long time.

I been using this for about 2 weeks and my opinion is that is a great buy, you can store a lot in it and and the same time you can keep everything password protected, if you forget you password you need to format ( erase ) the flash drive to get it back to work because nobody is looking what you have in that memory with out know the password not even you self.

The titanium cruzer is hard as a rock, and gives me pretty solid comfort that it won't break easily when I attach it to my keys. At 8gb it can store a single-layer DVD's worth of data, which is pretty much more than enough for almost any application that demands a flash drive. Uninstalling the U3 system software was really easy, and my cruzer even came with a built-in option to remove it after the first time I plugged it in. Having no cap to lose is also a huge plus. My cruzer was a straight chrome color without the gold tint as seen in the pictures, but I won't complain as I think it looks even better. Good, small, useful product.

This 8GB Titanium 2.0 USB drive is solidly built and definitely worth the great low price (under $18) offered by Buy.com. As others have stated, its retractable connector means that there is no little cap to misplace or lose (your mind over)! Read/Write speeds are quite fast. The only major issue I encountered was that the included U3 software could be a bit finicky (despite its attractive UI) and sometimes froze at startup or would not eject/shutdown properly. If you find this to be a problem then it's not a big deal to remove the U3 software from the drive. The only other caveat is that the drive can feel a bit stiff when inserting it into a USB port but the snug fit is actually a good thing.

This usb drive was an excellent value when I bought it, and it has good performance, and seems to be sturdy and well built. The only complaint I have about it is that it comes pre-infested with the U3 malware crap, and the only way to remove it is to use a binary-only, windows-only utility from U3. But overall, that's a minor annoyance, and doesn't subtract from this being an excellent thumb drive overall.

Great drive for storing music to play through my car radio. Very durable and nice looking. Fast transfer speeds for the price. Not as fast as my Sandisk Cruzer Contour I use to run PortableApps on but perfect for transferring files. Wish the activity LED was blue and not orange but its in my glove box most of the time so it doesn't bother me that much. I also have had to deal with Sandisk tech support in the past for other pen drives I've owned and they are very helpful and provide a good warranty.

Well, not quite as blazingly fast as some reviewers have indicated, but it's fine, and I especially like the metal casing that protects the medium and the little mechanism for engaging the usb connection.

Bought the titanium cruzer to replace another brand 8GB memory stick that snapped in half (was hanging from a neck lariat and I leaned against a counter) so the titanium casing appeals to me. The retractable USB dongle is perfect for keeping the contact points clean and safe from damage (e.g. from keys, coins, etc.) and just keeping the stick compact and ergonomically appealing. It was incredibly easy to install and it works well for data storage. I also use it to play MP3s from at work and to play movies for my kids on our USB stick compatible DVD player at home. I did not utilize the U3 compatibility software included with the memory stick, although having WinAmp running from the stick would have been pretty cool.

I got 2 of these drives at $18 a piece, what a bargain, they are fast, they are solid, no compatibility issues, just plain performance, I suggest you turn off the U3 software better yet completely get rid of it, it just slows things down. This is a tremendous value and an awesome product.

I've always used sandisk titanium cruzers because of their durability and capless design. I have a 512mb, a 4gb, and now this one. I still can't figure out why companies make these things with caps that get lost so easily. This titanium cruzer is rock solid, performs flawlessly, and is exactly what I expected. Other reviewers said it has a blue LED indicator light, but in fact mine is orange. Not sure what that's all about, as I thought the orange light was just for the plastic version of the cruzers. Anyways, great deal from buy.com and great product from Sandisk.

I've owned one other SanDisk USB, and purchased this one to use the larger capacity. The titanium casing protects it from daily abuse on my keychain, and it always works whenever I need to save/retrieve data via USB. The retracting USB is a huge selling point for me on the SanDisk USB drives, there's no cap to lose and no chance of breakage while carrying it around.

I have 4 other SanDisk USB drives; 4Gb, 2Gb, 1Gb, 512k which perform wonderfully But This One has a Problem. The one I received is supposed to be USB 2.0 but acts like a USB 1.1 meaning the data transfer creeps, is slow and draggy. Have done several tests with it where drag-n-drop of a couple hundred megs takes up to & over a minute but same files take only 4-5 seconds on my other drives of the same make. Programs on drive take too long to start up and shut down. Have always had great performance from Sandisk in past, will have to return this for exchange.

I accidentally ran my Titanium Cruzer over with my driver front tire while backing out of my driveway. Still works! Still slides out without problems. I knew titanium was tough and this little thing proved its worth. Works just about the same as any other USB 2.0 Flash storage device with U3. Drag and drop, U3 is easy to use but I don't need it.

Several years ago, I purchased a SanDisk Titanium 512Mb flash drive. Over the years I have acquired other flash drives, because of the need for increased capacity, but found varying reliability corresponding to brand. Throughout that time the Titanium 512 has worked flawlessly and is always in my briefcase, the reliable fallback. I knew that when a large capacity Titanium came down in price, I would purchase one. Though I have only had the product for a short time, its construction is of the same high quality, and perhaps better. Functionally, it connects and disconnects smoothly, and though I have not used the included software extensively, security is always useful, and I could see the advantage of transferring programs as well for specialized file types. Best of all, the drive, though small, has enough heft to it to be substantial, so that you notice its presence in your pocket (or perhaps more importantly -- you will notice its absence). Bottom line: great product!

I ordered this product back on Oct 6, 2008. I still have not received the SanDisk Cruzer® Titanium 8GB Flashdrive. I would not recommend doing business with Digital Media Source/Digital Media Outlet. This is the company that had the product and that was ordered through Buy.com.

I love this pen drive. The feel of it (love the metal casing), the capacity of the drive, the portability (put it on my keychain), ease of use and of course, the price.
