5 of 5 Great Label Printer Friday, October 30, 2009 A Customer from Miami, FL
I received this printer a few days ago and have found it to be excellent. Once the software is set up (see below), it works like a charm. Software for creating labels is fairly basic, but integrates well with MS Office and seems to be quite functional. Printer is fast, quiet and label quality is excellent (only wish they were in color!).
Software install was a bit of a pain -- the 'Standard Installation' option did not seem to work on my Windows Vista machine. However, after calling support -- which was very responsive and excellent, we ran the 'Custom Install' option - installing one component at a time. This worked flawlessly. I recommend skipping the standard install and doing the custom. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good for organizing things Thursday, August 20, 2009 Jigme from Charlottesville, VA
I have three label printers from Brother via Buy.com. As a hexta-lingual, I always wanted to have a label printer that can print out other languages than English, and this label printer works great. When I downloaded and installed the most recent version, even I was able to print out Tibetan that was unavailable in the last version of the application. Since the application is a litte out-dated, I recommend you to have the up-to-date version of it. Was this review helpful?

This is a great tool for the price. Set up was a breeze although it took a couple of tries to get the labels in correctly (the business end of the label should point down). Once loaded, the software was easy to use. I imported my logo and was making black and white labels in no time. They print quickly and offer a professional-looking alternative to hand-written shipping labels. You can also print on multiple label sizes by swapping out one roll of labels for another. 4 of 5 Great Value Label Maker Monday, April 06, 2009 A Customer from Longview, Texas
The QL-570 was installed on XP Pro and works
flawlessly. My only disappointment is the process
for address bar coding, it is too complicated to
use, unlike my old Dymo. We use label makers
for a variety of tasks; overall we are happy
with the QL-570 and price. And, you may have
no problem understanding the address bar coding,
it may just be me not understanding the software.

Great little label printer.... not that much more expensive than a handheld label printer, actually. Labels also not that expensive at a local office store. Was this review helpful?

The machine is excellent, but I did have to get on with Tech Support to load the correct drivers. Highly recommend the unit. Very good price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Little Labeler Sunday, April 05, 2009 Ron Jackson from Tampa, Florida
As with other Brother products I have used through the years (especially small laster printers) this individual label maker is a well engineered, reliable and cost efficient machine that I am delighted with. Lived with one for 6 months then bought a second one for my wife's computer after a big price drop made adding another one a no brainer. I have never had a problem with a Brother printer of any kind so that is now the brand I look to first. Was this review helpful?

We could never afford a label printer until this one came along at buy.com, on sale. We just couldn't pass it up.
Installation was pretty easy. Setting it up to print as we wanted and playing with the settings wasn't nearly as intuitive, and was kinda frustrating at times. It did take a while. But once it is set up, it's excellent.
We print single labels about 3x per day from Outlook or Firefox. From Outlook we just highlight the address and click a toolbar button, and the label automatically formats the address to fit next to our cute black & gray icon on our pre-chosen label size and prints behind the scenes, and then cuts and spits out a label. We LOVE that.
There is no automatic function from Firefox/Paypal/Google Checkout, so we have to open the included program, and copy and paste the address in. It's not nearly as nice, but still FAR better than writing out addresses on envelops ever was.
The latest Microsoft programs like to disable Macros for security reasons, and the only way to get this label printer to work that I could find was to Enable ALL macros all the time (or maybe editing normal.dot). I wasn't comfortable with that, so we can't use the label printer with Word or Excel without going into the settings and temporarily enabling macros. Which is fine for us.
Updates are not easy to find or download (you have to search on their site, and enter the serial number from the bottom of the printer every time). But they don't seem to do anything new anyways.
For the price we paid, this is a wonderful tool. The label spool has lasted for quite a while already, and the refill we bought wasn't too pricey. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Has so many features it is complicated Sunday, April 05, 2009 Sam Barrale from St. Peters
Overall good product. Has so many features it makes it dificult to use. I have a Dynmo 400 at work and it is much easier to use for regular day to day labeling but has a few less features. Labels are more expensive for the Brother. If I were to buy another one it would by the Dynmo. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Slick little label printer Sunday, April 05, 2009 Chuck from Stump Ridge, Wisconsin
This printer is exactly as advertised. I am using it on Imac and it is nice to have a label editor/printer one click away. The labels work well. They stick on letters or items that need labeled equally well.
I like this printer!

5 of 5 Great Product Saturday, April 04, 2009 A Customer from Lafayette, Co
The brother QL-570 is a great product. It was more than what I expected and the ease of setting it up was great. Plug in, run software and it was ready to go. This will save me lots a time when doing multi-lables. Thanks to Buy.com for the fast service and delivery. The price was great. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Really a Great Product! Saturday, April 04, 2009 John from Lake Marion, SC
This printer is very very good. It is fast enough. In general, just buy the wide labels in the big roll, you can use them for almost everything.
Takes a little while to master the label maker software. Once you do you can use it to print really long labels in landscape mode. Or you can print more standard address labels across the width of the label stock. The automated cutter clips them off either way.
Overall, a great product, wish I had bought two at the sale price. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Nice Little Label Maker Saturday, March 14, 2009 GreatSantaFeRealEstate from Santa Fe, New Mexico
The software installed easily and offers everything I need for my particuler business purposes. The printer's small footprint is due to the fact that there is no keyboard (like there is on my Brother P-touch label machine that I use at home), but since I prefer using my computer to enter text so there's no problem for me; I'd rather have the smaller size.
The printer itself appears solidly built and performs very well. Labels are printed very quickly. I haven't had a chance to look yet, but I hope and trust that clear labels are available. In short, a very good labelmaker and a great value. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Printer Friday, March 13, 2009 Steve from Sandy, UT
Installing and using the QL-570 are both surprisingly easy. Changing label rolls couldn't be easier either. Labels print quickly and clearly. The only drawback, and it isn't a big one, is that the software is a bit clumsy. It works well, and will accomplish whatever you want to do with it. It just takes a little getting used to. Overall, I liked it so much I bought one for home as well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product - fast & easy to use. Wednesday, March 11, 2009 A Customer from Hillsboro, OR
I got it on sale for much lower than the retail price. It prints quickly and clearly. There is no wasted tape and there are many fonts and sizes to choose from.
I had considered getting a Dynamo label printer or one of the cheaper ($10-$10) Brother printers. I'm so glad I got this one instead. I'm completely happy with it. (I'm a Mac user.) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 nice product Wednesday, March 11, 2009 bill from brighton, ma
does as hoped. makes great labels on different size rolls or footprint.
My only concern will be the cost of new labels as these 2 supplied rolls run out!

4 of 5 Great for almost everything Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Gabe from Norristown, PA
I just bought this printer and love using it with various program except the software it came with. The software seems a bit clumsy and needs more refinement. However the quality you get from the thermal prints are excelent. Out of box this unit is very fast to set up and print. Just don't count on the software to solve any work flow issues.
Cost of labels from Brother is VERY expensive, shop on any site other than thiers to get materials. eBay was a great source, the only problem is you need to research the part numbers to get exactly what you need and have it be compatible.
The CD lables are a joke, don't waste the money!
Buy this to replace your personal stand alone labeler for speed and performance. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great product Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Tim from Pittsburgh, PA
This label printer is terrific. It's so easy to produce one label or a whole mailing list. The plug-in to office is nice. It allows you to highlight an address in your document and click the plug-in button to jump to the label software and quickly print a label. You can also turn an Excel spreadsheet of addresses into labels easily. The included software for storing addresses and printing labels leaves a bit to be desired. It's functional, but not very user-friendly (so use Excel). I got it at a great price from buy.com, which made it even sweeter because I couldn't justify the higher price for the amount of usage that I have for it.
It should prove more cost-effective in the long run when compared to using whole sheets of Avery labels and it's a lot less frustrating when printing singles. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Exactly what I wanted! Tuesday, March 10, 2009 Heavy D from Earlysville, VA
I have been wanting one of these for quite some time. My inkjet printer is not very kind to envelopes, so I had been looking at label printers. Well, buy.com sent me an email that had a great offer on this unit...I bought it. I'm so glad I did! It works great. The software is useable and fast. It will print anything on a label. Such a versatile unit. Worth every penny and then some. I would highly recommend this printer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great product, great price Sunday, March 08, 2009 A Customer from Ellettsville, Indiana
I've been using this for a little over a week and I'm very pleased. It is very easy to use and even prints graphics well. It come with 2 different label cartridges which are easily switched between. I was hesitant to buy it thinking "Do I really need this?" No, I don't really need this, but I'm glad I bought it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great hardware, minor software nits Tuesday, March 03, 2009 Dave from Austin, TX
I am a mac user, so this is based on the Mac experience.
Installation was easy and quick. I had a bit of trouble doing labels the first time because in printer setup, the default was 50% scaling, so the labels did not look like they did in the ptouch editor. I don't think that had anything to do with the product, just a quirk in my machine environment.
It was pretty easy to link into the mac address book to do labels, although I had to define label fields to make it work right. That is easy to do, but I kept thinking that the software would have such a label template out of the box, since they make tapping into the address book a one or two click affair.
I haven't used any of the advanced editing and graphics stuff, so I can't comment about that. They do make it very easy to select something on the screen, then transfer it to the label. It could be text or graphics, it just sort of transfers the bit pattern to the label.
One thing it does not appear to be able to do, is to automatically create a label, for instance, under control of a perl script. You have to use the ptouch editor. Using the editor can be as simple as dragging a text file to the label template, then hitting print. What I would like to be able to do is invoke the ptouch editor from the command line with a file arg. and have it print the contents. It might be possible to use lp and lpr to print.
The hardware is great, it prints quickly and silently, and the software can sense what size labels are loaded in the printer.
I recommend you download the latest versions of the ptouch editor and driver and just forget about the old versions on the CD. This is because upgrading requires you to uninstall the software first. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great printer, but ... Saturday, February 28, 2009 Paul from Bend, Oregon
This is a fantastic printer! I used an old model Seiko label printer for many years and was very satisfied with it. Then, I upgraded to Vista and it was impossible to make the Seiko printer work correctly. I bought the Brother and it works flawlessly with Vista and, overall, it is excellent and actually much better in quality and use than the Seiko.
HOWEVER, the Seiko software is much easier to use. The P-touch Editor software and the P-touch Address Book suck compared to Seiko's software. That is the only flaw. Otherwise, the Brother is a beautiful machine! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love, Love, Love this label printer! Thursday, February 19, 2009 Sandi from Queen Creek, AZ

5 of 5 Great value Sunday, February 08, 2009 Aubrey from New Smyrna Beach
First one I received died as soon as I turned it on. Buy.com replaced it with no hassles. Setup the replacement yesterday and it works great. I like the fact that you can use barcodes for the zip codes.
I recommend this for anyone who prints a lot of labels as I do. It saves changing to labels sheets in my printer all the time.
Great price and good service from Buy.com Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great little printer Monday, January 12, 2009 Len Rapoport from Hazlet, NJ
I didn't think I needed one but at the great price I bought this one for I had to get it just to see. Set up was very simple and straight forward and I had it up and running in a few minutes. The supplied label software made it easy for me to immediately create some address labels and save them.
Printing is very fast indeed, only a few seconds at most and very convenient when you don't want to print sheets of labels. The only thing I am concerned about is the cost of the blank replacement labels which could be costly so I will have to shop around the internet to see if I can get some deals on them.
As is the case with color printers, the printers are inexpensive today but the darn ink cost more then the printers. At least you have the option on those to purchase the very inexpensive Chinese exports that work fine, now if I can only find imported labels it would make this printer even better :-) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Basic Label Printer Sunday, January 11, 2009 A Customer from Austin, TX
The QL-570 replaces a QL-500 bought nearly two years ago. It uses the same labels conveniently spooled for quick change. The loading system has improved somewhat and the automatic label cut-off is convenient. The biggest improvement is in the software. It is much more user-friendly and offers both basic and professional modes. The basic mode is very easy to use and is adequate for most users. The printer is quiet and relatively quick. Labels are very easy to read and stick securely to most surfaces. The only downside is the cost of the labels themselves, which seems a bit high. With that in mind, I highly recommend this label printer for light-to-medium duty use. Was this review helpful?

I've always wanted one of these, and couldn't pass up the sale price. It's very easy to setup and use. Made Christmas mailing labels a snap. It's a great little printer. I don't use bar codes, so can't speak to that, but for regular labels for anything, this makes life much easier. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Value Performance! Friday, December 12, 2008 Steve from Austin, TX
Label Printers are figuring out what big printer makers already knew - the money is in the supplies! Got a great price on this printer which works extremely well and couldn't be happier - except I got a little crazy ordering several refills! Fortunately the total price for the printer and supplies was less than the standard price for the printer alone, so it ended up being a great value. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Great product - minor deficiencies Wednesday, December 10, 2008 A happy customer from Clearwater, FL
(Windows Vista 32, Intel dual core) Installation and setup was a snap. Print jobs are automatically routed to label printer -- no need to remember to select printer. Printer operation is smooth and fast. Printer seems solidly and ruggedly built. Label roll insertion and positioning is simple drop-in. Label maker software straightforward, intuitive. Having labels always ready to print is refreshingly convenient. Print quality crisp and professional. Label surface texture looks great. Adhesive seems fine.
Cons: Thermal labels print in black only, no color. Supplied graphics (clip-art and frames) are of limited usefulness - no half-tones.
Summary: Lots of uses for the labels. I'm happy I bought the printer. (Purchasing from buy.com always a pleasure.) Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Very capable label maker Tuesday, December 09, 2008 DPL from Santa Monica, CA
This is a very fine label maker. Brother offers many choices of styles, fonts, and other items to enhance the appearance of labels. My only complaint is with the software, which I find to be non-intuitive on some matters and downright frustrating on others. Perhaps I'm impatient, but I cannot figure out certain functions.
The hardware is terrific. With an improved interface, this will be a first-rate choice. As it stands now, it's still a good one. Was this review helpful?
