Product Guides

The CADA-SA2 Series offers an unbeatable combination of RAID data protection, 3.0Gbit/sec eSATA speed and a vast storage capacity of 2TB (1TB mirrored). This dual-bay disk array features swappable hard disks and a built-in RAID controller. The unit arrives preconfigured in RAID 1 to protect your important data—if one drive fails, replace it with an identical drive and the data will automatically rebuild.

Leave it in RAID 1 mode for automatic background rebuilding and optimum security for your files, or configure to RAID 0 for increased data reading and writing speeds. Factory default is RAID 1 GUI mode, but also supports RAID levels 0, 1 and 0+1(safe 33/safe 50). Its SATA interface provides a faster boot process and quicker loading of programs and data. Ideal for saving hefty files, video, music, protecting databases or working directly on the drive, it delivers high-capacity performance and data security.

The unit is factory pre-configured in RAID 1 and ready to use out of the box. Install the easy-to-use RAID configuration software and the included SATA to eSATA bracket kit to take full advantage of the incredible set of features.

***For our Mac users we offer our CADT series that comes pre-formatted to Mac OS extended journaled.

5 of 5 the Cavalry has work perfectly for over a month Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Mike from Vegas

A very Good Priced twin 1tb drive device that works very well. The drives passed all torture tests on install and the USB interface worked well in 1.1 and 2.0 connections under XP Pro Sp3 environments and Vista Business SP1 systems. It could be faster, but as a remote video/workflow storage unit it provided a decent bang for the buck. I am not sorry to have it join the other multi TB externals I reply upon (I use higher end TB backup network solutions for project backups in RAID 1)

4 of 5 Good value, but loud fan and so so instructions Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Win from Bergen Cty, NJ
Picked this up at a very good price for 2tbs. It hasn't gotten hot when left on, but the fan in my opinion is very loud. Also, I wanted to reformat the drive to use the full 2tbs (no redundancy) and manual didn't help. Called Cavalry help and first person gave me only half the instructions and had to call back and the next person realized what was missing that needed to be done. Use the unit to back up and it seems to be working ok in this capacity. Don't care much for the Steelvine Manager software that came with the unit.

3 of 5 depends on your needs Friday, September 26, 2008
db from CA
the drive arrives as RAID 1 and it does work on both USB2 & eSata out of the box ... HOWEVER to get raid 0 or any of the other offerings you need to use the software GUI which doesn't work here ( Vista) so it is stuck in Raid 1 ..also if a drive goes down you will need the software GUI to rebuild it .. note the info states "This dual-bay drive features swappable hard disks " yet there is a sticker on the drive that states if seal is broken the warranty is void, so not sure how you swap drives without breaking the sticker ? on the software GUI i'm not sure if it is vista ? the software instruction mention something about your eSata card must support "Port Multiplier " ... i have a Dell XPS 420 that has a external eSata plus the calvary kit includes a SATA to eSATA adapter cable w/bracket so you can plug into your eSata connection on the mother board ( i assume both those connections do not support Port Multiplier ... so it appears without Port Multiplier support the drive will stay in Raid 1 ... so without the GUI working ( change to raid 0 or other settings plus can't rebuild a drive) & not being able to swap drives without voiding warranty doesn't make it worth the price .. if the GUI worked then ratings would be 4-5's ... anybody else with Vista getting the software GUI to work ???

5 of 5 Two thumbs up! Thursday, March 06, 2008
Melissa from Orange, VA
We bought this specifically for job where we needed mega storage, and total portability. I am on MAC OS X, it came with the dual drive, we formatted it for MAC and used it as one large drive. I just used the USB connection, which was quicker then expected. I was scanning very large images and moving them from a laptop to this 2T drive. Smooth sailing, it was perfect! Price can't be beat (we looked). The only thing I would have liked better was if the drive had been readable on PC as well as MAC, but that may have been how we formatted it. All in all, I want one for home now, it's plug and play, simple, and it's small size make it easy to grab and go. I would highly recommend this Cavalry 2T drive!

5 of 5 Great value for the buck. Monday, January 14, 2008
Uncle Chuck from Queens, NY
My picture, music and video getting out of hand... 2TB allow me to consolidate everything onto one drive with plenty of room to grow. Can't beat the price... It was easy to setup and use in Windows XP - in both eSATA as well as USB configuration, I prefer eSATA for the speed. It does run a little warm, hope it will not affect the MTF.

5 of 5 Good Value Monday, January 07, 2008
cdiemer from Richmond Virginia
I am please so far with the purchase of my 2 TB external drive. I use the USB connection because my motherboard does not have the eSata connection. It would have been great to have this high speed capability but maybe on my next computer. This is my second Cavalry drive and they seem to be very stable unlike my Western Digital or Maxtor drives. I have it in Safe configuration which is raid 1. Setup was pretty easy but one of the drives was not formatted like it was supposed to be. No problem. I formatted it in NTFS and now I am off and running.
