Does everything I wanted and more. The price when I bought was so low I bought it even though I didn't really need it and gave it to my wife to label all the kitchen canisters and now I can't get it back from her.

I haven't used the product since I bought it for a Christmas present. I actually bought 2 over a month ago and have not yet received the second one. Not very happy about that!!!!!!!!!

I only have two gripes about this labeller: (1) Wastes loads of tape for each print, (2) Does not use QWERTY keypad. As everyone else has mentioned, this thing is a tape hog. No matter what setting I try, I will get at least 1 inch of tape wasted on each print, and maximum of 2 inches depending on the margin settings. That would mean if I just need to print one word, I'm going to waste 1-2 inches of tape each time. I'm sure that's why I got such a good deal on this labeller. I had another Brother P-touch labeller that used the smaller tape cartridges and it only left about 1/2 inch of tape on each side which was reasonable for me. As for the QWERTY keypad, maybe those who don't know how to type, this keypad is better. I didn't think it would be a problem, but now that I try it, I know I can make labels much faster if it had the QWERTY keypad. This of course is just a preference thing, so the labeller didn't lose any points for that. It's just the tape hogging that made me give it such low performance ratings. Other than that, the labeller works great and makes beautiful labels. One other minor thing to mention is it uses 6 AAA batteries. I bought a set of rechargeable nimh pre-charged Duracells (get pre-charged, not the typical nimhs that lose charge after a few weeks) so I'm not worried about it, but others do complain about this.

I started as soon as it came out of the box and I am not gadget savy. The replacement tape is pricey but I buy replacements on eBay for a good price. The batteries and tape last for a long time. I now have many items tagged. Now to figure out the 2 bags of ac/dc cords I have and what they belong to so I can tag them or get rid of them. Great for tagging your new trees/bushes too. This was a good steal of a price.

The labeler comes in handy for so many uses. I've now got all of my computer cords labeled so I can find what I'm looking for when I climb under my desk to connect or disconnect a cord. I've also made labels for all my storage containers so I can tell what is in them at a glance. Labels make everything look neat and tidy, and I'm all for that!

If you are even a little tech intuitive, you can operate this machine quickly and easily. As mentioned before, the margins are too wide (wasting tape). You can get around that by printing multiple labels and cutting them w/scissors. The biggest issue (which is why the margins matter) is that the replacement tape cartridges are way spendy. Kind of like buying an inexpensive copier - they get their money when you have to buy the expensive replacement ink! Still, a great little machine that puts out high quality labels.

This is the fourth Brother labeler that we have bought. The first was over twenty years ago and it still works well. They were about $150 back then and today's price is a pure bargain. In addition the original adapter will work for the newer models and anyone having an older model should at least reserve their adapter if considering buying a newer one. You should check around for the tapes as the prices vary wildly and sometimes E-Bay is a good buy and many times not since many stores now sell at retail without any discount on E-Bay and charge inflated shipping. The finished product is well worth having one of these.

Got this labeler and am extremely pleased with the quality of the product and the ease of use! Needed to make several labels for a project and within minutes of the time I started all the labels were done and done exactly as I wanted them. Searching on eBay I have found great deals for refill tapes at very good prices. Would reccommend this product to anyone who needs a handy and portable as well as economic labeler.

I own another Brother, so am familiar somewhat with product. I really like the low entry cost of this product. Only two comments: 1. The label maker is set to maximum edges (to use more of the labels before realizing this). You must manually change to narrower edges to save label material, and 2. This product comes with only a starter label cartridge. The full size label cartridges are very expensive.

Well, since I've recieved the Brother 1010 labeler, life has been a breeze. No more putting my underwear on backwards or using a fork when a spoon is necessary. Also, my wife is very flat-chested, but since recieving the labeler I no longer find myself aimlessly groping her shoulder blades. Thanks buy.com for helping make each day better with quality products like the Brother 1010 labeler.

After having used 2 or 3 other brand of labelers at work, this is by far the easiest to load with label medium, and a lot easier to type label. A lot of models need extensive instructions on how to add two lines and how to put in a space. Not this baby, she is ready to go, and instructions are precise and to the point.

my 10 year old daughter uses this to label all her stuff my wife loves it also and someday maybe I will get a chance to use it. You should sell replacement tape as well cause it goes fast.

This is a handy device to use for items that will be affected by weather. I use it to label plants and the labels last all season and will be OK for next season. Batteries last a long time. Tapes are expensive but easy to use. Highly recommend the item, especially at the low price of 6.49. It seems to stand up well to abuse too.

For less than $10, how can you beat it. Although not the smallest labeler, it is easy to use and has enough functionality to label pretty much anything.

Excellent buy for the price. Got a couple. Available fonts are acceptable but could be better. Tape size larger than 1/2 inch would be a big plus. All things considered, however, I consider this product a steal!!

I bought it to use around the house for organizing clutter. It was very, very easy to setup and start using. It's somewhat limited in font size, but it prints nice and crisp. I've had it for a few days and so far it's working great. I got it on a fantastic sale. Not sure if I would buy it again at full price.

This is so easy to use! Instructions for use were simple to understand and in no time I was printing labels! I labeled my pantry of dry goods/containers in no time, and now easy for me and husband to find! Wonderful buy on Buy.com. Recommend to enter as many labels as possible before printing to save on label usage. Item performed as expected and would buy again~

It is a great label printer. It is easy to use, and prints out nicely, with a couple choices of font size. For personal use, under $10, it is absolutely a great deal.

Like other reviewers, I don't care for the waste of label material (always too wide - seems like they would have better setting options available) and using 6 aaa batteries is strange and wasteful, though I will seek an alternative, like rechargeables. Results look nice and the unit price was outstanding. Buy.com purchase experience was good as usual.

I used a labeller last year and i got at for 21.99 and it was not that great for that price..but Brother P-touch is really an awesome product that i have recommended to 5 others so far before they close down the deal..

Can't beat the price. Wish it didn't use so much tape, even when you adjust the margins. But it is very easy to use, een for the kids. Wish I knew when I ordered it that it only came with a sample size pack of label stock, I would have ordered additional.

This label printer was purchased knowing it will not get a lot of use. I was amazed at how easy it is to use, it operates quietly, and the labels seems to stick nicely. I have used more expensive label printers at my place of employment and this is easier and just as fast. Professional looking labels are a snap to produce. Replacement label rolls seem a little expensive and you may want to investigate before purchasing the printer. Then again, so is printer ink. It will probably get more use than anticipated. Another great deal from Buy.com.

The unit itself prints fine, but considering how big and heavy the unit is, it's too bad they didn't use a standard qwerty keyboard layout. I'm a fast typist but not on this unit, the keys are all out of order. Pro's are solid construction, plenty of fonts, and can use AC power or batteries. Cons are: unit is larger and heavier than I expected. Takes 6 batteries, and a non-standard keyboard layout. Value = 4/5 since it was on sale with free shipping.

I HAVE ORDERED AND OWNED SEVERAL OF THE LABEL PRINTER BY BROTHER, AND BOY DOES THIS ONE OUTDO ALL THE OTHER ONES. THIS IS THE ONLY LABELER YOU NEED. I USE IT FOR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL ITEMS. THE ONLY FALLBACK IS THE AMOUNT OF BATTERIES IT TAKES AND YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THEM OFTEN. I OPT AND BOUGHT AN ADAPTER AND LOVE IT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE. MY CHILDREN LOVE TO USE IT. I DON'T KNOW WHO LIKES IT MORE MOM OR KIDS. I LIKE THAT IT HAS SEVERAL TYPES OF LETTERS TO USE AND YOU CAN CHOOSE THE FONT SIZE YOU WANT. I LIKE THE BIGGEST WRITING IT HAS SO YOU CAN SEE IT WITHOUT STRAINING YOUR EYES.

What a fantastic deal! I think I paid under $15 with no shipping for this printer. The pros: the display and keys are large and easy to see, you can plug in an AC adapter for power, LOTS of configuration options, many label colors & sizes are available to purchase. A few quirks: it is not a qwerty layout for the keys - they're alphabetical in order, the LCD view angle is a little poor, it's just a little big, and it uses 6 AAA batteries. The biggest gripe is the amount of label that is wasted for each label. Even with the margins set to their tightest (narrow) setting, you waste over ONE INCH for each label you print, and need to trim this off with scissors (what a pain) unless you leave margins as 'normal' - but then the label is ridiculously wide. You can tell they did this intentionally so you'd have to buy more label stock, providing them with a renewable income. Great printer, otherwise, if you're okay with trimming extra white space!

Very easy for children to use (A-Z keyboard). Many different sizes of type and features for full functionality. "Power" button is where the print key should be. Wish Brother would somehow not use as much "label" when printing/cutting a label, but then again, they would not sell as many replacement cartridges, would they?

The PT 1010 is a great little machine, especially for the price. (on sale for $10.00!) It's worth the normal price of $40.00. There are only two drawbacks. One is the "Preview" mode. It's not a true preview, only good to check spelling. Fonts & layouts are not shown. Two is a non-QWERTY keyboard. Still only minor drawbacks for the price. I would definitely recommend for the occasional labeler.

This was such as good buy that I bought three of them! Since I don't read instructions (;+]), it took about ten seconds to figure out how to use it. Great looking labels. Initial tape doesn't last long (kinda like the cartridges in new printers).

You can't go wrong with the value of this label printer. I bought it to use the Laminated Water resistant labels. I actually like the PT-80 keypad much better because it is QWERTY and the PT-1010 is alphabetically in rows. It does have memory for frequently used labels.

This labeler works well and is easy to use. There are a lot of different tapes available. The 9/64" is perfect for labeling cd disk cases.
