1 of 5 BEWARE!!!! Monday, February 25, 2008
A Customer from Wilmington, DE

The device has many glitches: *Incorrect Maps *Longtime to access the satellite (sometimes 3-5mins) *The TomTom Go 510 froze several times *I was supposed to meet someone at a restaurant the TomTom Go 510 had listed in the device. --It took me to a church a half mile away! While the customer service reps were nice, they were unable to solve the problems. The new "solutions" included downloads that TomTom was going to charge for! It is after the 14 days allotted for returns so I am going to have to take the loss and buy something else! I drive clients around and can't afford the embarrassment and time lost that this device has caused me.

3 of 5 Keeps rebooting Friday, December 28, 2007
A Customer from pgh, pa
I have been having trouble with this unit since the day i bought it. It will working 1 or 2 times and then keeps rebooting itself every 30 seconds. I will redownload the firmware and it will work 1 or 2 times and the same thing happens. tech support always has busy signal. I don't know what to do at this point. When it works, it is a very insightful and accurate unit. I wish it would work more steadily.

5 of 5 To Boldly Go Where I've Never Been Before Wednesday, December 12, 2007
quint from Perry, FL
Easy to use and understand! I bought this as a refurb from Buy.com and it worked flawlessly for two and a half months then started having problems - I plan to have it replaced or serviced ASAP because I just love having it and feel safer with it at my side. Went to Miami and put it in the rental car - then proceeded to wander all over Miami and when it was time to get to the airport, just told it and it guided me straight there with no problems. Amazing! One thing is that it sometimes tells you weird things to do but usually it's because you told it "fastest route" or "shortest route" - example is it had me getting off and on and off and on the interstate through Miami because maybe the access road seemed shorter overall to it's brain? I looked ahead on the large easy to read map though and saw what it was doing and just ignored that part of the directions and that was the only glitch. I would recommend this, especially if you get it at a good price.

5 of 5 Great Unit Wednesday, December 05, 2007
A Customer from Frisco, TX
I previously purchased a Sanyo unit and the TomTom is by far better. TomTom has excellent support, the continually improve the device firmware and the desktop application that goes with your TomTom. This is a great unit for the money. I upgraded the memory to 4 GB and found some online "tweaks" to enable pictures and MP3 playback as well as TTS.

4 of 5 very good gps Friday, November 30, 2007
petelue from saratoga, ca
terrific buy! very easy to use...love the choice of voices...bought refurbished unit at vg price 2 months ago....has been fine...only complaint is that the distance calculated (eg to make the next turn) seems to be overstated ; also unit resets at particular locations predictably...may have to do with switching signals between satellites...used the unit all over several cities on west and east coast....maps very reliable...

5 of 5 Great Value Thursday, November 29, 2007
A Customer from Denver, Co
I am very pleased with this purchase. The unit is very user friendly. I have had a couple of minor problems, but they were resolved quickly and efficiently by the support staff at TomTom. One of the problems was my fault, but I was helped in a very courteous manner. The second problem was an issue with trying to calculate a route to Dover, Delaware from Washington, DC. It kept getting errors when trying to calculate the route. Tech support had me reformat and reload the the card with uncorrupted files. Everything is great, even though it is a lengthy download. I would recommend this product to anyone.

4 of 5 Nice but I probably wouldn't buy refurbished again Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Chicago, IL
This is a solid product, however, I bought a refurbished unit which required a couple calls to Tom Tom support to get working properly. Since I have re-loaded the entire device for a second time it was worked really well. Maps aren't perfect, in a few cases streets were missing but I think that's a function of Tom Tom and their map provider, not the specific device. It's probably worth spending extra on a new device for piece-of-mind even though the appearance of the device was like new.

5 of 5 First Time Buyer Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Hassdogg1 from Virginia Beach, Virginia
This was my first time buying from Buy.com, and I was impressed. I received the TomTom ONE 3 days before the day promised. I must admit, I can't tell you anything about how the machine performed, because it was a gift, but I haven't heard anything from the person I gave it to. I will buy from them again....

4 of 5 Good value Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Enumclaw, WA
This was my first GPS device. I bought this (refurbished) unit because of the discounted price. I've had no problems at all. Very intuitive to use and understand. Worked fine out of the box. The only negative I have about buying this model is: I would have preferred a more portable device and more battery life (this one has about 2 hours) Cheers,

3 of 5 Navigates well, but difficult to use Wednesday, November 28, 2007
M. Evan Parker from Pasadena, CA
This unit navigates just fine, but the number of steps required to enter the destination are excessive, and canceling a destination mid-route is next to impossible. Also, forget about syncing this unit with your bluetooth phone. I purchased two units and tried this with a variety of phones. None were successful.

5 of 5 TomTom510 Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from albany, ny
Surprisingly sophisticated product that performs great even in demanding multi-lane intersections. Directions are clear and concise. Seems to get satellite signal locked in quickly. I have heard that is a problem with some other brands. The unit easily recalculates a new route if you miss a turn. I haven't used any of the subsciption features so can't comment on them. The only detracting feature is the bulk of the unit as it contains batteries(a plus if you want to use it out of the car)and the fussy connector that mounts it to the windshield. I'd recommend it to anyone.

4 of 5 It Works Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from Monticello, FL
As far as the function, refurbished, no problems. Will it get you home if you're lost, yes. The only flaws are the maps themselves. They don't differentiate between paved and unpaved, I live in an area with dirt roads so it's a factor. The maps provided can be inaccurate, it misses the street I live on by about 2/10ths of a mile and the potential of long delays before these errors are corrected. That said it will get you from A to B without a map.

4 of 5 Pretty Good Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Customer from New York, NY
Got this one over the TomTom One because of the faster processor this one has, provided the same price. Its very useful. Left it in the car and pulled it out whenever in doubt of direction, beats the paper maps, especially at night. Other than the size, problem my unit has is it froze or hanged a bit while zooming from the map.

5 of 5 Excellent Product Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Cheryl from San Antonio, Texas
I purchased a "refurbished" TomTom with a smidge of anxiety, because I wondered about the quality. I must tell that I have been nothing but pleased with the product. It arrived in excellent condition and has worked beautifully. I recommend the TomTom to anyone who would like a little extra navagation help in town or to new places.

5 of 5 Smply Amazing Wednesday, November 28, 2007
G. Keller from Saratoga Springs, NY
The TomTom Go 150 was everything I hoped it would be. My wife and I took a trip to see our daughter in Raleigh NC. Every day our daughter would leave for work and we were in a city we knew nothing about. I had programed the address of our daughter into the GPS with amazing ease. We would hit the road and explore Raleigh. At the end of the day I would ask to lead us back to our daughters home and without a hitch we would be back home. If I were to pick a con for this GPS it would be that if you figure out where you are and don't need it any more it is hard to tell it I've got it from hrer.

5 of 5 Great Buy @ Buy.Com Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Sarj from Vaughan, Ontario - Canada
This unit came in pretty quickly and worked well. However, it locked up completely once to the point where I had to completely wipe the unit with the help of TomTom and since then it is working well again. Definetely a good bargain at a decent price.

5 of 5 very easy to use Tuesday, November 27, 2007
A Customer from pensacola fl
Very easy to use right out of the box, I had used a garmin before and the menus were a bit confusing, the Tom Tom is very simple and easy to use without even opening the manual. The battery is nice too, because if you stop somewhere you can take it inside and use it without plugging it in. Great value too.

4 of 5 Great GPS (once you get it working) Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Gordon from Westwood, NJ
This is a great GPS. I have a built-in model (Alpine) in my Honda. I bought the Tom Tom Go 510 (refurbished)as a gift. Out of the box it did not work. Tom Tom support (upstate NY) is without equal. They got the system going in one call by updating the software and maps. My girlfriend loves her personal travel assistant (Australian charachter "Ken"). Overall I am impressed by Tom Tom.

5 of 5 Excellent Tuesday, November 27, 2007
A Customer from FL
Very happy with the purchase. I must agree with previous reviewer that I was having problems with the unit freezing while looking and dragging the map. After calling up TOMTOM and having them send me a new map update, reformatting the SD card as instruted all works GREAT now. Well worth the price and has paid for itself many time over now in my travels.. Thanks.

4 of 5 Great Value! Tuesday, November 27, 2007
dhill191 from Zionville, NC
I bought this mostly based on the good price. I was suprised to see how well it performed against my Lowrance Iway and Magellans. I loved the functionality of the bluetooth, and the ease withwhich one can update maps and data. I found the maps disappointingly outdated at first take. I thought it unfair that I would be required to pay extra to get the most updated maps. There were several roads not shown and my street was off by some 800 feet. Works very well when driving, but I find sometimes that I am not really sure where it wants me to go. I'd say an inherent problem in similar level systems though. Well worth the money when compared to some of those more upscale units which approach a grand in cost.

5 of 5 You need to contact TomTom support after your purc Thursday, October 04, 2007
jjw from CT
This is a a great product and the refurb is definitely top quality. There is one major issue you should contact TomTom support on 866-486-6866, options 1,1,3. The problem is with the USA/Canada map version loaded onto the unit during the refurb process. This issue is discussed on many of the forums and is specific to the refurbished GO 510 sold through buy.com or woot.com. The issue is that the TomTom will completely freeze and turn itself off and then back on again. The issue occurs in two situations. Either a) navigate to a map location experiencing the problem. b) while in a problem map location. TomTom support will tell you to reformat the 1GB SD card that ships with the unit (do this in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on the drive letter for your TomTom). After reformatting is complete, use the "TomTom HOME" software to reinstall a) "TomTom Application", b) one or more voices and c) Satellite Imagery (USA or USA Basic). Once complete TomTom support will add the fixed USA/Canada map to your account to download. It's a 900 MB download that will run for about an hour. Once downloaded it will take about another 30+ minutes to copy to the TomTom. I hope that this helps. Don't be disappointed when you get your TomTom if it freezes. It's a great deal as long as you talk to support and fix the unit and avoid hours of frustration.

5 of 5 Watch Movies on Your TomTom GO 510 Tuesday, October 02, 2007
jjw from CT
mobilnova have a thirty dollar add-on so you can convert and watch full length DVD movies on your TomTom. Great for if you travel. I tested this out and it worked great. There is a competing product by makayama but they require you do downgrade the TomTom software from 6.5.x to 6.1.x. You will need another SD card though as the 1 GB card that this ships with doesn't have enough space on it for "movies". You can buy 2,4 and 8 GB SD cards from buy.com. Enjoy.

4 of 5 Great hardware needs better maps & software Wednesday, September 26, 2007
Tee from Auburn, Alambama
I've had the TT510 just over two weeks. Since it is a refurb, it was the most affordable widescreen unit I could find. To boot, it is an upscale unit. It's very easy to use and will lead you to near your intended destination about as well as any unit...if the destination is on its internal maps. On my first navigation trip to a town about 30 miles away, it locked up, then automatically partially rebooted. I had to reset it with a paper clip, then wait about 5 min to get it going again. Later I followed the same route twice and it locked up at the same location each time. Reviewers on other sites also have experienced lockup problems. After considering returning the 510, and failing to find anything better at even twice the refurb price, I decided to live with the well known problem, particularly since it seems to be software related. I later discovered that the unit locks up while browsing and zooming the map over the location where it previously locked, even if the unit is physically 30 miles away. The trouble spot is near the Ga/Al state line. It may be possible that the digital map data is poorly stitched or corrupted at the state line such that the TT510 is unable to redraw the map at close zoom levels when areas in both states are to be shown. There's a lot of concern on the net about the maps used by TomTom as being outdated. I trust that the maps and the software will be updated and improved soon. If you must have an affordable unit now, can live with an occassional lockup, and have faith that maps and software will improve, I recommend the TT510. If not, then look elsewhere. If you get one, please before the return period expires, browse the map over areas where you plan to use it, and zoom out and in to see whether it locks up.
