5 of 5 Excellent little companion Wednesday, November 12, 2008
Noel Buckley from Clinton Twp MI

I keep mine in my purse all the time for those unexpected boring moments - like in the doctor's office. SOund is excellent, video is good. Easy to use. Love it. Bought 3 for Christmas gifts this year.

5 of 5 Really neally neat little device Saturday, September 13, 2008
Mike from Rockport, IN
Its really PC friendly and easy to use. Memory on board is a big plus of course but in comparison I think it gives the popular Ipod a equal challenge.

5 of 5 Great little player Tuesday, August 19, 2008
A Customer from Vienna, VA
Loaded the software on my computer and easily downloaded all of the photos and music I selected onto the Zen. With good headphones (not the ones provided), it produces great sound. The controls are fairly intuitive and have had no problems so far. A nice touch is included voucher for a free audio book and free month of Napster.

5 of 5 Those Buying IPods Are Wasting Money Tuesday, August 19, 2008
O Thomas from Saint Louis, Missouri
I bought a lower GB Zen back earlier this year and I was very pleased with the results. The Creative software works like a charm and loading any type of media (pictures, music, movies) is pretty easy. The only drawback is sometimes the flash drive inside gets hung up so U have to reset it using a safety pin or small paper clip (neither of which are common stuff in your pocket) but U can't have it all. For those of us who have scanned their music into their PCs using Windows Media over the years, this is a godsend. I would suggest this product to anyone who is planning to buy a MP3 player. I hate IPod because I would have to take the music already on my PC in the WMA format and put it in Apple's proprietary format (AAC) and let me tell you, it is time-consuming when U are converting over 1000 files because the so-called great IPod does not take WMA files. The American buying public should be warned about buying IPod products because they are wasting serious money and can get the same if not better.

5 of 5 Sounds great, plenty of memory, nice screen! Tuesday, August 05, 2008
A Customer from Newington, CT
I got a 4GB before i realized that an 8 GB Zen was out there for just $20 more for a family mbr. Fell in love w/screen, sound, size and easy functions. Was about to buy 8 GB for myself when i saw the 16 GB, had just come out. Saved $30 off of it by apply'g for the Buy.com credit card. Memorized all menus in 1 nite. Its my 1st mp3 player and i'm an old bird. I am technically savvy tho'. I've already learned about the equalizer which i tweaked and now have best sound w/ear buds (which by the way sound better than most). I downloaded about 1,000 fotos and just started w/music-5 albums. Wanted to experiment w/higher quality sound so i updated to WMP 11 and increased bit rate from 128bits to 196 bits (max). Takes a bit longer to upload but might make a diff to audiophiles out there. The FM tuner works nicely, set 15 CH which i enjoy, i play albums when i want something specific. I'm just discovering audio books now, thats something i really enjoy! Audible has lotsa choices but i also learned my local library had free books to upload from their website!!! I just love this thing. I recommend ordering a protective skin or case if you want to take care of it. My experience going to brick/mortar stores was no Creative Zen acessories. Just for IP*d N*no. On websites, Creative Zen V but rarely the sm Zen. The 3 color skins are nice, we shared them since we have 2 Zens in the family now. (Red, BLK, Blue). The only other device I considered in my research was the Cowen D2 or Zune. This one for the price was a best buy. Hoped this helps you...

5 of 5 Everything you could want in an MP3 Player. Monday, August 04, 2008
Chris from Connecticut
This player looks great and has the performance to back it up. The audio quality is exactly what you would expect from a creative product, superb. (I would, however, reccomend investing in a pair of better headphones) The screens colors are vibrant and crisp. The controls are very easy to master. It is difficult to navigate through the player with one hand, the player can be used more quickly with two hands. The video quality is as good as the audio. The large screen and incredible color the displays are a joy to behold. The screen is large and is therefore prone to scratches. I highly reccomend buying a screen protector for this player. Overall the best MP3 player I have ever owned, Wouldnt trade it for any other.

5 of 5 The perfect music player for on-the-go Sunday, August 03, 2008
this-is-me from Valdosta, GA
AN IN-DEPTH REVIEW OF THE CREATIVE ZEN--------Pros: Beautiful screen (much higher brightness than I have seen on comparable iPods).--------Amazingly long play time (as often as I play music, I have yet to see it on low battery, and it has been about a week since I first charged).--------Easy to navigate interface. The Zen's predecessor, the Zen Vision:M, had a very easy to navigate interface, but the new Zen is even easier to access the features I need quickly.--------Cons: Screen is EASILY scratched. I seriously recommend the "Invisible Shield" for Zen available from Zagg.com - with it I can rake my keys across the screen very harshly without a single problem. Without it is a different story entirely.--------I had purchased the Invisible Shield on the same day I ordered the Zen, but chose the free shipping option. This meant no tracking, but I wanted to save money. Big mistake. I got the player in 2 days (Kudos to Buy.com), but the shield came after about a week. During this time, with nothing more than keeping the player in my pants pocket with normal amounts of lint, I managed to accidentally create some very visible scratches. Needless to say I was horrified. Using some instructions from the internet, I was able to remove them, but to play it safe, I left my brand new player alone for the rest of the time while I WAITED for the Invisible Shield. This was almost unbearably annoying. I just purchased a player that I could not even use yet. After I applied the new shield, I am VERY pleased with it. I would recommend that if you purchase the Invisible Shield, you get anything but the free shipping option, and DO NOT EVEN USE your player until the shield has been applied. Believe me when I say it is every bit worth the wait.--------I don't mean to sound like I am advertising the Invisible Shield, because I am not, but in my case it only made sense to get one. After paying almost $200 for my player, I am not going to risk getting scratches on it when I can get the shield for only $25 (full body shield). This is especially true when the company also offers a free lifetime warranty with any of their shields!--------Con #2: Limitation on movie physical dimensions. This player has wide format support including DivX, Xvid and most popular formats on the internet. However, you cannot even play a video larger than 320x240, which means for downloaded movies (most are DVD quality), you will need to convert it. The included conversion software provides the highest quality at the expense of time. I would recommend freeware alternatives available on the internet. Epizenter.net has a good forum with dedicated discussions on this topic. I decided to use Iriverter 0.15 since the speed is faster than the latest JAVA-Enabled version available from the Iriverter website. With the older 0.15 version, I can usually convert a 2hr movie in about 25 minutes.--------I am very happy overall with the functionality of this player. I already had the Zen Vision:M and was looking for a lighter player to replace it to take with me. I have been completely amazed by the sheer size of this player. When they say "the size of a credit card", it doesn't dawn on you what that means in size until you actually have it in your hands. It's screen is HUGE for the physical dimensions of the player itself.--------I would recommend and have recommended this player to friends, family, and now, other Buy.com customers.

5 of 5 Non-techie loves it Thursday, July 24, 2008
A Customer from Carrollton, TX
I'm not very technical, so this MP3 is perfect. I wanted one that plays other formats (not only proprietary ones). It's easy to download and organize files. The screen resolution is beautiful! I keep a lot of pictures on it so I can show friends. Only negative is that when I plug it into my car stereo, the volume has to be cranked to max to hear anything. My daughter's iPod played over the same cord can be played at normal volume, hence can be turned up louder if I want. Higly recommended.

5 of 5 The perfect MP3 video player Sunday, July 06, 2008
csano13 from Johnson City, NY
Small, compact, easy interface, and basiclly infinate memory with the SD slot. I have 2 friends buy the same player after seeing mine...and I have only had it for 1 week. Not to mention Ipods CAN'T compare with sound quality of Creative. Owners will not be disappointed.

5 of 5 muy bueno Sunday, July 06, 2008
A Customer from san francisco, CA
If you've ever had a creative audio player, you know that they sound fantastic. I bought this to replace my lost (or stolen, who knows) Zen Vision:M. It's great, very svelte and shiny. I should have got the 32gb though! The UI is good, they made it prettier than the Zen Vision, but I have two complaints. One thing, and others have mentioned this too, is that the files on your SD card aren't automatically integrated into your library, and when you go to look at pictures on your SD card, it stops whatever music you're listening too and starts "playing" the pictures as a slide show. Pretty annoying, but again, that's only when dealing with the SD card. The OTHER thing wrong with the interface is as follows, and this pissed me off on my ZV:M and I'm really disappointed that they haven't fixed this yet. When you select "random play all" it plays all your songs on shuffle. This is fine, but if you want to go to an album and start listening to that, it STAYS on shuffle. You have to go into the audio settings every time to swtich it back after doing random play all. God it's so annoying. But that's a minor complaint compared to how happy I am with the rest of the product!

4 of 5 Love it but miss my iPod Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Daveydad from Roanoke VA
I bought the 16GB Zen becuz I am a Rhapsody-To-Go member and it's a no brainer to take advantage of their 4+ million songs. I've been a long-time iPod user and although the Zen works great I do miss the iPod click-wheel. The Zen has more buttons and is a little more difficult to navigate than the iPod. One other minor complaint - my iPod turns on instantly... the Zen takes at least 15 seconds. A minor gripe. All in all, I really like it. Nice large screen and well-built. If you're thinking of a subscription service like Rhapsody or Napster... this baby will fit the bill!

5 of 5 Excellent Creative Zen Mp3 Player Wednesday, June 25, 2008
A Customer from Walnut Grove, CA
This is my first experience with a Creative product, and I have to it's great. First off the size is as advertised it is small enough to fit in your pocket. The sound quality on music is excellent. I used Rhapsody to transfer all my music and to make playlists and had no problems. The screen is nicely lit in all type of light. I used the Creative software that comes on the CD to transfer videos and it was pretty easy, it only took about an hour to convert and transfer a 2 hour movie. So I would definitely recommend this mp3 player to anyone not wanting to get an ipod.

5 of 5 Great Product & Shipping ! Tuesday, June 24, 2008
kento123 from N. Andover, MA USA
When I saw this come across my weekly buy.com alert I immediately checked to see if this was a good deal as I have been looking to upgrade my Creative Zen Vision 8 Mb. I'm happy to report that the product meets my expectations AND the free shipping @ buy.com got the product here quickly ! The available FM radio, recorder, and excellent video support are a great alternative to the iPod set ....Now I just need to add a high capacity SD card and I'm all set for the foreseeable future !

5 of 5 Love the new Zen!!! Monday, June 23, 2008
A Customer from Texas
Retired my old Zen Touch for the Zen 16. Love the small size, especially at the gym! Lots of features and easy to use. The only thing I don't really like is the software that comes with it. I much preferred the software that came with my Touch but it doesn't recognize the new player. All in all, you can't go wrong with this player!

4 of 5 Excellent player with a few caviats Monday, June 16, 2008
S R Bloom from Silver Spring, MD
I shopped for quite a while before deciding on the Zen. Besides wanting a good quality media player I was looking for two features in particular. I wanted it to be expandable, preferably using SD cards, since I use them for nearly everything, and I wanted bluetooth. None of the quality players I looked at had both, so I knew I was going to compromise over something. I am also rather wary of anything that uses proprietary formats, or insists on talking to some host out there on the internet in order to work properly. Almost all of my music is ripped from CDs. Although the iPod is a great product, it just didn't fit my requirements for expandability. The Zune seemed a bit ridiculous, both in the area of proprietary formats and in the idea of only talking to other Zunes. I don't know anybody who has one. The Zen is pretty solid, although at first the controls seem a little flimsy. The screen looks really good, and sound quality is excellent. (The earbuds that come with it are heavy on bass - definitely look for better headphone choices. I use a foldable Sennheiser that sounds terrific.) The limitation I didn't see coming is that it doesn't seem to like SDHC cards. I do have a couple of 2GB cards, though, so that's not too bad. If it had bluetooth I'd be ecstatic. As it is it's still an excellent player and has features that blow away the other players out there.

5 of 5 Excellent player Sunday, June 15, 2008
John from St. Paul, AK
I wanted a flash player since I'm always on the go and I wanted something with decent capacity. I don't just collect songs so I can have a bigger collection than the next guy. I only get music I really like so I don't have an extraordinarily large collection. This player fits every song that I own plus a few hundred pics and has some room for growth. The SD slot is a nice bonus. I think the sound quality through the headphones is pretty darn good and I like the custom EQ feature. However, the quality seems to suffer when played through my FM transmitter (Monster RadioPlay 300). I never noticed this kind of loss of quality with my Sansa m240. This is slightly disappointing since one major reason I wanted a higher capacity player was to eliminate the piles of CDs in my Jeep. My only other complaint, albeit minor, is that navigating through the menus, while straightforward, is a bit time consuming. It seems as though it should be more efficient. Overall I'm very happy with this gorgeous little player. It sounds good, video looks great, it holds a fair amount and the price is way more attractive than any iPod.

5 of 5 Best player for subsciption music Tuesday, May 13, 2008
Westport from Westport, CT
I use and love the rhapsody subscription music service. This player works well with the service, sounds great and has other excellent features. Most notably is that you can create play lists on the device and also use it like a juke box. The combination of quality and features sets it apart from just about any small player. I have not tried to watch videos on it yet. I highly recommend this device for people who use subscription music services.

5 of 5 I DON'T KNOW WHY ANYONE WOULD BUY ANY OTHER BRAND Monday, May 12, 2008
Greg from Brick, NJ
This is easy to use. Anyone can convert Music to any MP3 format with the Creative software. The software converts your disc's, names the album, names the tracks, and loads the music files to the player by genre with a description of everthing displayed on the easy to read screen. You can mix the formats, WMA, WAV, MP3 etc. it's compatible with Itunes. You can create play lists or just random play all the music files on the player. I have almost 300 songs and have used 1 gig of the 16 gig drive, I have a 16 gig SDHC Card on the way. This will double the capacity of 4000 songs/files to 8000 or allow a lot of video files. The battery charges quickly from the supplied USB download cable, but the first accessories should be the AC Adapter for $30, then the Screen Protectors $8.00, the Armband $15.00, and the Car Charger $15.00 is a real handy item.

5 of 5 Creative Zen 16gb Monday, May 05, 2008
A Customer from Camano Island, WA
I researched MP3 players for quite awhile before I decided on the Zen. I first bought the 8gb but found it wasn't big enough for my needs. I gave that to my son and got the 16gb. It holds all the music that I need and room to spare. I love everything about it and it does everything I want it to do.I was not able to find that in any other machine. It's the 3rd Creative that I have had and I have liked them all. I don't know why I looked around so much I should have just gone to Creative in the first place. I also bought a Zen V Plus 4gb for another son and he likes that too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Zen to anybody.

4 of 5 Loving it!!! Thursday, April 24, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
The Creative Zen is wonderful. It looks exactly as pictured, about the size of a credit card. The directions for use were somewhat confusing but I figured it out just by playing around with the system. Charging up is simple, just connect it to your laptop or PC via USB. I'm glad I made the decision to purchase this product. Thanks Buy.com for offering this product at a reasonable price.

A Customer from Starr, S.C.
The player worked for about a week, then would not be recognized by my Vista laptop. Creative was no help, They have no toll-free support; and their e-mails are condesending and insult my intelligence. The last time I buy a Creative product.

5 of 5 My 1st MP3! Tuesday, April 15, 2008
A Customer from Palmdale, CA
I do not have much experience with MP3's to compare it to, but this player puts out some very nice sound and volume when necessary. The user interface is very easy for rookies to use. I would highly recommend it. 16 GB with an expansion slot for more if necessary. I will have to buy a lot more music just to use the 16 GBs. Buy.com had a great price and fast delivery.

5 of 5 Small, Light, and Easy to Use! Tuesday, April 08, 2008
Brian from New York City
Menu's are intuitive, very nicely laid out. Player is very thin and very small, it's not in the nano size but it definitely can fit in your pocket. Accompanying transfer software is really light, no bulky converting, easy c/p to designated folders in player from computer. Video converting software is not the best, if you do some research you should be able to find something that will do this portion better then what creative supplies. Expandable memory is a plus but is an added section, your player will not see 16 + 4gb as 20gb, it sees 16gb alone and 4gb separately, not a big deal organizational wise. Overall two thumbs up for a compact and easy to use player, great value!

5 of 5 Great Player!! Wednesday, April 02, 2008
A Customer from NYC
pros:
-bright LCD screen even on 50%, and it's pretty big for this tiny player
-Zen Media Explorer Program is drag-and-drop available & user friendly.
-Zencast Organizer is user friendly
-A reset button just in case it gets stuck (unlike iPod)
-great sound
-sd card slot for extended memory
-free zencast videos & sound files
-small and light
-can be charged with blackberry charger
-FM Radio
-Different color themes
-supports different languages ( I know ipod does too, but some others don't)

Cons:
-video converter is pretty slow, but it works nevertheless, and using winavi to convert doesn't work.
-I don't like the syncing program because the artist and title become "<unknown>." I probably just don't know how to use it correctly, but since it's drag and drop available, it's ok and I'm happy with it.
-the entire usb cable from head to toe is about 3in. This is not bad for me, but it may be bad for people who don't have laptops

I haven't had this mp3 player long enough to experience the battery life. I had the zen sleek photo before this, and the programs are pretty much the same which I am happy about.

Yea it will probably get stuck, but I'm pretty sure NOT constantly. I had my zen sleek for two years now, and it only gets stuck once every 3-4 months. It's not that serious. Have a safety pin with you at all costs.

Make sure to buy a case because the player face smudges easily.

Zencast is pretty cool, and it's free. There are tons of videos and sound files on there.

I know I will love this player as much as my Zen Sleek.

4 of 5 Good Product Sunday, March 30, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
I bought this product with high expectations, most of which were met. For substantially less money than comparable players made by other companies, it provides good quality audio and video. My only gripes are that transfer times for video were higher than I expected, and it takes longer to scroll to specific points in audiobooks using the Zen's buttons than my old iPod's touch wheel

4 of 5 Nice little unit, but... Wednesday, March 19, 2008
A Customer from Sierra Madre, CA
The compact size is easy to throw in your pocket and possibly lose it if you are not careful of where you put it last! Great sound and it is nice to have a standard mini USB connector for the road. The software is easy but, hopefully, on new releases they will make the features more extensive. For example, making playlists on the player is very limiting and you cannot add to a current playlist that has all ready been created (?) It should have the ability to add any track you are listening to but no, you have to be in a certain mode to add a track to the "selected" list and then create another playlist - very awkward. The SDHC slot (tested up to 8GB) is a nice touch for sure but it doesn't integrate any features of the regular player into it so it is like accessing a separate player with even fewer options (you can't even delete a track, for example) You can add to the player off of it but it has to be the whole thing or nothing at all. All in all it is a nice player with a good size screen for videos and pictures and I'm glad I got it.

3 of 5 Great Product with Nice Features Tuesday, March 18, 2008
A Customer from Fort Morgan, CO
It is a very nice MP3 player. Has an excellant viewing screen and the sound quality is great! Only drawback is that the filmware that is in the player should be updated before sent out to the customer or at least tell the customer that he needs to update the filmware before using the player. I spent many hours trying to figure that out before I got my Creative Zen to work right. The FM Radio feature work great!

5 of 5 iWHO? Saturday, March 01, 2008
A Customer from Dallas, TX
I just recently purchased my first MP3 player and I respectfully chose the Zen and I am not having a single problem with it! You pay a low price (in a sense) for a ton of space, a reliable brand and get this; you don't even have to install a program to transfer songs/videos/pictures onto it! They have a CD with it, but you can simply click & drag! I'm taking extra care of this thing, but I do suggest one thing for those who hate earbud headphones; buy yourself some DJ headphones or any cup headphones.

4 of 5 Zen 16GB Monday, February 25, 2008
Wayne from Baltimore, MD
Works well, a little larger than I thought. Controlls a bit different than my other Creative products, however, getting to know what does what. I would recommend buying this product.

5 of 5 Crative Zen Wednesday, February 20, 2008
T. W. Timm from Sharpsburg, GA
This product worked fine right out of the box. The controls are easy to manipulate ... the sounds quality is great ... and the screen is easily viewed in all sorts of lighting. I bought this mainly for the small size and the storage space and I'm not at all disappointed. I use Yahoo Music Unlimited and I was concerned as to whether or not it was compatible as it's not on Yahoo's list as being able to transfer music files out of the box without downloading firmware updates and I was unable to get a definitive answer from Yahoo, but Yahoo did immediately recognize it and loading files to the Zen was a breeze. I really bought this for listening to music and haven't used it for videos yet.
