The Sansa Shaker features many ways to listen to and share songs. It has a built-in speaker to enjoy music without ear buds, to play your favorite music, and listen with your friends & family. Plus it comes with two headphone jacks. You also have the ability to play and share SD cards loaded with your favorite songs. (A SanDisk SD Memory card included)
Changing songs on the Sansa Shaker is a snap –or rather, a “shake”. You can impress your friends by shaking the device to jump to the next song, or use the colorful controller bands for forward and backward changing as well to manipulate volume.
The Sansa Shaker is available in a choice of colors, and comes equipped with a USB cable, lanyard, pre-loaded songs, and a colorful array of stickers so kids can customize their device. A AAA battery is included which allows up to 10 hours of music playback, when using headphones.

We own four Sansa Shakers. They are excellent for young children, especially children too young to read the display of a more expensive mp3 player (of course, the lack of a display is the players biggest weakness, as you can't directly access a particular song, album or artist). The two audio jacks make the Shaker ideal for two kids to share while riding in a car. Shakers only require one AAA battery and accept rechargeable batteries. The external speaker won't win awards for sound quality, but it is useful for playing quiet music in a quiet office, or for quickly letting others hear what song is playing. My 6 year old son has had his for a year now and takes it every where! It has held up extremely well. The speakers aren't fantastic but he doesn't care and they are adequate. It is the perfect size, fits in the hand but not so small that it gets lost. He has the 1 GB which is plenty big for his music needs. I have heard of elderly and handicapped individuals enjoying the simplicity of this player as well. Was this review helpful?

It is nice, small, and different. And that last one is what matters most to kids now. The two headphone plugs and the built in external speaker is a great feature. Two kids can listen together via headphones, or just listen while it plays thru the speaker. Not amazing quality speakers, but good enough.
Don;t worry about the "shake to go to next song" feature. You have to be pressing a button while shaking it to skip. So, it won;t keep jumping while jogging :)

for a young guy. My son loves it. Got a pink one for my daughter too. They come with a carabiner clip that the kids attach to their belt loops, bookbags, whatever. The 1GB model is plenty big for all the music they like. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this product for my son (7) for Christmas. He is very happy with it. The speaker and dual headphone jacks are a great bonus. Sound quality is a little lacking but a 7 year old really doesn't care, it sounds pretty good. The only caution is if you want to hook it up to a home receiver or the MP3 player jack in your car you will need to turn the bass WAY DOWN. Apprently the unit highly compensates for poor bass response from it's headphones and built in speaker. One other thing to be aware of is that if you store a Gig of songs on this thing you will be skipping forward for a long time to find your favorite song. I knew this going into it so it wasn't a big deal but something to think about before buying. Was this review helpful?

The children 9, 11, 13 were a little afraid of the uniqueness of the shaker but after a week they are all-pro shakers and all their friends want one too. For the money I felt it should come with a 2 gig card instead of 1. Easy to transfer music via card or usb cable. Was this review helpful?
