5 of 5 Works Great Wednesday, February 25, 2009 jsoto from Berkeley, CA
Like the other reviewers, this is a great product that met my needs to control my PS3 (especially for watching Blu-ray disks) along with all my AV gear using a single Logitech Harmony remote control over IR. IR is important to me because I also use a Next Generation ATH-AAA Remote Control Extender with my Logitech Remote Control to automate and control all my AV gear, now including the PS3, that I keep inside a closed cabinet.
The Nyko Blue wave is already affordable and the Buy.com price was the cheapest I found. The product arrived in just a couple of days and was easy to set up.
The only missing feature is the ability to turn off the PS3 since there is no PS button. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 OUTSTANDING!!! Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Steve from new your city
the USB IR receiver alone is worth it... Now I can use my remote to control my PS3, by this this if you need IR control not bluetooth... The Blu Wave allows you to easily control the playback of Blu-Ray movies... Was this review helpful?

Works like it should, all functionality is there. I have only had the unit for a couple of months, but so far there has been no problems. Far better than using the controllers. Was this review helpful?

you do not have to learn the functions, go to "game consoles with dvd, Nyko Bluewave", in the harmony device library. You may have to add some functions using program keys on the Harmony, depending on the model remote you have. Was this review helpful?

I got a PS3 knowing that I would not be able to control it with my Harmony 550 remote and I was OK with that fact. I had a PS2 before and have always favored the pop up interface they used to control DVD playback over my standard DVD player. I just never liked having the controller in my lap during a movie. Inevitably I would hit the L1 or L2 button on accident and skip ahead a couple of chapters in my movie.
So, when I stumbled upon this remote I bought it on the spot. The USB/IR sensor dongle is worth the price alone. Nyko has been making my gaming life allot easier over the past few months. First, they release some essential charging stations for PS3 and Wii controllers, then they solve the pesky lack of IR sensor on the PS3 problem.
As soon as it arrived I plugged in the USB dongle and was controlling Blue-Ray movies like no-bodies business. Then I sat down and mapped it to my Harmony remote. The Harmony remote had to “learn” all of the commands manually, it’s an easy enough task , just make sure you don’t switch up the left and right directional buttons like I did the first time through. Also, I had to dial down the length of the IR blast coming from my Harmony remote. One press of the button would scroll through 5 or six icons on the screen. Once these things were dialed in it worked like a dream.
The only negative I could find is that there is no PS button the Nyko remote. This basically means that there is no way to turn the PS3 on or off as part of a Harmony remote “activity”. I quickly got over this fact though. You usually have to get up off the couch to put a DVD into the machine anyway, so I guess turning on the PS3 manually is a fair trade for being able to get my system all back on one remote. If you have a PS3 and any Harmony remote this is the missing link to entertainment nirvana.
