5 of 5 Cruzer 2gb Monday, January 19, 2009
snakepudding from Orange County, CA

This is my 2nd used daily flash drive. I have used this flash drive until the id has worn-off. No issues and I like it a lot. The retractable connector is a real positive. No more lost caps...

4 of 5 pretty good as readyboost Thursday, April 17, 2008
A Gamer from Temple, TX
I purchased two of these, one for ready boost and the other to use as storage/U3 launch feature. I use vista, dell inspiron desktop, and tried the thumb drive in the back port; Automatically recognized, ran fine for a while. Then I noticed the orange light stopped blinking. I checked "Computer>removabledrive>properties"...and the readyboost had stopped...The pie showed 1810 mb(less than 2gb because of the U3 launch) was "free space" not being used. I reset the drive to use as readyboost, extra memory. Five minutes later, it stopped blinking and working again. After about an hour of this I called sanDisk, they said maybe a defect or try different port. I tried a front port and has worked fine since. I guess it is okay, but whenever I see it stop blinking, I automatically check to see if it is turned off. Based on this glitch, I only gave it a 3-4. I can not recommend or negate this product. It works, now; and, was a fairly decent price when I purchased it. Although, I think any other product would work as well.

4 of 5 What everone says is true but... Saturday, March 15, 2008
Mark from NY
I've got issue with the design. When inserting it into usb slot it wants to retract back into handle. I have to apply quite a bit of pressure on tab to prevent this (Doesn’t feel right). Maybe it’s a defective unit(Not worth shipping back to find out). This is my first retractable thumb drive (looked like a good idea, no cap to misplace). So far my fav design is the Lexar JumpDrive big rubber boot that secures to keyring and drive slips into it, at first I'd thought it was a bad idea the drive isn't secure, well I have two of them(For long time). I'm hard on them and never lost.

5 of 5 Does what I need it to do very well. Sunday, January 27, 2008
A Gamer from Katy, Texas
I have a Pioneer DV-400V which I use to watch AVI movies utilizing its USB port and this Cruzer. This Cruzer is fast in copying media to itself from my computer. 3 minutes or less for a 700MB AVI file. I recommend it highly.

Although I probably won't use readyboost, I like the amount of storage there is and I think the quality of the drive enclosure is good.

5 of 5 Wonderful Product! Monday, January 14, 2008
edcaroleg from Canyon Lake, TX
This SanDisk is easy to use, fast, small and holds a bunch! So far we have only used it to transfer photos and files between computers with different operating systems (with no problems),and for operating a memoryless digital picture frame after loading it with pictures from both of these computers. XP, Vista and the picture frame recognize the device so its just plug and play!

5 of 5 Good quality thumb drive Monday, January 07, 2008
Geoff from Eden Prairie, MN
I bought 4 of those for my kids, and they work very well. Fast, and nice feel on the retractable plug (you push down a little to release the catch and retract it). Only one small annoyance as the "U3" software that's installed on it. Supposedly a value add, didn't like that fact that it popped up a little "U3" icon along with installing "something" in the taskbar. I wanted to just wipe it off, but the fact that you can't re-install it made me hesitate (what if one day I actually wanted it?). Anyway, the drive itself is very nice.

2 of 5 Delete the Software Sunday, December 02, 2007
A Gamer from Golden, Colorado
The software that comes with this device is pretty much a useless anoyance. It constantly locked up my computer and others who have the same product have experienced the same problem. For it to be useful, I had to go to the manufacturer's site and find the program to delete the sofware because the deletion software was not included on the drive I purchased. Without the software it works acceptably.

5 of 5 Excellent flash drive Saturday, December 01, 2007
Shawn from Tallahassee, FL
This is a great flash drive. When inserted into the computer USB port, a menu pops up that includes an eject button, so you don't have to go through the normal, annoying removal process. I accidently left this thing in my pocket and put it through the washing machine, and it still works just as well as it did before. The only bad experience I've had with it is sometimes the computer doesn't read it even though the light comes on showing that it is correctly in the USB port and should be recognized by the computer. I've had this problem both before and after putting it through the washing machine, so it isn't a result of that.

5 of 5 Great memory device Thursday, November 29, 2007
vze3xgkt from Keene, NH
It also has the U3 program included, like Skytpe, password holder, HP photo and others. I have been using it to store photos, downloads, important emails and it keeps them off the hard drive. The USB plug slides back up into body so you aren't hunting the cap. The prices keep coming down also. They are a handy unit.

4 of 5 Good size on key chain Thursday, November 29, 2007
PG from NJ
I wanted a simple USB drive to attach to my key chain. This one has the right size and the retrievable head works well. No plastic caps to fly around. The software is very annoying though and you are forced to install a program on EVERY PC it plugs in. And a window with menus like 'copy, paste, eject' pops out everytime you plug it in. But I just want to copy files from PC to PC, why do I need a program to help me with that simple job? It's also embarrasing to use it on friend's PC. You can not remove it by delete/format. Apparently Sandisk realized this issue and there is a program available on Sandisk web site to remove that annoying thing permanently from the USB drive.

5 of 5 Nice Device Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Cool little stick with retractable connector. Price was right and performance is as expected. It has some nifty software trial stuff on it but some of it is free and handy and you can delete it if you don't need it.

4 of 5 Good Price - Not a high end device. Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Gamer from New York, NY
I have owned several flash drives and this was a great price for the size. You realize why is priced as such when you use it. It is incredibly slow. At first I thought it might be my computer, but having used it on several computers (both Mac & PC), I am certain it is the flash drive. For the low price, I really shouldn't complain, but if you are looking for something to transfer big files with (I frequently work with graphics and video files that are above 300mb) you should shell out the extra money for a faster device. If your looking for a cheap and easy to use backup that you can keep in your pocket or briefcase, look no further.

5 of 5 Solid Technology Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A Gamer from Medford, MA
I've owned quite a few Cruzer's now, and they are good solid pieces of equipment. This drive is particulary compact, especially when the USB plug is retracted. My only complaint would be that it feels a bit flimsier than the metal-cased drives I've bought from SanDisk in the past, but not to the point that it's affected my opinion of the device. This was my first Cruzer with "Ready Boost", which I'm not fond of because I like my storage media simple. But if you don't like it you can just format the drive, and if you do it's a 'free' bonus. Nothing to lose there. An excellent value for a great piece of storage hardware.

5 of 5 A GREAT BUY!! Wednesday, November 28, 2007
Dr. John Michaels from Hibbing, MN
I am very pleased with the value and performance of this jump drive. No more checking the list of passwords and one heck of a lot of storage. If you are a businessman and need to back up data, I highly recommend this product. I couldn't be happier.

5 of 5 Good value Wednesday, November 28, 2007
StringAlongWithVince from Largo, FL
I bought this to use as readyboost for Vista. It works great for this. When I ordered it, the description didn't say it had U3, but it does. I'm not using that feature, but may try it in the future.

5 of 5 Worked as advertised Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Rob from Middletown CT
The unit worked as required and with no problems on Windows XP I decided to use it on my linux desktop and decided to remove the first partition which held the U3 software since I had no use for it. It appears that U3 was a good product but was not needed for my use. There is a utility on sandisk website to remove the partition and get the full 2 gb's out of the drive That also worked well

5 of 5 SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 w/ Ready Boost Tuesday, November 27, 2007
rockcanyon from West Texas
I bought this 2GB Cruzer Micro and another brand 2GB a short time afterward. Both claimed ReadyBoost. The Cruzer ReadyBoost works on both my laptop and also on my wife's laptop. The other brand would only provide ReadyBoost on mine. That tells me that its transfer rates are marginal. I recommend the SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 w/ Ready Boost if you plan to enable ReadyBoost. The slide-in/slide-out USB connector is the best arrangement I've ever had on any USB drive - no caps to lose yet it's protected while in your pocket. If you're only using it for portable storage or don't ever plan to use it with Vista it's still a handy drive.

1 of 5 Save your $$$ Tuesday, November 27, 2007
A Gamer from Seattle, WA
Product simply does not work! Tried all the fixes the web site says but cant get it to work with my XP operating system. Cant plug it into the computer because it then freezes up. Tried formating it on another computer so I could at least use it, but computer freezes as soon as it is plugged in. Would return it if I had the receipt!!

docvicki from shawnee, ok
I have several of these and have found them to be both indispensible and sturdy. My husband has washed his, twice, and it still works. I have no problems with this unit at all and strongly suggest it for everyone. I also like the U3 applications.

5 of 5 It's really good Tuesday, November 27, 2007

The SanDisk holds everything I need it to, keeps it safe, and plugs into almost every computer (so long as it has a version of Windows older than 2000). And it works great. What more could I ask for?

5 of 5 This drive is SUPER!!! Friday, October 26, 2007
Janie from Minneapolis, mn
I love this flash drive. I'm a senior and sometimes feel overwhelmed by some computer extras. This drive is so simple to use - even for a nearly 70 year old! And it's really fast. Not having to open up each and every file in a folder is a real time-saver. The capacity is amazing. Thanks for the nice discount for new users to the site. My ratings are a 'high 5' in every category.

2 of 5 I just wanted a flash drive, not all the garbage Thursday, September 20, 2007
ken.g from Hollywood, Florida
I get flash drives to copy and transport data. This unit came with all of this U3 garbage on it. Also some kind of virtual disk drive that created havok whener I inserted the thing. I had to go to the U3 site to uninstall all the garbage. I will never buy this brand again. I will stick with Kingston or Memorex, they are just plain flash drives.

I had one of these go bad over two months ago. I contacted SanDisk Customer Service twice (one time they did get back to me saying they would research it) and have never heard from them since. Go with the Kingston! Better warranty and cheaper!

Before I put an order, it showed that it is in stock. But after I put an order, it showed out of stock and in back order. I desided to wait. After 2 weeks, I was told by email that it was shipped out. After another 6 weeks, I received rebate check. Overall, it is good. It is a good buy at Buy.com

5 of 5 HIPPA! I love this drive. Simple and secure Tuesday, August 14, 2007
Dr. Steven Machado from West Hollywood, CA
I've used several "secure" USB keys and this one works simply and easily AND I don't have to worry if I lose it because the files are secure. I occasionaly have patient files on my pocket backup and have FREAKED-OUT in the past when I thought I had lost it on a plane.

3 of 5 Sliding port is a bit too clever Monday, August 06, 2007
almcc from Atlanta, GA
Drive works fine and seems reasonably fast. You'll just want to consider whether a couple of this drive's design features will be a problem for you. First, the sliding port makes for nice transporting, but there isn't any way to lock it in the extended position. This becomes a problem when you are trying to slide this into a USB slot with tight clearances (for example, your port is deeply recessed or it's below another port that's full and you can't unplug the upper USB cable). In this case, you can't keep your finger on the slider, so when you push it in, the tip just retracts rather than plugging in. Pretty frustrating. Less important, the the U3 functionality can be pretty annoying when you just want to use it as a flash drive. It doesn't seem to cause any significant problems, though. These two problems aside, it has been a fast and reliable drive for me (except when I've wanted to throw it out the window...)

4 of 5 Good product for decent price Saturday, August 04, 2007
Kranthi Bandaru from Rochester Hills ,MI
The Sandisk Cruser micro is very good at performance.. The Speed of data transfer is pretty good.. Pros : Good data speed transfer..Has good in built feaures such as Skype etc... Cons : Is not easily Detectable. At times if there are any network drives connected, u need to remove the nework drives as there would a drive letter conflict while assigning the drive to sandisk. This is the only issue i had with Sandisk.. Overall performance wise.. its excellent..

5 of 5 Product works as advertised Saturday, August 04, 2007
dwess from White Plains, NY
I purchased this item because of the possibility that ReadyBoost would actually speed up my system. The Sandisk flash drives does work perfectly as a storage device (no suprise there, these things are really commodity items by now) byt I have no idea if ReadyBoost actually does anything to increase system performance. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Maunil from Yuma, AZ
This is excellent key, I've been using for little over a month now and no problems whatsoever. Good amount of storage, pretty small(way smaller than my last one) and it's very good for value. I got mine for about $20 after rebate and rebate arrived safely.

4 of 5 Excellent flash memory, Readyboost disappoints Friday, July 06, 2007
A Gamer from Columbia, MO
The unit was immediately recognized by my laptop when I plugged it into the USB. I chose initially to use it as a Readyboost accessory as I only have 1 GB on the Vista laptop. However, I saw no noticeable difference in use or startup time but to be fair, I do not multitask when using the laptop so it may not be the proper test. I have instead decided to use this as flash memory thumb drive only so I don't have to worry about snapping the unit off if I move the laptop. Very inexpensive (rebate available at time of purchase) for the quality manufacturer and size. Granted, it is not 8 or 16 GB, but I do not intend to use it to transfer movies or large blocks of music files.

3 of 5 Hardware Ok, Software annoying Wednesday, July 04, 2007

Hardware is OK. The software (Launchpad) that comes loaded on the jump drive is annoying. Self installs without prompting. Makes it a pain to use it on other computers. Uninstalled it to get the full capacity of the drive.

This is an awesome product from a great company! The installation was quick and painless on Windows Vista. I really like that the USB connector retracts into the unit. I have seen many that don't retract and they have a habit of breaking.

5 of 5 Feather-light and Doesn't Suck Tuesday, July 03, 2007
John Pendleton from Denver CO
For the weight and price, this is a terrific 2Gb flash drive. The included software can be more than a little intrusive, though, if you know how you want to use the drive space and don't need superflous "synchronization" applications. The software actually establishes itself as a separate drive letter on your system as soon as you plug it in, making you think twice about handing the Cruzer Micro to someone else to plug into their machine for a file transfer. I mean, how obnoxious is that? It's viral-type behavior and not socially acceptable in the digital age. I'm seriously considering a reformat -- but the unit itself is perfecly handy.

4 of 5 Lost identity Tuesday, July 03, 2007
Lee Schlunder from Roseburg Oregon
I found a jump drive on the floor at Las Vegas Comdex. It had all a guy's addresses, passwords, all kinds of things. I returned it to him. It could have gone much worse him. The cruzer software offers to encode and password protect your passwords. How do we know it can't be decoded? Worse, it goes on the internet without asking permission. I hate that. Other included software stores programs that run right from the cruzer skipping the usual C: storage. It only runs special cruzer programs so this will not be doing much for me. The activity light stays on most of the time. One wonders what it is doing. I give it a 5 as a jump drive but I'm tempted to delete the software. I would rather encore my data separately and not wonder who the darn drive is talking to on the internet.
