I'm one of the ones that did not receive a rebate check after 4 months of waiting and checking. I feel lied to even if this product is good. I will change my rating if I ever get a rebate check.

Good product for the price with rebates. I have brought it about one year ago and it is still working. I had recieved all the rebates as they have mentioned.

The drive looks great and works perfect out of the box. Aside from that, I must say the rebate process is dreadful. After numerous attempts in trying to contact the company, I just received my rebate money last week. It's really easy to setup and configure. I like the fact that I can use it between my PC and MAC computers.

This is the first drive that i purchased from Vox and it really did work for me, its really cost worthy. i mean for the price i really can't complain, i runs really quiet and stay cool for a long time.

I've been using this hard drive for over a month and I've done my best to really put it to the test. As of today, all I can say is that it works as advertised and that the price paid is way below what I would've expected. A simple drive. Funtions properly on all levels. This disk really moves the data fast.

Love the look and the quickness. I also like that you can switch the ports. Hopefully if a new connection comes out VOX will allow you to purchase new add-ons. I had the hardest time getting the eSata to work. I tried everything to get it work. Updated my drivers, tried a different cable, got a different ExpressCard, updated my bios. Nothing. I was sure it was Vista. Then I saw a post about cables not fitting in right so i shaved the end down with an exacto knife. Now it works great!gets a real hot on the bottom so be careful where you put it.

I just got my $50.00 rebate check. Good solid HD.. my laptop only has 80gs. so i keep this in my bag to hold all my other data. i had one other HD before but crashed after a hard drop. i have a feeling this drive can withstand just about anything.

Usb conneciton is much faster than previous generations. Have yet to use the esata, seems complicated.

What can I say, very fast, Holds close to 500GB and hooked up as easy as sticking in a USB memory stick. It really couldn't be any easier. Very pleased with it.

Like most conscious shoppers, I was a bit speculative about the crazy deal I saw being offered on this drive. You know what they, "Too good to be true.." Anyways, having received my money in just a few months, I feel pretty smart now. On the down side, the dive comes formatted with FAT32 to allow multi-operating system compatibility. Took about a good hour to get it to NTFS. Came with all necessary cables for installation.

plug and play, fast usb transfers, lots of space. The hard drive inside in a Western digital. The packaged software seems to be mediocre, but you really don't need it. This is a nice drive for a real affordable price.

Listen yall, I just a $50 rebate check from a company that has been given a false reputation. I would try emailing rebates@voxproducts.com for those who haven't gotten their money. The drive was really easy to setup. Manual definitely needs some improvement.

I'm not writing this because I didn't get my rebate whatsoever. Everyone of the condition in the rebate is making sure you don't get it. Forget about the rebate I'm having problems with hard drive and I couldn't get to anybody in their customer service. I wrote email to Buy.com about this company and there you go all of a sudden I get call from the customer service and they are willing to help me right away. But after sending my information still its more than a month and no reply yet. They absconded again. I have to start my chase again because my hard drive has important data in it. I wouldn't recommend this product get a better one spend little more and get one that has better customer support.

This review is based only on the fact it's been 6 months and I have still not received either of the 2 rebates I submitted. and the company is impossible to contact, they told me 1 time the rebates were on the way months ago.

I disagree with the rebate problems..I bought this hard drive last summer 2007. The rebate was late but it did come. And hard drive works great..When you do rebates you have to make sure you fil them and send everything they tell you , If you do anything wrong at all they can reject it.

I guess VOX isn't so bad after all. Just got my 2 checks for a purchase made back in November. For a while there, I had my doubts that I would not get my $70. Checks arrived 2 days ago. A nice piece of hardware considering it was dirt cheap. Life has gotten a bit easier since I'm able to put all my files on this disk.

The simplest thing I've ever had to operate. Works without a hiccup. Saved $40 on rebate. Moves data around quiet fast. Serves all my storage needs.

You will NOT get your rebate...they will not respond to your emails. The hard drive will work just fine, but chances are you are getting this because of the price w/ the rebate. When I got mine it was $45 after 2 $35 rebates and I never got those. They claimed that I did not have my receipt...many others had the same problem

I have not experienced any serious problem with the product itself. My beef is with Vox for not sending the rebate checks. The notes on the rebate forms said that they would be processed 12 weeks after the promotional period. This time was exceded a month ago and still no checks. They do not reply to my e-mails, and turned what should have been a great deal into a rip off. Other reveiwers agree with me, so I know that my situation is common. Do not support this company. Consider yourself warned.

This external hard drive died before I receive my rebate. I used this product to backup all my important data and it crash after 2 month I used it and now I lost all my precious information. After investigation, the hard drive(WD drive)warranty was expired a year before I bought this product. Please do not buy this product. Not recommended to everyone.

First of all, rebates never come!!!! I purchased this item mainly because of the rebates. I supposed to get 2 rebate checks for a total of $70. I sumbitted my rebates on time with all the supporting documents in mid Dec, shortly after I received the product from buy.com. Now is mid April and I am still waiting/hoping for my rebates to come. No postccard sent to me about these rebates. I emailed them and no reply. If I know that they do not honor the rebates, I will NEVER buy it. Please watch out!!!! Second of all, the power connector to the external hard drive is very bad. it does not have a good solid plug. A little touch on thehard drive may loose the power plu to the hard drive, and if you are in the middle of ssaving files to the hard drive, without power, the file transfer will stop. You have to start all over. Very poor design on the power adapter. BAD Design!!!!

The device is not easy for non-techies to use. The power cable is loose. DO NOT BUY! The rebate is worthless - they created a rebate process that is literally impossible to complete, so you will not get your rebate. I kid you not.

Bought the driver on 11/20/2007, The item was a DOA. It took me five weeks to get the driver replaced from VOX. For the rebate part, VOX inflated the price to offer $70 rebate on the product. Summitted all requested docs (including registering form printed from the web site) on time but VOX has denied my request. Email and phone calls on the rebate were never returned. Save the trouble and stay away from this company.

I purchased this item because it was or rather should have been cheap after the rebates. Most of the items I buy require rebates and aside from this product I have never had an issue with rebates. After 3 months they sent an email saying that the rebate offers not submitted properly. I called their number and they said it's wrong number. I emailed them that I sent all the required receipts and docs and explained clearly. But there was no replay from them. I strongly suggest people not to buy this product. If you buy you will lose your money.

As a drive, it is average and works fine so far. As for promising rebates that apparently no one has gotten--totally unacceptable. ATTENTION: anyone who has been burned on their rebate submissions-- I am looking into initiating a class action lawsuit against VOX for their unethical business practices. Anyone interested should send me a brief description of their story (item purchased, date, name, address or email, etc.). I will compile these responses and take them to my lawyer. I suspect, since VOX hasn't stepped up to the plate and responded to anyone about these issues, that other damages may be pursuable as well. Ultimately, whether we get our rebate money or not, I would like to send a clear message that shady business practices will not be tolerated in this country and VOX needs to be held accountable. Usb connection is much faster than previous generations. Gvae yet to use the esata, seems complicated. Blue power light is ideal in the dark. Can be used as a tiny night light.

Failed after 3 months. For some reason, my PC couldn't detect the drive. Didn't want to send it in for repair, as the drive contained sensitive data. But had to. It's a great buy if you can get in on a rebate promotion, otherwise go with a better brand name to avoid incident.

I get the feeling,this drive will last years to come. The external chassis is made of a nice material that provides both protection for the drive and works as a heat sink to keep the drive cool without a fan. It has functioned as advertised. All the necessary cables and adapters were included to start backing up.Should of opted for more storage.I've already used up all 250.

Mine has been a bit noisy compared to my other Fantom drive. Although,a slight annoyance,I would still recommend this drive,simply because of the savings.

Has to be lightest enclosure I’ve seen. Small and quiet. After heavy researching, I found this drive was being offered at the best price with the killer rebate promotion. With Free-Shipping, I was sold.

At first everything seemed to be working just fine...about 3 months after purchase and sending in rebates, I get an email saying that the $70.00 rebate has been rejected due to lack of a receipt (which I had sent in). It seems that everybody else is having the same issue...right now I am getting an I/O device error and cannot access the data on the drive...*Do not buy from VOX* (ever)

The Vox drive is an ok external drive. I'm using it through a USB port, so it is slower than I want, but it does have an eSata set up for faster speeds. Once I update my motherboard, I expect everything else to pick up. Install and instructions are easy to use.<pr> <pr> My only complaint is the rebate process. I followed the rebate process to the letter (be sure to read the fine print as they want different pieces for each rebate). <pr> <pr> Dear Valued Customer,XXXXX <pr> We received your mail on 01/05/2008 and it has been disqualified because: <pr> 1. Missing reciept <pr> 2. Both rebate offers not submitted properly <pr> <pr> Company policy prohibits document resubmission. <pr> ================= <pr> <pr> Today is March 17th. It took them that long to send me a denial email. I made photocopies of everything sent to them, so I do expect this to be resolved quickly, but be wary when doing these rebates. I would not purchase this HDD again because of the rebate process.

As others have reviewed here - Stay away from VOX and get a recognized name brand. It was easy enough to get it going. After 10 days, when I had backed up all the files I needed a backup for, all of sudden I got this error message: "request cannot be performed because of I/O ....\" Emailed customer support, took 10 days for an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and shipped it back to CA. A month later it was sent back and now it wouldn't even turn on. Have sent 3 emails in the last ten days to the support desk, no replies.

Purchased the item because it was or rather should have been cheap after the rebates. Most of the items I buy require rebates and aside from this product I have never had an issue with rebates. However neither of my rebates were honored bringing the price way to high for such a small storage drive with a low rpm. As for the software don't even bother installing it. Not only is it not user friendly it doesn't work. Tested it out with one folder and it didn't transfer a little over a gig of it without even creating an error. E-mailed in Oct and still haven't heard back. Looked into it and it has issues with folders of large size. Had to write my own program. Would have been better off buying a case and good HD!!

I get error when I tried configuring it using my computer and laptop. I am not using it.. My rebates got denied because they claim that I have not sent the reciept. Overall experience is not good with VOX.

The HD is ok. It works well and connects seamlessly with the PC. However, VOX WILL NOT send you your Rebate money. I've been sending them emails on a daily basis to get a $70.00 rebate from months ago and they simply ignore my emails. I am contacting the BBB and it seems that many others have for the same reason.

The hardrive is good for its performance. It was quiet and easy to use. I also like its design, which makes it even cooler. However, you may never get back your rebate from VOX. It takes me 4 months to get a rebate rejection from them, saying I missed the receipt (I did the rebates for hundreds of times and I never missed the receipt). It looks like they just don't want to give you the rebate and just reject you for a random reason. They even don't allow you to resubmit the materials that you photocopied before. So, I suggest you forget about the rebate and just decide if you really want to pay for such a non-rebate price . If you want to try your luck on the rebate, go for that. You will never end up with the price that you think of.

I purchased this product over 3 months ago and never been able to get it to work. I've tried their tech support but it is non-existent (they don't respond) and the manual that came with it is so poorly written it is unintelligible. The driver that came with it was not usable. The rebate promised did not arrive. So overall this was a waste of good money.

Fired right up and was recognized right away; no configuration necessary. Drive is quiet, responsive and gave me no trouble. Came with this backup software which I have yet to use. I prefer using Windows Backup. I ordered two of these drives and successfully installed and configured both with no issues whatsoever. So far I'm very pleased with the operation.

Easy enough to use - if you can keep it powered up. There is a short in my power cable between the 3 prong at the outlet and the chunky adapter box on the cord AND the PS/2 plug that goes into the hard drive just falls out. Seriously - you have to practically hold it in while you are using the drive. Once I get all my files off it, it will be out the door. Waste of $$

This external hard drive will not work with my desktop nor with my laptop. This is the second hard drive from VOX that has not worked. Tech Support is very limited and takes days to return your call. My advice: go with a name brand that has a good reputation.

This product always disconnects when I try to transfer files. Often I cannot get it to connect in the first place. When I do get it to connect I get half way through a file transfer then it disconnects itself and I have to try again. Now I am stuck with files I do not want to lose on this external hard drive but no way of easily getting them off. I will not buy another product from vox.

Instructions are poorly translated and poorly printed; very difficult to read and follow along with the thought process used. Drive is very noisy - sits on the desk and vibrates. I've had to shut it down and only turn it on when I want to use the back up. A poor choice but as I said, it was cheap!

You plug it in, and it works. So simple even your technology-adverse grandparents can use it. We've back up our entire home network (5 laptops) to this drive. Very highly recommended!!

Did a complete Vista backup on 2 PC's. Works just as expected. Using USB connector is somewhat slow, SATA should be much faster.
