Why would anybody in their right mind pay 5 times the price of a 8GB USB stick for this (which is obviously larger that a USB stick)??? This is one time where bigger definitely does not mean better, or cheaper... Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Good Stuff, but it's chunky in size Monday, June 25, 2007 A Customer from Austin TX
- The USB drive is not meant to be carried around in pockets
- is a bit too big
- carrying it around in pocket probably cause it damage. which would cause blue screens. (It happened to me)
- other then that, I have no problems with it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice!!! Wednesday, June 13, 2007 A Customer from Garden Grove, CA
This product is great because you can carry a lot of information in a small device. I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. Bye Bye Flash Drive.... Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Product, Potentially 1-2 Year Lifespan Friday, June 08, 2007 A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Just bought another one of these 8GB for an outstanding !! promotional price here. This will be my 3rd one. I am an onsite computer repair tech. Bought my first 5GB when they were first announced nearly 3 years ago. It died about 1 month after warranty expired. Luckily it was just duplicate info. My employer reimbursed, bought a 5GB, and it died about 1 month after warranty expired, but I cracked it open, resoldered cable connector, and retrieved info. Gave drive to trainee. Now I bought this 8GB. Lessons learned: It a spinning HD, so susceptible to damage with minor drops/bangs that wouldnt harm a solid state thumb drive. And when you dangle its cable to connect, the cable can slowly start to pull out from it solder point on it board. Be careful, and know what to expect to maximize life. Design is first rate though... 5 of 5 Good amount of storage for the price.. Monday, May 14, 2007 Lacy from Indian Horbour Beach FL

5 of 5 Great product! Sunday, May 13, 2007 Kai from Hemet, California
It is an absolutely great device, it is very fast well. The software included with it for doing things such as removing it tends to lock up for me when removing the drive though. Other than that it's great, the "create secure partition" part is also very useful. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not a bad item. A stick would be a lot better. Sunday, May 13, 2007 A Customer from Boise Idaho
Not a bad little unit. 8GB is good to have around. It is just as the photo shows. The cable is a little short if your USB is in the middle of your computer like mine is. If your USB is on the bottom, then great. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Value Sunday, May 13, 2007 JRB from San Francisco, CA
Works right out of the box. Great value. A bit bulky, but still fits in one's pocket. Handy built in cable. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 My wonderful little SnailShell in its Altoids tin Saturday, May 12, 2007 Rev. Felix the Black Cat from Madison
This is a fantastic deal on a great little portable hard drive. I love this little thing! It has large capacity for a portable drive, and transfers to and from the drive are quick on the Windows XP systems I use it with most often. (I named mine "SnailShell," since it reminds me of a snail, plus I'm a they Might Be Giants fan, but don't let that fool you -- it's not slow like a snail!) I love the design, since you usually don't need to carry a separate USB extension cable, as with another portable HD I tried, as it's spooled inside the outer case. Plus, the drive fits in one of those round Altoids sours tins like they were made for that purpose, so I use one of those tins as a stylin' carrying case to protect my wonderful little drive from getting damaged. Install the great, free, open-source PortableApps on this drive (via portableapps.com), and you're ready to go (to libraries, internet cafes, or wherever you might use a public or hared computer), with your programs, documents, bookmarks, etc., going with you, without leaving your information behind on the host computer! So, don't hesitate -- snatch this up while you can at this price -- you WON'T be disappointed! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 very good for back-up and transfer files Saturday, May 12, 2007 Balaji from Bloomington, MN
This is a wonderful drive for data back-up and also for transfering files. Its small, portable and easy to use. 8GB is a lot of storage capacity for the money I paid. Overall a very good product. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 inexpensive for backup Saturday, May 12, 2007 dave from Minneapolis, MN
I've tried a number of 1" hard drives, and though this is not the fastest of them (in fact it's probably the slowest) it's still a great buy for the money. I've read a few reviews that say this drive quickly died but so far it is working perfectly. I would not use this drive regularly; it's too slow. I suggest using it solely as a backup drive. 4 of 5 Good product, OK price Saturday, May 12, 2007 Bob from Kouts, IN
With 120 gb drives the size of a pack of smokes going for 109 bucks these days, the price on this 8 gig unit wasn't that big a deal. My kids use the Seagate to transfer music, vids and pix and it is easy, extremely portable and seems to be holding up fine with lots of use. If it was 80 gig that would be a super buy! Seagate 8GB USB 2.0 Pocket External Hard Drive - ST68022U-RK
Was an awsome buy at 39.95. I use it constantly to move files and to store videos for my Avelink dvd player that reads external drives and plays most every file type.
Delivery was quick as always and the price can't be beat.

5 of 5 Great Document Backup Device Wednesday, April 25, 2007 MisterVic from Hampton Roads
I'm using this pocket drive to backup the My Documents folder from my work computer which allows me to work at home. It seems pretty solid since I dropped it and it's still working. It really isn't as large as the image makes it seem but is a bit bulky - I still can carry it in my front shirt or pants pocket. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Plug and Play Ready Wednesday, April 25, 2007 glenjwc23 from Forestville, MD
I use this drive to store my EQ5 quilt projects. I am no longer limited to 5 quilt tops per project. This drives will hold my largest (14 tops) project. It is very easy to use; just plug it into an available USB port, wait for your system to recognize it and you are ready to work. The flashing blue light lets you know it is reading or writing a file. It is small (about the size of small makeup compack)enough to fits into a blouse or slack pocket without bulging out. The tatter cable is 6 1/2 inches long, just enough to allow it to plug into the back of a laptop and not have the cable tangle with the mouse cable. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Seagate 8Gig USB Drive Wednesday, April 25, 2007 yrc007 from New York, NY

5 of 5 Nice Drive Overall Wednesday, April 25, 2007 Mike from Gap, PA
This is a nice little hard drive. Performs as expected. I really like how the silver outer shell rotates to reveal/hide/protect the USB cable. However, the USB cable is only about 6" long. This makes it difficult to do anything with the drive while you have it connected to the front/back of a PC - you pretty much have to let it hang there, which is no good for the connector. 5 of 5 great little drive Wednesday, April 25, 2007 Penny from Ohio
It is a nice size, and a seagate. easy to use so easy to use. Was this review helpful?

1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Great little hard disk Friday, April 20, 2007 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I used it in the office as personal storage space in the event that the department's system is temporally unavailable (I need to teach lectures using projector; normally, I can use the department's system to present the lectures, but once in a blue moon, I need to use my personal laptop). The drive is hanging off a Sun Micro workstation all the time and I use it to store a backup copy of my lecture notes (has lots of multimedia stuff). Drive is big enough to store everything I need to store and physically small enough to take it along. It does not need a power supply and draws enough juice from the USB interface; that means less clutter in the office and easier to use when I need to use it with the laptop. Writing speed is very good; almost as fast as an internal drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Perfect Portable Solution Wednesday, April 18, 2007 A Customer from Buena Park, California
It just works right out of the box. Works on MacOSX or PC and Vista.
Small and elegant "pocket puck". The flashing blue LED in the center lets you know its working.
Nice overall package. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great price; lots of disk capacity Tuesday, April 17, 2007 Kathy from Concord, CA
Can't beat this! A portable drive with plenty of storage capacity. It's bigger than a typical "flash" drive, but still small enough to fit in a pocket. Because of its size it's less likely to be misplaced or lost, and with a whopping 8 gigs of storage, there's plenty of room for your important files.
Love it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Storage / Transfer Tuesday, April 17, 2007 Sully from Chicago, IL
It's convenient and portable. Haven't had any problems moving data on and off it via USB 2.0. The 8 gigs means a LOT of room to transfer, especially at the price it was offered. Clever design with the USB plug integral - it retracts into the device when not in use. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Best Value per GB Tuesday, April 17, 2007 Athas from Philadelphia, PA
Very useful. I like the small cable. Small Form factor. Works exactly like a thumb drive. Only complaint, the new thumb drives are faster (probably significantly), but the price per gb on this drive can't be beat! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pocket Hard Drive Tuesday, April 17, 2007 A Customer from Duvall, WA
I have found the Seagate 8GB USB 2.0 Pocket External Hard Drive to be incredibly convenient to use and superior to flash drives I have used in the past. It is fast and large enough in capacity to hold complete software programs. The cost was unbelievably low, too.

5 of 5 Great backup and storage device Tuesday, April 17, 2007 Geoff from Port Orange, Florida
I have been using thumb drives for some time as temporary backup devices and for transporting files. I needed something with more storage capacity that was easy to transport and did not require external power. This device is really great.
Plugged into my XP-based laptop and was ready to use in a few seconds. No software needed to be loaded.
I particularly like the way that the USB plug and cable is secured within the device. Very handy.
Highly recommended. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 EXCELLENT DEVICE Tuesday, April 10, 2007 michael from Monticello, AR
We have thoroughly enjoyed loading up apps on this new drive. I've even loaded a bootable OS onto it and had great success using it that way despite the performance but DUH it's USB not SATA.
I've even dropped it a few times and it still works like a charm. (I don't recommend that. Just thought I'd throw it in there so you wouldn't be paranoid about dropping it.) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good little hocky puck Tuesday, April 10, 2007 A Customer from KC MO
I had the Seagate 6.0 GB version for about 2+ years now and had 0 problems after formatting the device out of the box. First time plugging in you may have to reboot an XP Pro SP2 machine, but that might just be me. But after that it looks just like a removable HD and is "fairly" speedy. This is a spinning hard drive with fancy tech. to keep it from being damaged when moving around. On my other Seagate drive I've wiped that thing around so much I'd figured by now it would have some bad sectors or errors, but it truly doesn't. I do recommend this to some one who wants to keep ISO files and patches for multiple OS's, thats what I use mine for primarily, never know when someone needs a reinstall.
Yes I do like this product, and do recommend this to any Tech. person. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 4 of 5 Seagate 8GB pocket drive. Wednesday, April 04, 2007 Nam Nguyen from La Grande OR
Bulky but surprisingly much lighter than I thought. For 7.4GB actual storage at $40 it's a steal. I like the rotating design, it looks really cool.
Dont drop it though!
It doesnt really look like something to wear around the neck like a normal flash drive, but still I would appreciate some tie. Was this review helpful?
