1 of 5 OK, but... Thursday, June 18, 2009
Albert from Mukilteo, WA

I bought this to replace an older RangeMax unit thinking that it might solve a problem I have with the dynamic DNS feature. I use the dyndns.com host for connecting to my security camera system (Q-See) and it will work for about three days before it mysteriously stops working, ie. enabling the dynamic DNS won't work anymore until you reset the router and it'll work again for a few days. It has been brought up at Netgear's forums, and so far, no one (users or tech support) has been able to solve that problem. I have been going back and forth with their online email tech support (all outsourced to India) and none of them are able to give me an adequate solution. I used to think Netgear was a good stable router brand, but I think I will move on to a different manufacturer. I think all the tech support people just follow an algorithm/protocol in trying to give suggestions, and really don't think the problem through themselves. For instance, they suggested that I use a different dynamic DNS host, but that unit only has dyndns.org listed as the only host supported! Yea right!

4 of 5 Your mileage will vary! Tuesday, May 12, 2009
bojangles from orange county
The range is good but it wasn't a huge improvement. i'm even using a Netgear wireless-n mimo rangemax adapter too but its no better than my previous linksys wireless-g setup. otherwise it works great, just dont expect an amazing leap in technology.

Carlton from Baltimore
I love this router. Easy to setup, only problem is I wish I got the V1 not V2 so I can install dd-wrt on it.

5 of 5 Great Deal Great Price Monday, April 27, 2009
Jepp from Denver, Colorado
This router was a great deal. Super easy to set up and works great. I was up and running in 5 minutes. I have always used Netgear routers and had no problems with them. This router also has lots of good features. Shipping was fast from Buy.com. I recommend buying one of these from Buy.com

5 of 5 One of the Latest & Greatest Speedy draft-N Wirele Saturday, April 25, 2009
Henry from Durham, NC
I just want to update my pleasant accounts with using this NETGEAR RangeMax NEXT draft-N wireless router. All manufacturers claims a theorectical max and market it that way; this NETGEAR's performance is not too far below that theorectical max... I've been getting about 130 Mbps using in relatively close proximity to the router, and at least 65 Mbps at a good distance away through many walls. I can totally feel the difference from using an older G wireless router. (in my last post, I was wrong by typing something like 78 Mbps as max speed, I'm really getting about 130 Mbps max.)

5 of 5 Easy to Setup Best Security WPA2-AES, Superior Ran Thursday, April 23, 2009
Henry from Durham, NC
Like any other pre-N wireless router claims 270 Mbps, it's theoretical max. that most people just won't get. I was consistently able to get over 78 Mbps at decent distance and 63 Mbps at a very far distance (outdoor through many walls in a 1400 sq. ft. house). e.g. I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider, after averaging many tests through different browsers, I get 8.9 to 9.7 Mbps download and ~369 Kbps upload through wireless, this is compared to their 7 Mbps download and 384 Kbps spec. So, I think my network is literally sucking up all the available bandwidth and exceeding the typical spec! I have no problem setting it up or detecting signals neither. All users with older laptops should keep in mind that they should update their wireless adapter card driver to have WPA2 enabled. This NETGEAR pre-N wireless router does support it with no problems.

5 of 5 Design and Technology Thursday, August 07, 2008
pwahle from Toronto, Ontario
Very pleased with this router. Setup required a couple of hours due to my DSL modem touchy behaviour. Very stable and powerful. Installed on the 3rd floor of my home, the router sends a powerful signal that I have been able to use with my Macbook while I was visiting a friend 400 feet away from my house. Better router than my previous Airport Express and much cheaper.

1 of 5 the wireless network keeps breaking, ordinary rang Sunday, July 06, 2008
prakash from Des Plaines, IL
Though the router is called RANGE MAX, I found the range pretty ordinary. First of all the Router was shipped without the installation CD. Netgear website doesn't provide the driver for download. And now in less than a month's time since the router was bought the network keeps dropping every 5 mins.... Horrible experience with Netgear!!!!

4 of 5 Wireless N Router Sunday, July 06, 2008
A Customer from Hot Springs, AR
I bought this router to replace one that had been "fried" by lightning. I installed the router, and had no problem setting up the WEP password. After about 10 minutes the power supply that came with the router quit, so I plugged in the one from my old router and voila, it's worked ever since. Great range, no dropped signal from using a wireless phone, good deal!

5 of 5 Netgear Makes Sensible Routers! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
SMR from Springfield, PA
For some reason, Netgear equipment seems to take alot of licks, I am not sure why, but I have bought nothing but Netgear routers and switches for the past 5 years - with zero problems with any of it. I recommend to my friends and I am not a fan of Linksys products. The looks of this router are hard to beat and the product is very well made. The vertical configuration is a big plus to me as I slide into a slim space behind my TV and it's out of site. Runs for days and days without need to reset. Very easy to setup and configure, has the right functionality as a router with decent, but not outstanding range. Good enough for my house. No problems connection and holding a connection to both Dell and Apple laptops. Did have a problem with 802.11n Dell card - but I suspect it was the Dell card, not the router. Soon as I went back to 802.11g card on the Dell, it connects and holds every time. Netgear tends to update their firmware enough to make me happy, tech support is probably the same as for most similar products. I ignore tech support as I can solve most of the issues myself using the internet and my own "geek" expertise.

3 of 5 Style over substance Monday, March 12, 2007
A Customer from Northbrook, IL
I purchased this router because I had been pleased with the parental controls with a Netgear wired router I had purchased a few years ago. Unfortunately, many of these features simply don't work as advertised with this router. I have no compliants about the wireless range but Netgear appears to have all but abandoned the firmware/software side of the equation. They didn't even bother to come out with updated firmware to address the change in Daylight Savings Time so I have to spoof the router with a false timezone.
