Brother P-Touch PT-1280 Label Maker

Great label maker for the price. I paid sale price for it, but the value is much greater. It works like a charm, but it only comes with a short supply of labeling tape so be prepared to buy more right away. Make sure you read and understand the directions before you try to label anything. It does have it's tricks to operate it. All and all it is well worth the cost for home use and this one only uses 9/16", 1/4", 1/2" tape so make sure you don't need anything larger than that.

Pro: At $12, the machine seems to be a great deal. Have a lot of functions (perhaps I have not figured them out so they seem useless at the moment). O, free and fast shipping is always good. Con: Buttons are stiff, hard to press. Everytime you use the clear function to delete entire line of text, it clears the settings (font size, frame, etc) as well so you have to from scratch. The physicial size of the machine makes it hard for small hands to hold it and type with thumb at the same time.

This label maker is super easy to use and comes with a label cartridge to get you started. I have labeled things already and it just arrived this morning. It takes 6 AAA batteries to get you started. This unit has too many options for me but I couldn't pass up the great $11.99 price. You can print with a cute candy wrapper border, in bold, or italicized, or shadowed or underlined with a border...

I've been wanting a labelmaker for some time. This was a really good buy, and it has many functions I haven't even tried yet. It's very easy to use--I'm not a geek, but the instructions are very clear. It comes with a sample cartridge. Not sure how much tape in it, but I have made a LOT of labels and haven't used it up. I got some spare cartridges at Sam's Club. There are a lot of different cartridges out there for specialty uses that this machine can use. I htink it is a great machine with a lot of capabilities that I'm truly goiong to enjoy. It came quickly and is a really good buy.

I had to set up files for a business. The labeler has made setting up the files extremely easy. I use it to label everything in my home office. It is more convenient to use the labeler than to type the labels on the computer because I can type one label or a number of labels without the hassel of running a sheet of labels through the printer. I paid an unbelievably low price for the label maker so I have no problem with the price of the labels.

We haven't quite gotten into all the functions as said. But it's pretty handy for making labels. I'd wish that it doesn't waste so much tape on the two ends. Seems like a well-made product. Fast shipping from the company.

I HAVE USED THIS LABLE MAKER FOR MANY USES. IT IS A GREAT LITTLE ITEM TO HAVE FOR MULTIPLE USES. I'VE PUT LABLES ON CANISTERS, DRAWERS, REMINDER ON MICRO DOOR TO NOT SLAM IT =) AND A NUMBER OF THINGS. VERY EASY TO USE! ONE DRAWBACK IS I CAN'T FIND THE CARTRIDGES AT OUR LOCAL DEPARTMENT STORE. I HAVE TO BUY THEM ONLINE. ANOTHER IS, I FEEL IT USES/WASTES TOO MUCH TAPE BEFORE AND AFTER THE WORDS YOU TYPE. I USUALLY CUT OFF AROUND 1/4"-1/3" ON EACH END. YOU NEED 6 AAA BATTERIES.

The Brothers P-Touch PT-1280 Label Maker I purchased is easy to use for all my labeling needa. It is great for putting names on my baseball cases for my signed baseballs. Also the price was great.

Great little gizmo to print labels for virtually anything you want. Definitely get this type which uses the "TZ" type. There are a variety of sizes, colors, styles of tapes when you get the "TZ" printers. I ordered two of these machines when they were on sale for less than the price when not on sale and that is without any shipping charges!!!! Unbelievable. Way to go BUY.COM!!! Get one now or when they go on sale. Don't forget some batteries.

super easy to use and switching out the label packs for different colors is easy too. Have used it to label everything from tupperware to our wii remotes. Bought it b/c I couldn't resist the deal on this at the time and have been wanting to reorganize my spice cabinet but now i'm looking around to see what else i can label. Didn't get the adapter but we use rechargeable batteries so it's not like we have to buy new ones. I did the free shipping option and it came sooner than i thought it would. Glad I bought it.

It was super easy to figure out how to work it. The tape is intuitive in its design for installation. One just needs 6AAA batteries. There is no power adapter with it, and if you want to purchase it, it will cost more than the machine--at 9.99 anyway. I suggest getting a universal adapter if needed. As to getting labels, turn-on; type; push print, and then the cut button. You lose lead tape though. So if you are making a number of labels, do it without cutting, and then use scissors. Also, I found refills for about $10 each at Costco--pack of 4.

Love it! Love it! Love it! I used my sister's labeler 2 years ago and the labels are still easy to read on my cell phone and camera! After using hers, I decided to look for one for me. I priced the labeler through different places and they were too pricey (up to $60!)... Then I found your web site! WHAT A STEAL! I now realize why the label maker itself was such a buy. The adapter and the tapes are very expensive! I won't use it as much as I might have if the tapes were more reasonable. I didn't realize that one needed a special adapter to use it and that cost doubles what the label maker cost.

This label printer is a great value if it is on sale. It performs its function of creating labels flawlessly. The keyboard is easy to type in and the three memory buttons are useful for storing commonly used labels. Read the instruction well to twist all the settings for maximum benefit. I found that a narrow edge setting will save some tape, at least on one side of the label. Charger is not included, but the six AAA batteries appear to last for a long while if is turned off after each use. I found out that my spare chargers from other devices won't work even if the plug is of right size and the voltage is matching - I guess this leaves with the only choice of buying their specific charger if you need it. One thing that needs to be point out is that this printer is of relatively large size.

I've been looking for a label maker for a long time and when this one came along for $10.65 I couldn't pass it up. So far he unit has performed great. My only wish is that it came with an a/c adapter.

Fast delivery, great product, great value. Paid only about $11 with free shipping and bought two of them. The only high cost would be replacement tape cartridges. The product came with easy to understand instructions and printed clear labels. However, this machine uses 6 AAA batteries and there is an option to buy an AC adaptor.

Fast shipping, well built device. Great inexpensive device. Only con, did not come with batteries (required 6 AAA), and only came with sample tape. Refill will cost you another 15 bucks or less.

I've been looking for a Brother labeler like this for about 6 months. I did not purchase because I thought even the sale prices were a bit high. Saw it as a special priced item and couldn't resist ordering. Ordered it in the morning around 11:00 a.m. and it was on my door step 10:30 the next morning. All e-mail documentation was timely, complete, excellent. Wonderful machine, does exactly what I need it to do. I'd recommend it to anyone. Couldn't happier! P.S. Tape costs could be a little less expensive.

I bought the Brother label maker without having any clear cut reason to own it, but the price was too good to pass up. Since getting it, we've found several ways to put it to use, including updating out filing system header labels. I'd be hard pressed to be without it now!

I bought this to label medical charts. The price was great for the features offered. Many styles of tape are available and the most important to me was the fact that you could get 'laminated' tape. Since the charts take a lot of abuse, this is perfect. Other systems utilize a separate label maker/laminated tapes to place over the tab. Not cost effective and time consuming. This little label maker has memory options to save often used words/names, different fonts/sizes, etc. A lot of functions for the money and the best being ease of use and many different styles of tapes.

This is a more advanced unit than you can find in Staples. More options for tapes (like white on clear or black) which you can't get in the store. And, this is less than 1/2 the price of lesser units. Buy.com .. prompt delivery. Seem like good folks.

Excellent product and a great value. I was hesitant to use it much as the retail price on tapes is quite high. I had to look around for reasonably priced tapes, but they are out there - usually around $12 (some for less).

I've owned a couple different brands and they fail in a short time. This model and its functions are superior to my previous brands. So far, I really like it. It didn't come with an AC adapter, but the price one cannot complain. BTW, you can buy tape a lot cheaper elsewhere...shop around. —RARE

The thing works great. There is only some sample tape included, and no power supply, but a great value on an effective labeler. I got it on a special so it was dirt cheap also.

This printer was at a great price, I had looked around and it cost much more on other sites. I to wished it came with a AC power adapter( $19.00), but for the price I used 6 AAA batteries, and it came with a starter tape. Overall very satisfied.

Only give 4 starts because no AC adapter come with it. However, you can buy a universal adapter at Target for less than $20 , can use it pretty much with everything. Tape a little expensive in my opinion, and I agree with wasting tape at beginning and the end. I have a list of all lables I want to make then do it once. Also, I only make labels when I need it not just because... Overall, I am happy with it so far. Got mine less than $12 with buy.com special deal, can't beat that price.

Bought 10 of these for Christmas gifts when they were one of the special deals of the day at a little over $10 each. I opened ours when the box arrived and it was easy to insert the included cartridge and 6 AAA batteries (not included) to get it up and running. The margins are very wide if you don't adjust them, but changing to narrow is very easy and gives you guide dots to cut off the other end that can't be changed. The kids and I have had a lot of fun looking for things to label. We've made labels for school supplies, sports equipment, and I'll be using it to label items I'll be selling at a Bazaar. You can get refills of the black on white (TZ-231) and black on clear (TZ-131) 1/2" tape on Amazon for less than $12. Haven't found the necessity to order the AC adapter (AD-24) that's also not included, since it costs more than I paid for the unit itself, but it's available from Amazon as well.

The price for the label maker is great but the tape cartridges are pricey compared to the cost of the printer. It is easy to use.

I thought I would try the P-Touch PT-1280 due to the low price, and I have been more than satisfied with the product. You don't think just how many item could use a label, and now without having to keep reentering the same page of labels to print one or two at time, it really has start to make a difference. I would recommend this item to small offices, homes, and hobbyists.
