4 of 5 Solid B, Maybe a B+ Monday, January 21, 2008
A Customer from Seattle, WA

The iP4200 is the easiest printer I've owned for changing ink. However, the ink cartridges don't seem to hold much ink and it does seem to go through the ink very quickly. While the cost of this printer was low, Canon "makes up" for that by getting you on the back side (i.e., INK purchases). Photo printing is good. The feeder mechanism is poor. It makes a lot of noise and crunching sounds as it exchanges 8.5x11 feed for 4x6 photo feed. I keep waiting for it to break.... so far it hasn't. The software is a bit annoying. Too much information (warnings for ink levels ALL THE TIME). When I bought a new computer, I did NOT reinstall the HP software. I just let the OS load the drivers. Overall, it is an OK printer. For the price, it is definitely worth it. Easy to use. Decent photo quality and printing speed.

5 of 5 Why Buy more expensive? Friday, June 02, 2006
jstevens2000 from fort worth texas
This is the one. Do not spend another penny over 100 bucks! the printer does all and i was a die hard hp fan. the photos are lifelike and the text is clear. the only down side is paper loader at top does not always wanna work with you! just keep it in the tray and you will be fine. buy.com had it for 75 bucks at one time so that was the bargain.

5 of 5 The Ip4200 Pixma printer Sunday, April 16, 2006
Marggenesc from Santee, SC
I finished setting the printer up and was pleased with the ease of doing so. Even with a slow cable (USB PORT) it printed a page 4x faster than my Lexmark X83. Photo prints are super quality. I REALLY LIKE THIS PRINTER. Gene Guthan Santee, SC

5 of 5 speed, quality and .. black out Monday, April 03, 2006
mitch from ny, ny
love the quality and speed of the printer -- colors are brilliant, machine is quite and smooth, even in printing high volume. agree with the gent from louisiana that test documents are erratic... found the black ink exhaust faster than i'd like. nonetheless, an overall excellent machine

5 of 5 A Real Printer Thursday, February 23, 2006
A Customer from West Lafayette, IN
As soon as I picked up the package I said to myself,"This printer has some guts!" It's a bit chunky on the weight, which I figure means it has some better quality insides. So far, the print jobs have been crisp and clear and I am totally satisfied. I haven't put it to the ultimate test yet with photo paper, but what pictures and print I have done are top quality. The qualities I most like are: separate ink cartages and the prices of them, ability to close the printer up and keep out dust, and simplicity to set it up and use it. So far is an excellent printer for a good price.

5 of 5 IP4200 Friday, January 27, 2006
A Customer from Sussex, New Jersey
Did some reseach on photo quality printers and decided to try the Cannon. Have used Epson, and HP before and never new that it could be this good. The Cannon IP4200 is head and shoulders above the other brands. Fast wounderful printing results and the ink cartridges last longer.

5 of 5 Excellent Canon Photo Printer Friday, November 11, 2005
AC from Vancouver, WA
I've had my printer now for a week. And it's been absolutley the best printer I have ever owned. The price is fantastic. I've always owned Hp printers and I was skeptical of going to another brand. After researching all over the internet (i.e. PC World, PC Magazine...etc.) The expert reviews convinced me to give this Canon iP4200 a try. I'm really surprised that it's better than what the expert reviewers wrote about this printer. It's fast, the ink is inexpensive, the set up is breeze, the software is better than what you get with Hp printers. I'm not sure why some people had wrote that it's noisy, it's not noisy, especially for the speed that it prints out pages and pictures. And the pictures are of excellent quality using Canon paper. I recommend this printer to anyone on a budget and looking for an excellent photo and every day use printer.

5 of 5 Outstanding Monday, November 07, 2005
Oula from Rochester, NY
It's amazing what you can get for $110. Actually it's down to $100 now. I just had my family Disney vacation pictures printed out and they're perfect. I also had some printed out at Disney at the Kodak kiosk before returning home, and they don't compare to the Canon IP4200 quality (I don't know what printers are used at the kiosks).

5 of 5 Fast printing text isn't as good as on other print Thursday, October 06, 2005
jtay025 from Ruston, LA
One would expect better quality to take longer, and this printer takes the cake and then some on quality at the best setting for anything you print out with quality near rivaling that of the fancy canon wide carriage 9900. However, if I want a text printout _fast_, on the lower(Faster) settings, the printer prints out text that is downright embarassing; the text isn't black anymore, but light shades of grey, as you increase quality, and printtime, it does reach acceptable and better blacks. I complain only of this because the 2 year old printer this one replaced, the HP 3820, even on fast settings produced jet black prints ASAP. When you buy this, remember that you are buying one super photo printer, and not something designed to turn out 29 pages per minute. (Unless the settings aren't using the pigment cartridge for some reason..) Other than that detail, this printer more than exceeds my needs. I love the 2 print trays and the duplexing.

5 of 5 Worthy successor to iP4000 Thursday, September 29, 2005
A Customer from Roanoke, VA
We bought an iP4000 last year for our daughter. I loved the printer, especially the photo quality. Based on my good experience with the iP4000, I just bought the ip4200 for myself. Works great. Photos still look great too. Ink cartridges will be a bit more expensive but I think it is worth it for the improved print life.
