3 of 5 Major set back for me Sunday, January 22, 2006
micky1701 from old bridge, nj

Price is good - easy to setup - recording quality is good - My issue is that I can not watch another pre-recorded program from the HDD if I am in the process of recording another show - I am limited to watching the show being recorded until it ends. Not much fun for me. If this does not bother you then purchase this unit

5 of 5 LiteOn LVW-5045 Monday, November 28, 2005
honesty911 from Jax, FLa
I Love this item.... It works great, and It does even more than I thought it could. It is so easy to use, just like a vcr. I have had no trouble using verbatium dvd's with this unit, dvd-r, dvd+r, and the rw's. I love this cause you can record programs on the hard drive, and can go in, and rename them so you know exactly what you have on the drive, not to mention that shows you don't want to keep, you can delete them, and you can protect the ones you want to keep by using the protect feature... I am very satisfied with this unit especially for the price. You can't beat it.

5 of 5 Better Than Expected... Sunday, October 02, 2005
HP from Charlotte, NC
I recently bought this unit after doing some research and looking for a DVR to transfer my home video tapes over to DVD. I have a 40GB TiVo hard drive recorder, but we found that we used up a lot of the disk space with t.v. recordings and movies that we wanted to keep. I had transferred some of these over to a VCR (video tape recorder)...but the quality just wasn't great...and I knew the tapes wouldn't last foreever! With the 160GB hard drive and DVD burn capability of the LVW-5045, this unit has fulfilled all of my needs. I've only had the unit a couple of weeks, but have now transferred all of my TiVo recordings over to DVD disks, and now beginning to transfer our many home video tapes over. These tapes are about 12 years old now, and still of great quality, but I knew that they wouldn't last foreever. Most of these are family videos taken over the past 12 years. We wanted to preserve these, but I had not noticed that the price of DVD recorders had dropped so much. I'd recommend this unit to anyone because it's easy to operate and has great capability with the 160GD drive. So far, I've transferred everything over to the HDD, then burned DVD's from the hard drive. So, in effect, I have two copies of everything now: DVD and HDD. This is my first purchase from Buy.com and I have been totally pleased and impressed with their: Prices, Order communication, and quick delivery. I will continue to shop with these folks for my future needs!

5 of 5 Good Value and Low Cost Thursday, August 25, 2005
A Customer from Lebanon Oregon
I have made over fifty DVDs of TV programs and transferred half my old Hi8 VCR tapes to DVD using the LiteOn 5045 and that was in the first month. The quality of the recordings are superb. Once you get the hang of the remote it is a breeze to use. I think this guy is worth every penny I spent. It will record on + or - DVDs. They include a list of recommended Blank Disks to use and I would concur that you should use a good quality Disk if you expect good results. 5 of 5 Great DVR and DVD Burner Thursday, August 18, 2005
John from Buffalo Grove IL
This is a great product for the price. It allows you to record TV to the hard drive by VCR+ number or setting the date/time directly. It copies from hard drive to DVD quickly and easily. Other products may offer an onscreen TV guide, but they are also much more expensive or charge a monthly fee. If you are looking for something comparable to Tivo (but without monhtly fees) and DVD burning capability, this product is for you. One recommendation, however, is to update the firmware from the manufacturer's website to insure optimal performance. http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/download.htm

5 of 5 Easy to use, high quality DVD Recorder Friday, April 22, 2005
A Customer from Appleton, WI
I'm not much for words, but this recorder is fantastic. It has a 160G hard drive that makes it so easy to edit home movies before burning to a DVD. All the things the desciption of this product talks about is REAL. The "GUIDER" feature is great. Even I was able to figure it out. The price is also great. The "other" brands that have hard drives are in the $600+ range, and they forget to put the I-Link connection.
