This scanner is offered at a great price. It is best used for photos with the accompanying software. Use as a simple "copier" for documents is not straightforward and requires some sleuthing. Full documentation is 144 pages long and is rather wordy. A shorter version is available and is helpful. The quality of the scan is very high. The buying process was easy and delivery of the product occurred on time. An excellent buying experience.

This scanner is such a good value! The features rock. It is mind bogglingly easy to set up and use, and you get AWESOME results. The scans are true to the source, and quite fast. The amount of time of course depends on your resolution, CPU, etc.
Digital ICE takes this scanner from very good to unbelievable. With a couple of clicks (one to change to advanced interface, and one to click the digital ICE checkbox) you can remove dust, scratches, and even tears from an old picture. This technology requires two scans with two different lamps, and it takes a long time to complete both scans. However, the final result will save hours of editing in Photoshop or a similar post-scan image editing package to accomplish the same fixes. The two-lamp scans let the scanner tell the difference between a physical scratch, and a fine line in the picture and leave the former alone!
The conclusion: This scanner has the resolution and technology to be my scanner of choice for a long time to come.
