J&D's Original Bacon Salt-2 Pack

I like it, somewhat expensive as salt goes, but I like the flavor, it has a Bacon flavor but not overpowering, gives a nice taste to foods.

I was intrigued by this product when it appeared in the Weekly Deals, so I checked out some reviews and the Bacon Salt website and placed my order. I first used it on a grilled burger, but the bacon flavor wasn't easily detected. I then used it in a shrimp salad which turned out good. It gave it a nice smokey flavor, however again, I didn't really detect the bacon. I think this product is a flavorful seasoning and I will continue to use it until it's gone, but its not very bacony....how about Smoke Salt?

I bought one container of this at BigLots, then went back and bought 4 more around March 09. I use it as a table seasoning, and my biggest problem with it is it is a little too peppery for adding a hint of "bacon"-with-salt flavoring to some foods. I have happily used it on eggs, french fries, porkrinds, salads, and etc with satisfaction. It is not an intense bacon flavor by itself: get Bacos for that in a seasoning and add salt separately. (But you'll never get the Bacos to stick to french fries. ;~) )

I found this product on the internet and proceeded to check out all the reviews I could find, and thought I was safe to buy and try it. NO NO NO!! Okay.... so on with the review: First of all, notice the first four ingredients-- Sea salt, Garlic, Paprika, Onion. Not a mention of bacon, and then the "Natural Hickory smoke flavoring" (that might possibly make it taste like bacon, if there were more of it!) is waaaay down the line, along with a lot of other junk additives. DON'T waste your money on this thinking you will have the taste bacon on your food. It is strictly a VERY salty, garlic/onion/paprika flavored seasoning that is like all the barbecue seasonings you already have on your shelf. In addition, the paprika content stained the white plastic bowl which contained the food I was trying it on a bright orange that cannot be removed. The holes in the shaker top are so big that you have no control, and my food was absolutely "drowned" !! If you STILL want to try it, :-(.....but don't want to wait for the mail to deliver, check your local grocery...a lot of supermarkets sell it.

Vegetarian? Low sodium? Kosher? Please do not support this crime against nature and your taste buds. I bought some and it is actually kinda decent but I'm still outraged. We should at least force them to rename it something like Baykon Sahlt.
