2 of 5 average at best Wednesday, October 28, 2009
A Customer from Tucson, AZ

the touch screen is garbage. I can't toggle the buttons without applying way more pressure that should be necessary. The battery doesn't last long on standby at all. It looks like a little iTouch, but looks can be deceiving.

4 of 5 Technical Service is very good Thursday, June 25, 2009
A Customer from DeKalb, IL
I wrote a bad review for the product two days ago, but I have to take back some of what I said. I called the techical service at 580-272-0035 and immediately got a very knowledgeable person. He told me that I needed a firmware update and sent me two zip files. He guided me through the update process, and the device now is working! But after you update the firmware, the device comes on in a blue screen, you need to touch the cross on the top left, top right and lower left (the cross moves once you touch it) to calibrate the device. I have to give a thumb-up for their technical service. I called it three times, each time the waiting time is just a couple of minutes, compared to other companies' 30 minutes or more that I have experienced. They could put the firmware update together with an instruction on the web, this can save them a lot of time.

2 of 5 Battery only last 2 hours being idle Wednesday, June 17, 2009
A Customer from san jose, ca
I bought several units for my wife and kids. Even though I agree that this thing has more bang for the bucks in term of feature set it is not worth it because the first unit I opened and testing ran empty only after 2 hours from fully charge. what good are all the features if it does not last long enough for you to use it before running to wall socket. Beside that I have issue with: 1/ Calibration did not work well for me. 2/ There is no way to end a song being play other than pausing it. that is extent of my testing so far. Turned off by battery performance. I am returning all the units.

1 of 5 Sometimes bad is bad Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Rob from Sacramento, Ca
For the price, you would be willing to put up with a lot of problems. First, the directions are useless. Second, the operating system does not pickup the tags if you organize your music in sub-directories from c:/audio. You could individually add them, but with a few hundred songs, it was not realistic. Third, The artists are grouped together via the ID3 tags. Unfortunately, I had nothing but problems. Windows Media center saw the tags, but in many instances, the Eclipse did not. Other times, it saw it, but placed it under "OTHER" as an artist. I spent way too much time messing with the tags. Fourth, The more songs I put on the drive, the slower the response from the unit. Five, the unit continually locked up requiring a reset. It got to the point that even the reset button failed to clear the unit. I was on the phone with tech support three times and emailed back and fourth multiple times. After a while, it became evident it was time to punt and I sent the unit back.

5 of 5 Mach speed Eclipse mp3/mp4 player Tuesday, June 09, 2009
A Customer from West New York, NJ
Great product, out of the box you must calibrate unit. At first the touch screen wasn't responding to touch at upper left and lower right corners, but after I calibrated it all worked flawless. I would recommend the product. Video, pics were clear, radio station not fully clear sounding,a bit of static, couldn't get stations on the channels that correspond. On the sample video I wasn't able to view it horizontally. Haven't tried transferring any of my own. All in all it's a good bang for the buck.

4 of 5 I like this one Thursday, June 04, 2009
Sara Popr from Nampa, ID
I calibrated the touch screen immediately, and a light touch works for me on the most general basis. The calibration took a few tries to get right, with two resets. All in all, I am loving this thing. It plays incredibly clear video, the audio is loud and clear, and it has good capacity. I just wanted it mostly to put the avi files on. I am good at file conversion, and I had to change divx to xvid and the size of the avi video for it to work, no problem, quite worth it. This is a good media player and worth the money spent. I guess I could use the converter software that came with it, and I probably will eventually.

5 of 5 Does more than what I expected Tuesday, June 02, 2009
Mothi from Houston, Texas
Excellent device for 60$$. It has everything except the wifi The only thing that was not too great was the touch screen response. I had to tap hard. But for $60 not much to complain

1 of 5 OK Tuesday, June 02, 2009
turbotong from TX
====Good==== - Price - it costs $65 for 8GB player + camera. Decent USB sticks sell for just under $10/GB. - Also, it works. - It was nice that they included 3 click buttons on the bottom of the player, which you can use to do just about everything in case the touchpad sucks (and it does). - Speed - (Before I loaded songs in) The screen has a response speed faster than I expected for this price. I would say good response time. - Photos - As expected. Comes with some decent sample pictures and 1 low resolution advertisement that you cannot read. The photos are displayed at the advertised resolution and can be rotated to fit the screen. ====Bad==== - Touchscreen - not very accurate. Rather hard to use. - Earphones - you got this for $65. What do you expect? Trash. Switching to some headphones, I tried out music quality. The sound is passable, no complaints. However, there is a fair amount of static. Changing to a different pair of earphones didn't help either. - Volume - It is hard to adjust volume. There is no side volume button. You have to go into the menu when the song is currently playing and then hit the tiny volume icon (which is hard) and then you have 2 seconds to adjust the sliding bar on the bottom. If you are not fast enough, it turns back into the current track progress bar and you will jump around in your song. Fairly retarded if you ask me. Oh, and the volume/progress bar is located at the very bottom of the screen where it is rather difficult to touch, esp. if you have larger fingers. - Video - The player comes loaded with a trailer of the Incredibles with the "coming 11*5*2004" shown (This review written 6*2*2009). The video started halfway through, it ran into a "Hint: video file format error" and stopped playing the trailer. - Date - Yes, this came with a calendar. Why it defaulted to 2077/11/12 I will never know. The calendar has an UGLY green grass background which I don't know how to change. The mini-SD card slot cover is cheap, light rubber which was not properly cut by the machine. I clicked "calibrate" to see what it does and I got a blue screen of death with a square in the top left corner. It won't turn off. wtf. ====edit==== OK, i figured out wth to do with the calibrate. You have to tap the box and then it moves around and u have to keep tapping it. ====More playing around with it=== - I discovered that anytime a dialogue box pops up, it is labeled "HINT". For example, going to settings --> Memory info , a "HINT" box pops up saying how much memory you have left. - Under their tools menu, you can access the PC camera. I presume you have to install their software to use it and have it hooked up to the computer. I did neither one. Guess what happened. Nope, I didn't get a hint box. I got: "SUCCESS! PC camera mode! Please insert the USB cable to use!" Epic fail. - Voice Recorder - It works. It picks up sound like a low quality microphone, and you can understand speech when it is played back. However, there is LOTS of static in the background. - Design - This was clearly designed with cheap parts and foreign programmers who spoke cheap foreign Ing-er-lish and did most likely had the word "Info" translated into "Hint" from their native language using an online dictionary. The device is actually quite light (lighter than several other mp3 non-touchscreen players I've had). - I have not yet tested playlist ability or equalizer function. 4 of 5 Great Toy for the price! Tuesday, June 02, 2009
MC from Herndon, VA
The touch pad works fine with mine. I have transfered some AVI files and MP3 files, and enjoying this. I bought this for my 10 year son's gift. It is affordable and fun toy with a lot of functions. I may buy one for myself so that I can use this at the gym.

5 of 5 Nice player!!! Tuesday, June 02, 2009
Lizzi K. from Winston-Salem, NC
I love my new toy. It's so easy to use even for someone not so technical! It has plenty of room for all of my videos and pics! I travel a lot, so I'll play with it when I fly instead of running out the battery on my phone. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to spend a bunch of money, but still get a good deal!

4 of 5 Not bad for the money Monday, June 01, 2009
A Customer from Cincinnati, OH
I won't claim that is the best device ever, but I think for the money it is one of the best values out there today. I wasn't looking to buy an expensive device to begin with, so I'm fairly happy with the price and the performance has been as expected.

5 of 5 Not an Ipod but well worth the money Monday, June 01, 2009
Mike from Thousand Oaks, CA
Bought mine last week and I am loving it. It plays my music well, and I like the video quality. The camera is a nice feature. I did not have any troubles with the touch screen and I was able to calibrate it without a problem. I wonder if the other reviewer has calibrated it? This is not an Ipod Touh or something that is $300, but it is well worth the money I paid. Great job Buy.com! I plan to buy antoher one for my Nephews Graduation.

2 of 5 a 50/50 bet Sunday, May 31, 2009
Dagger from USA
I bought two for my niece/nephew. one is already locked up and doesn't respond. the other one is working for now. very lightweight feeling (plastic toy-like). transferring songs requires windows media player. took 25 minutes to transfer 320+ songs. organization of songs on player is kind of arbitrary. video capture ok. video playback is good, however navigation while viewing video is strangely lacking. sound quality thru built in speaker is ok, not great. earbuds included were clear and loud. touch screen navigation between applications is slow but what do you expect. if this were my only media player I'd throw it out, but for my 10 yr old niece/nephew, it's ok for the price. i'm sure it will function for just a couple of months.
