Roxio Creator 2009 Ultimate DVD - 242300FM

I have been purchasing every version since Easy CD Creator 3. This is the worst. I loved almost all versions and 10 was great. In this version, everything I have tried, if it is changed, is for the worse. For instance, you could set up to record a batch of audio cd's in 10, but the music cd program in this version makes 1 cd at a time, too much extra work. Save your money and find a copy of version 10 if you want a good working product. Buy.com still sells it, so enough said.

Although I have used Roxio products for years, and loved them, I wouldn't recommend this program to my worst enemy. First, the boxed program I bought wouldn't install. Several pros tried to get it on my machine, and all were unsuccessful. I noticed in one forum over 4000 people have had the same problem. One posted a "work around" which involved changing registry files, but even that didn't work for me. Fortunately, the retailer, Fry's Electronics, took it back for me. Since Creator 2009 had some features I really wanted a tried downloading the trial version. This time it installed, but every time I used the program hung up and I was unable to create even a very simple DVD. I ended up deleting it. I was putting this on a brand new computer with 8 gig of Ram so I don't think the hardware was the problem. Of course, Roxio customer service is virtually non-existant so they were no help. If you spend money on this you do it your own risk.

Not the easiest software to operate. However once learned it does what it says. I'm very happy with software now that I'M up to speed with it

I thought the price was based on having a video adaptor but it after closer inspection I see that the BD plugin, SoundSoap, SonicFire are also included. These don't seem to be included in the regular roxio 2009 box. The video digital conversions is pared down in this box. It only takes a few steps. It's also wise to have SoundSoap which has a number of ways to clear up bad sound. There is a lot of music creation choices too.

The price seemed okay but then I saw there is a video converter and bluray plugin. I needed the plugin anyway and comparable sets didn't seem to have as many programs. The gamble was whether or not the programs were good. For the most part I think they are. cinemagic is good at making video chapters and letting me finish projects fast. The set music tracks are plentiful so I can either choose or even alter them to use in projects. Videowave is a bit difficult so far but there are tutorials to help. It isn't something though I could just pick up like Cinemagic.

Most converters have video software but I didn't see any big media suite in other packs like this one. The video converter is handy. I use it for my vhs tapes and some audio tapes. I want to get everything digital so this is the package to do it. The converter works fine and is nothing special. The programs though have more than expected features. It edits fine but it also has a HD backup which will work even if the drive crashes. It's a good way to start backups. There is a desktop widget to send files to portable players like my ipod. The burning software has dual layer, HD and BD formats, dvd-vcr. I'm not even counting the music and photo project programs.
