5 of 5 Works fine with Mac too Tuesday, May 26, 2009 HB from Philadelphia, PA
Just installed one on a Mac Mini, older 1.6 mhz single core Intel model. Works perfectly, a complete plug and play no drivers, no fuss. It was recognized instantly by Yahoo, iChat, and Skype software.
The built in microphone is very sensitive, you may want to reduce the 'input level' in the OSx's System Preferences >Audio panel. Not sure why the previous reviewer said you need a powered USB hub - you don't. Just plug it into the USB port on the body of the Mini, not on the keyboard sides, if you have that kind of keyboard.
Twist the focus ring around the lens slightly to adjust for the first time, then you're good to go. Highly Recommended for Mac Mini. Was this review helpful?

i bought this camera for someone with a mac mini. i figured it would just plug into usb port and work great since it said it was mac compatible. What a surprise when the mac mini said that it needed power in order to run. i had to purchase a powered usb hub in order to get it to function on the mac mini. there was nothing in the instructions about this so for the inexperienced computer user it might be a bit frustrating if you aren't really good at problem solving tech issues. on the other hand, it was total plug and play with my windows vista machine. no problem at all and in fact i am thinking of buying another one for myself.
it works great. the lights are a nice touch and the microphone works very well. it actually looks like a little lamp. all in all it is a great buy if you are looking for a camera that has quality and value. Was this review helpful?
