The FM sensitifity is poor. The car kit makes you put an 12" x 1" strip antenna inside your front window. The only location that works satisfactoroty is to ahve teh antenna outside, which yuo can't. The antenna works better if mounted vertically, which your front window is not. This is an expensive mess of wires.
Problem #2, the radio heats up -- really hot, then the FM sensitivity drops even lower. I suspect it fries itself. You will just rip this out of the car and go with what you have. At any cost, you are better off with anything other radio. I got mine very very inexpensively (here), brand new, and I feel gyped.
#3 - For the house, get a real table radio or receiver. Not this unit. Was this review helpful?

Bought this in case satellite radio ever goes out of business. Wish I'd understood that I also needed to buy an antenna kit for the car. Works great; ended up using at home most of the time although I did check out the car installation. Need to check it out on a long trip someday. I am now a believer, but wish it had digital outputs.
