I purchaed this as an upgrade for a logitech gaming headset and what a difference. I definitely hear more detail which is a big advantage when playing games like counter-strike. I was a bit skeptical at first as to how much of an improvement this headset would make for gaming but it definitely has made a difference. If your looking for a music headset, this is not for you. When listening to music I prefer my sony earbuds. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good buy Sunday, June 08, 2008 jackloudermilk from Morganton, NC
I am poor of hearing and these headphones, with the software, took care of all that. I easily dialed in these phones to accommodate my way of hearing. Absolutely blown away at the surround sound I get out of these headphones. I have the Barracuda AC-1 sound card and I couldn't be happier with this set up. The fit on my head is right on as well. Regular music files are harder to make sound good, not terrible, just harder. A good buy. Was this review helpful?

All in all, a good 5.1 headset. I teamed it up with a Create SoundBlaster XiFi Extreme Music card and it works nicely. Really comes to life with a XiFi compatible game like Battlefield 2. The positioning offered in the game with the headset definitately adds a dimension to the game. Is this headset "necessary"? Nope. Is it fun in a XiFi game ... you bet.
As to sound quality for normal audio (MP3 320bitVBR) listening: it's ok. The headset is not what I would call a musical headset. It's a gaming headset.
The microphone works well enough, though I find it does have to sit just off my jaw to work well. Note that the microphone doesn't sit in front of your mouth so much as off your left jaw. Different, not bad. Just different.
The cord length between the control unit and the headset basically requires you clip the control unit to some part of your body. Otherwise the control unit dangles too much. The controls are illegible in the dim glow of the LCD, but once setup in the daytime or under light, you probably aren't going to touch the other controls. Master Volume Control is easy to find, regardless of the light conditions. Minor issue, just something that a bit of dayglow on the names and controls would have helped. Oh, to that point, there is no indication of the mid-point of the controls. They also turn more than 360 degrees in range, so finding the sweet spot is a bit tough. Again, once setup you probably won't touch.
Comfort it good, they do dissapear on my head after a while. Was this review helpful?
