5 of 5 Very good home scanner Wednesday, October 22, 2008
    Josh Blair from Golden, CO

So far this scanner has more than met my expectations. I use it instead of a fax machine for scanning receipts and other documentation and it has performed very well. It was easy to setup and the included software has been very easy to use. I can recommend this scanner for home use without reservation.

4 of 5 Compact scanner, ok quality Sunday, August 31, 2008
    A Customer from Gainesville, FL
This scanner is compact and simple to use. Powering via USB cable significantly reduces the mess of cables, which is a plus. My only complaint is that the quality of the scans is not fantastic. On other scanners, I have used 150 dpi for readable text and 300 dpi for crystal clear text. With this scanner, at 150, the text was unreadable and at 300 dpi, it was barely readable, and the pdf it produced with its pdf conversion function was enormous. It's not clear where to adjust the brightness/contrast, but I'm hoping that will be resolved as I use it more. Overall, good value for what you get. (Many of the aforementioned problems may have more to do with the software than hardware.) Just don't expect to get stunning, publishable scans out of it.

5 of 5 Quick setup, portable and easy to use Saturday, August 02, 2008
    prakashvrao from Scotch Plains, NJ
I have worked with other scanners but CanoScan LiDE 25 Flatbed Scanner gets my vote: at 1.3" Height x 10.1" Width x 15.1" Depth and 3.53lb, it is very portable. It only needs the USB link with the computer, no external power supply. I had it up and running within minutes. I am able to lug it pretty much with my laptop and use it for field work. Snug as a bug in a rug - yessirree, this is my kind of scanner.

5 of 5 Great Value Scanner Wednesday, July 09, 2008
    PK from Denver, CO
I bought this scanner after a lot of research! For me lowest price was very important and then smaller size. It took me less than 10 minute to unpack and make it run. I am very happy with the quality! The speed of scanning is okay; if you are looking for a scanner to use it say once in a week, it can be the best choice. However, if you are a frequent user and will scan lot of pages in daily basis then you may not choose this one. I am buying this scanner for: home use, to scan some hand written notes, important bills, for scanning family photos and to scan my passport, VISAs , immegration documents, notice from IRS & social security, and sometime to scan my palm to send to India for palm reading..

    5 of 5 Great value! Sunday, April 13, 2008
    A Customer from So. Cal
This is my first flat bed scanner. I had it a couple of weeks. I don't use it all the time but when I need it, it's very handy to have it around saving the time to drive around for the copy stores likes of Kinko's. Best resolution scanned files can be really big in size. I'm trying to figure out the best compromise between the economy(file size) and the purpose of the file it'll be used. It doesn't have a power switch unless I'm missing something, so everytime I turn on my computer it'd start the scanning program. I decided to connect and disconnect the cable for a power switch. Like I said I don't use it frequently, so it works for me. If someone knows how to set it not start automatically as an option, I'd like to hear.

5 of 5 Exceptional Value - Very Good Quality Saturday, April 05, 2008
Lewis Edge from Princeton, NJ USA
If you're looking for a bargain-priced scanner that yields very good quality, this is your best choice. I ordered this scanner from buy.com on a Sunday. It was delivered on the following Tuesday with no shipping charges or sales tax added to the price, which I consider excellent service. This scanner is thin, light-weight and is powered entirely by its USB connection. No external power brick is needed or supplied. The software bundle that is included with the scanner is remarkably good considering the low price of this entire package. Software included provides credible OCR (optical character recognition) and photo editing capabilities. The scanner's TWAIN interface makes it compatible with other software that supports direct scanning. As you might expect from a scanner in this price range, it has no provision for scanning film strips or transparencies or pages larger than A4 or letter size. You'll need to be patient when scanning at high resolutions because this scanner is slow. Nonetheless, this scanner gives you a lot of bang for your bucks and is highly recommended if you don't need those higher-end and much more expensive capabilities.

    5 of 5 Good buy Sunday, March 09, 2008
    A Customer from Maryland
This is a great product, especially for the price. It takes less than 5 minutes to get it up and running. Doesn't scan extrememly fast takes a minute or less to scan one sheet depending on how much is on the paper. Quite compact so it can fit almost anywhere you have a paper size room on your desk. Shipping was fast and free. Can't beat that.

    5 of 5 Couldn't be happier Sunday, February 10, 2008
    paul from san diegi ca
Once again Buy.com amazed me with speed of free delivery. It seems as if I had just hit the 'submit' button on my order when the doorbell rang and there was the Fed Ex guy! The scanner itself is a good looking unit about the size of a notebook computer. Setup was simple, scanning application intuitive, and performance satisfactory. Obviously at this price you shouldn't expect super speed but for the average user it is adequate. I've already scanned half my old photo collection!

5 of 5 Great Value & Performance for the money! Wednesday, January 23, 2008
    Steve from Commerce Township, MI
Just purchased this item cause it was the cheapest available, the scanner is very easy to get started with and offers a whole host of features (software driven) that you would typically pay a whole lot more for. I like the fact that it offers the ability to scan documents as PDF's. Overall very pleased with the scanner and can't beat the value for the price paid!

5 of 5 Nice Little Scanner at a Good Price Wednesday, January 16, 2008
    DaChickenLady from Concord, CA
This is a nice little scanner if you're not going to scan many pages at the same time. It's light enough and small enough that I am considering keeping it in my car. I love the fact that the scanner is USB-powered. The included CD has all the software and drivers I need for my Vista laptop.

    5 of 5 Wonderful Scanner! Tuesday, September 25, 2007
    John Hancock from Beavercreek, Ohio
This scanner was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted an easy-to-use programmable scanner that would let me send scans directly to my printer (basically, a poor man's copier). I didn't want an "all in one" printer, since I have a great laser printer. This scanner was the answer. The three buttons on the front are EASILY programmable to send scans to any software or any printer. USB power means no additional power cord. And, in typical Canon fashion, the user interface is simple, flexible, and easy to understand and use. If you are looking to turn your printer into a copy machine at home, or just want great looking scans, this is a great product, and at a great price!

    5 of 5 Canoscan Lide 25 Monday, August 06, 2007
    A Customer from Paterson, NJ.
This is a very decent scanner, reasonable priced too, Once software installed, scanner is on the loose, Easy to use, the one touch button to scan and E-mail is an added feature, When asked to scan a page for E-mail attachment, 2/3 page was scanned, I have not had enough time to explore reason why but I will recommend this to anyone wanting a good scanner yet do not want to pay a lot of money i.e bargainers

5 of 5 Works great in Linux Friday, July 13, 2007
    Don from San Diego, CA
The fact that the LiDE 25 is supported by SANE (www.sane-project.org, uses the "plustek" backend) was the key selling point for me. The first unit I received didn't work. I tried it in Win98 and XP as well as Linux, to be sure it wasn't just me misconfiguring someting. An email to Canon's tech support led to them cross-shipping me a factory-refurbished unit, which works great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I don't use the scanner that much so I did not want to spend alot for one. The price was right and it is very easy to use. If you would use it alot, it would probably be too slow. It fills my needs just fine.

5 of 5 excellent part time scanner Thursday, August 03, 2006
    nikki from charlotte, nc
Really impressed with the quality and performance - I have really put this through the ringer scanning thousands of pictures, and I'll be honest - after 8 months I'm going to have to take it in for repairs - however, for the part time scanner I really don't think you can beat the quality and value for price

5 of 5 Very Impressed with Scanner Friday, June 02, 2006
    Matt from Bucyrus, OH
This has to be one of the best investments I have made. The scanner automatically seperates pictures so you can scan multiple pictures at one time and a file will be generated for each one. It is USB powered so there is no need for a power cable which is really nice. Documents can be scanned and saved to a PDF file which makes them look very nice and professional. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!
