5 of 5 Great functionality, challenging config Saturday, August 29, 2009
Jim N from Monterey, CA

I'm migrating from low-end SonicWall boxes to this ZyWall 2+. It's a much better deal - none of the annoying/expensive upgrades to support more LAN computers. The SyWall has lots of nice features, but it's harder to learn how to configure. OTOH, I couldn't find anything I wanted it to do that it wouldn't. I've downgraded the performance number slightly, since its memory space for filters is more limited than I'd like (but reasonable for most applications). I've also used the ZyWall 5, which is higher performance, but significantly more expensive. These ZyXEL routers are very stable -- never seen a crash or hang.

5 of 5 The Next Level Saturday, November 22, 2008
RATickle from Cedar Grove, NJ
If your home router needs go beyond the consumer level of Linksys or D-Link this router may be a good choice. If your business needs the features of a Cisco router, but you can't justify the high cost, this router may be a good choice. The good news about this router is that it is highly flexible and configurable. The bad news about this router is that it is highly flexible and configurable. Unless you are knowledgeable about setting up firewall rules, port forwarding, and VPNs, you will have a difficult time getting this router to do what you want. (The PDF User Guide is over 600 pages!) If you are ready to move beyond Linksys and D-Link to the next level and WANT to learn the details of router configuration, you can have a lot of fun with this unit.

5 of 5 One of the best routers Monday, October 15, 2007
Joe from Woodhaven, NY
Title says it, this is one of the best routers/internet security devices out there. Blows the more-commercially-available products out of the water (e.g., Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, etc). Newbies may want to proceed with caution, though they may be able to just plug and go with minimal configuration, especially if already familiar with the more common brands' web configuration page. Advanced users will appreciate the advanced configuration options. I am extremely satisfied with this product.

5 of 5 Does Its Job Tuesday, October 09, 2007
A Customer from NY
I replaced my ZyWall 10 with this one after it finally burned out after 8 years of service. The ZyWall 2 Plus does add to the feature set over the 10 and required a little more digging into the user manual to properly set up. Otherwise, this is a great piece of equipment, although I've seen it crash from time to time. But a simple "pull the plug, wait 10 seconds" works out. It doesn't happen all the time so I'm okay with it. But if you're in a production environment with mission critical 24/7 requirements, you might want to do a lot of field testing before deploying this puppy.

5 of 5 Best router and firewall for the money Thursday, June 28, 2007
husky55 from Madison, CT
I have had several wireless routers over the years, made by major manufactures. They are essentially a switch, a WIFI AP and a router all in one item. This cost saving produces routers which are at best limited not to mention unreliable. As my network grows, I added switches, networked printers, NAS devices, wired and wireless computers so I bought this Zyxell 2 Plus for increased security and function. In addition I like to have the flexibility to couple this router with future changes in Wifi technology such as 802.11N products and not be locked in with a very flimsy router. The learning curve of this device was rather stiff, but I enjoyed every minute of it. The firmware is mature and the hardware is very reliable. It has flexibility and function I probably will not be using but it's there. Of course it offers VPN and DMZ and WAN and LAN configurations in any form or shape you would ever want. The PDF manual is about 678 pages. There is a quick set up booklet shipped with the device. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
