5 of 5 Great Product Easy Setup Tuesday, June 16, 2009 JMHSRV from Oakland, CA
These things are great! So easy to set up. I plugged one into the dsl modem and the wall and another into the wall near my Dish DVR. Instant access to my DVR on-line!
One thing that I could not find anywhere in the installation manual was wether or not these can be plugged into surge protectors or power strips, however based on the description in the little manual, it appears as though they cannot. Some where in the little manual, it says that copper wound wire is required. Also in the description it states "may not work in older houses". Our house was buillt in 1920, and it works fine, so I am not sure what older houses they are referring to.. caves perhaps?
Great product totally plug and play. Didnt even use the set-up disks. Great job!! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works well Wednesday, April 02, 2008 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I’m not very savvy on computers and anything has to do with computers have never been good with the technical stuff. My brother is the tech guy who installed the routers and stuff at home. But he could never get my room connected wirelessly. cannot get my room with wireless connection. But after I connected the router in my room with these wall plug units, I can get online right away from my room! I'm unable to scale this particular product, though I'm familar with earlier models that seem to work fine. However, as an Amateur Extra Class FCC licensed amateur radio operator, from the specs it seems clear that this adaptor will blanket 5,000 square feet of radio noise in the 2-30 mHz radio spectrum. That is the same spectrum assigned not only for amateur radio operators .. who some call hobbyists & in disasters call them their life-line to the outside world -- but it is also the spectrum for shortwave broadcasting reception .. so hopefully you won't intrude on a neighbor with in YOUR 5,000 square foot coverage that will blanket all radio coverage within that area. I wanted to avoid installing wires. Price was right and it was so easy to set up - just plugged it in and it worked. However, it does not work reliably. I used it to connect an upstairs computer to a downstairs ADSL connection, and it only worked sporadically. I tried the obvious things, like turning off all appliances, but the problem only got worse over time. After a few weeks the connection only seemed to work in one direction. Finally I gave up and replaced it with a 15 meter ethernet cable. That cost about $15 and works perfectly. I just don't feel like spending more hours trying to diagnose the problem or replacing a faulty box. It just does not seem worth the effort for a $60 item. Was this review helpful?
