Even when he's making confident declarations of his sexual prowess, he sounds like he's delivering a call to arms. Unlike some rappers of the "thug" persuasion, Turk doesn't seem to be at all conflicted about the everyday presence of murder and mayhem in his world. On such tunes as "It's in Me," he takes a resigned, existential attitude toward his role as a street hood. It's this clear-eyed acceptance that lends believability to the image Turk presents throughout YOUNG & THUGGIN. Of course, the funky, minimalist beats underlying his raps don't hurt Turk's case either. |
